When thinking about adult soccer in the state of Minnesota, most everyone in the soccer
community can cite one of the numerous recreational options available to anyone who is interested
in playing the world's greatest sport. But where do the top level players go to find a true
competitive environment which includes the best amateur players in the state as well past
professionals and players who aspire to reach the next level?
We here at Soccer Jones had the chance to sit down with 23 year-old Chivas USA striker, Justin
Braun, for an exclusive interview. Braun currently leads his squad in both goals and assists this
season as Chivas USA continue their chase for a playoff berth.

Seleccion Carioca recently completed an impressive run through all four Minnesota
Amateur Soccer League (MASL) levels by winning the 2010 Division 1 championship.
Carioca's 6-2 win over Inferno '98 gave them 12 wins and 6 ties for 42 points, and the top flight's
first undefeated season since FC Internationals went 18-0-0 in 2003.

I recently had the opportunity to catch up with Ryan Knapp, the Co-owner of FC Buffalo in the
National Premier Soccer League as well as the current PR Director for the six-year old, national
amateur soccer league. My interest in the NPSL stemmed from the recent announcement that the New
York Red Bulls would field an Under-23 team in the league's Atlantic Conference for the upcoming
season.

reporting that the draw for the USASA Region II Open Cup tournament is set. Anderson reports that
eight amateur sides will be looking to win 2 berths into the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
Newcomer Fire SC ‘00 is playing as the Minnesota representative, and travels to AAC Eagles,
who ended RWB Adria's three-year run as Illinois state champion.
As reported at IMS several weeks ago, Minnesota will have 2-teams competing this year for a spot
in the US Open Cup Tournament. The USOC is the oldest sports tournament in the US. Teams from all
levels can compete in the tournament but they must first qualify while all 2nd Division teams like
the NSC Stars are automatically entered into the tournament.

that they had come to an agreement to run the 2nd-division soccer league in the US for the year
2010, he also made a few comments about the future of that league.

Kees Schot, 76, of Minneapolis, and Jim Jordan, 57, of Eagan.
Schot was a player, referee and administrator in the Minnesota Amateur Soccer League, serving as
MASL commissioner, treasurer and registrar.
