The final 2 MLS teams joined the US Open Cup action last night and again their success rate was
only 50% as Portland was taken down by amateur team Cal FC managed by Eric Wynalda in one of the
biggest upsets in modern Open Cup history! Seattle, who bought their home game, got the win over
Atlanta Silverback of the NASL.

The Union defeated Rochester Rhinos, who were playing their third road game in five days, 3–0
in a game that saw an hour-long halt in play thanks to some rain. Check out PSP's match report and

Croatian Eagles manager Alex Toth took every second allowable before deciding whether
Bryce Boyd (Milwaukee Marquette/UW-Milwaukee) or former professional Ante Cop would start in
goal for the team's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup opener Tuesday night.
"I agonized with that decision," Toth said.
The Croatian Eagles figure to make a few additions to their roster before facing the Chicago
Fire PDL team in a first-round match of the 99th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup next Tuesday night in
Bridgeview, Ill.
As for the roster for the Fire's developmental team, it appears that not much likely will be
known until closer to gameday.
Carrie Patterson (in white uniform) is one of five players that signed on with the Mutiny for

My dad is certainly two things, he is a Glaswegian, and he is a football fan. Nothing strange I
know, but his club of choice baffles some, he comes from a family of Celtic fans, but for some
reason in the 1960′s he adopted Clyde as his team. This rubbed off on me, and along with my
brother we all follow the Bully Wee as well as Newcastle.
Former Arsenal keeper Jens Lehman expressed delight at seeing both Manchester sides eliminated
from the Champions League on Wednesday but was more happy with league leaders City's failure to

According to Lehman, City play very boring football and deserved to be dumped out of the
competition.
Nope, nothing to do with Ryan, Babel is an acronym for the island province of Bangka Belitung.
Flushed with the success of a local movie, Laskar Pelangi, the islands have become a popular
tourist destination for locals looking for a bit of peace and quiet basking in the glamour of
fame.
The Depati Amir Stadium in Pangkal Pinang normally hosts local amateur team Persipas but this
coming weekend will see the glamour of the Indonesia Super League descend with Deltras and
Sriwijaya from nearby Palembang competing with a Babel Stars for the inaugural Babel Cup.
When Landon Donovan and Robbie Rogers step on the field for training this morning, it won't be
their first time on the pitch with Jurgen Klinsmann. Donovan had a three-month loan spell at Bayern
Munich in 2009, appearing in six games while Klinsmann was the head coach. (Watch what Klinsmann
had to say about Donovan back then.
Tonight the Portland Timbers will take on the San Jose Earthquakes in a U.S. Open Cup play-in game.
Consider this question: does it matter? It's a bold question that's been asked countless times by
journalists, fans, owners and even players. Five years ago, you could answer with a resounding "No"
and likely not find too much grief coming your way.
Former Liverpool left-back Stig Inge Bjornebye has hailed the club's Academy as one of the finest
in Europe.
The Norwegian has been a frequent visitor to the Reds' youth-base in recent years and has been
hugely impressed by the work being carried out by Academy director Frank McParland.
Speaking at a specially arranged U13 clash that saw his amateur side Heming takes on Liverpool,
Bjornebye revealed his deep gratitude to the Kirkby staff for their hospitality.
