Recently I had the opportunity to ask Mikey Collins, IGLFA Secretary, some questions about his
position with IGLFA and his experiences as a member of the gay soccer community.
Do coaches lead more than just our players? We often speak of our players as leaders, or our
ability as coaches to lead our team -- but what about or ability as coaches to lead one another?
How important is leadership within a coaching staff, and what does the leadership that your staff
exhibits ultimately mean for the players on your team?

weekend, I attended the San Francisco Spikes first fundraiser of 2008. They were raising money for
team dues, travel expenses, scholarships and fees.

I arrived in Philadelphia on Thursday excited to represent the Women's Committee at the NSCAA Board
of Director's meeting. When I got there, I was cordially welcomed by Al Albert, the NSCAA
President. He asked me if I'd be willing to accept a position on the BOD as the Women's
Professional Soccer representative.
One of our summer interns, Adrienne, drove home to New Mexico on Tuesday morning to finish her
Master's Degree in Sports Medicine. We had a going away dinner on Monday night to thank her for all
