GOLD Coast United have snatched a draw against Perth Glory, with New Zealand international Shane
Smeltz scoring in the dying minutes of the game.
With the clock ticking away, Brazilian midfielder Amaral gave away a free-kick which was quickly
taken and crossed into Smeltz who scored the equaliser and his 9th goal of the season.
36 year old Alexandre da Silva Mariano, a.k.a. Amaral, is not one player that you would expect
to be the (unofficially) most polite footballer.
Previously playing in footballing danger zones such as Italy (Parma; AC Fiorentina) and Turkey
(Besiktas), representing Brazil 31 times, and winning an Olympic Bronze medal (Atlanta 1996),
nobody anticipated that the former grave digger would have written a thank you note to his most
recent club, Perth Glory.
Ah what an absolute ripper of a night. Perth Glory have really arrived on the scene after a

YOU'VE got to love the short football week. It seem like yesterday the Glory faithful were gloating
over that 2-0 win over Newcastle, but now the next match is only two days away.
Hopefully this finds you well and not dripping in the anticipation of the imminent return of
Perth's favourite misbehaving son Ben Cousins.

WELL slowly but surely the Glory juggernaut is picking up pace for tomorrow night's clash with
Melbourne Victory.
There's quite a bit going on - so without further ado - here we go.
Firstly, the Glory have stitched up Brazilian midfielder Amaral and it looks like he will come
straight into the matchday squad for the Victory game.

SO there you go, Perth Glory come out on top in a very challenging encounter with Melbourne Victory
last night.
But in many ways, this victory was more pleasing than last week's one against Newcastle.
Against the Jets, Perth dominated possession and open play, and came out with a 2-0 victory.

THERE seems to be a quiet lull on the western front, a bit curious considering the Glory face
Central Coast on Friday night - just a couple of days away.
But getting straight into the scraps of the Glory barrel today - the first bit of news comes from
the good folk at AAP.
Easily the greatest penalty shootout celebration in history. (0.20) Fabio Capello is not such a hit
in Spain. (La Liga Loca) The dam is breaking in Manchester. (EPL Talk) Raymond Domenech: not so
smart. (The Spoiler) Amaral writes a nice, though curious, parting letter. (SoccerLens) Robin van
Persie to get mystery placenta juice treatments.
