Apologies for the lack of posting but I came down with a case of bird flu and when you've got
the bird flu you have to adhere to a strict diet of no cigarettes or alcohol which means no blog
posts. But I'm back and slightly intoxicated and here to tell you about this little match we have
coming up on Saturday.
Having lost four midfielders (Lassana Diarra, Mathieu Flamini, Gilberto, Alexander
Hleb) in the last six months, it is no surprise that Arsene Wenger is after another midfielder to
add to Samir Nasri's arrival. Recent interviews have alluded to this and the Wenger confirmed
this in an interview after yesterday's game.
With Euro 2008 acting as a stick in the spokes of the summer rumour mill, all Liverpool fans have
to feed off is 'The Continuing Story of Gareth Barry'. Will he? Won't he? Oh for heaven's sake
guys, just sort it out and let the papers move on to something more interesting. For a club with

Whilst the players have been going through their paces in Austria, Arsene Wegner has been going
through his book of possible midfielders to bring to the club. Having seen the paucity of
players available to him, the Arsenal manager must be regretting allowing Lassana Diarra to leave
in January. Wenger would like to bring someone in [.

These games are not doing my heart any good. Four games into the season, and the earliest goal
Liverpool's scored has come in the 83rd minute. And Kuyt striking the winner after suffering a ton
of stick makes it even sweeter.

I don't want to appear to be counting chickens before they're hatched, and hopefully I'll have more
to write about this early next week, but I wanted to say one thing upfront. Georger said similar in
the comments last night, but I want to expound on it as well.
If it comes down to Robbie Keane or Gareth Barry, I'm taking the somersaulting Irishman
(worst celebration ever) every time.
Juventus target Xabi Alonso's future is no closer to being sorted out and there is unlikely to be
any developments in this regard within the next fortnight.
When pressed on the whether he was still looking to leave Liverpool in the summer, the 26-year-old
responded that all he wants to do now is take a rich deserved break to reflect on Spain's
magnificent Euro sucesss with his family.
Morning all, how's it going? I'm super so that's good. Let's get right down to it. Did you see AC
Milan finally signed Ronaldinho? Imagine two years ago if Ronaldinho and Kaka were in the same
squad. How unfair would that have been? Now that Ronny has fallen off a bit though it's not as
daunting.
According to this source the Gunners are within sight of a very good signing to boost their bare
midfield. Don't forget to check out Online Football Manager! ARSENE WENGER is on the verge of
signing Liverpool outcast Xabi Alonso. Wenger has turned to the £16m-rated Spaniard to provide

Morning all. I have a very special announcement for you all today. Arsenal have decided that Arsene
Wenger has no idea what he's doing, and they're moving on. They've found a new manager, and he's
just what everyone has been hoping for. He's got a much better track record than Wenger, who of
course only won three league titles and four FA Cups and is Arsenal's most successful manager ever.
Football News: Benitez now making Robbie Keane to Liverpool his main game
Rafa Benitez is, almost unbelievably, after the yet to be resolved Gareth Barry saga, making Robbie
Keane's move to Liverpool his top transfer priority.
Given Liverpool's limited funds, the wealth of midfield options he has, he is now concentrating on
bringing Irish striker Keane to Liverpool.
Rafael Benitez has confirmed he must sell again to bring Gareth Barry to Liverpool after completing
the £20.3million signing of Robbie Keane.
The Reds manager insists that is what he aims to do, but he has no intention of selling Spain
international Alvaro Arbeloa.
Liverpool are believed to have had a £7million bid from Sevilla for the 25-year-old, but
Benitez has made it clear the player is going nowhere, despite speculation defender Arbeloa wants
to return to Spain for personal reasons.
A cheeky offer from a former Chelsea boss for a Liverpool midfielder who is also attracting
interest from Arsenal. Don't forget to check out Online Football Manager! Inter Milan according to
reports in the UK press are about to make a bid for Liverpool's Spanish midfield star Alonso but
not at the .
As revealed late on Tuesday night, Arsenal have completed the surprise signing of Mikael Silvestre
from Manchester United. The France defender becomes Arsenal's fourth summer signing and
will add experience and versatility to the squad. The greatest surprise was that Ferguson
allowed him to move to one of United's rivals.
After missing out on top transfer targets Xabi Alonso and Gokhan Inler last night, at least Arsene
Wenger signed up promising youngsters Mark Randall and Keiran Gibbs on new contracts. The pair
arrived at the Emirates in 2006 and after impressing in their first year with the Gunners they went
on to sign professional terms in [.
This will be a quick one, because I've left it late, but there's just time to see who's been
scoring for which teams this weekend. A goalkeeping record has finally fallen in Mexico, Diego
Milito won the Genova derby for his team, Real Madrid aren't optimistic of their hopes against
Lionel Messi's Barcelona at the [.
It's possibly a good thing that Xabi Alonso seems in a determined mood to stick around at Anfield.
After all, it appears that we might be waiting until June 2009 for Liverpool and Aston Villa to
finally agree a suitable price for Gareth Barry. The Daily Mirror reports that the Spaniard is
expecting to be [.
It is believed that Liverpool need to sell Xabi Alonso to be able to finance a deal with Aston
Villa for Gareth Barry. That move has been hampered by an impasse between Liverpool and Villa over
the transfer fee and...
Just what we needed. The man I've been wanting to captain this team for the new season contracted
malaria over the summer in the Ivory Coast. He was feeling a little weakness during the training
camp in Austria and was taken to the hospital for a check up, and they discovered...wait for
it...that he has contracted the deadly disease.
Robbie Keane will be undergoing his medical in Liverpool today and is set to sign a five-year
contract worth £80,000 per week. On behalf of all Yanks who don't know beans about football,
I'd like to offer a big Flavor Flav, "YEAHHHHHHHHHHH BOYEEEEEEEEE!"
This is the signing I've been most excited about when I first heard the rumor that Keane wanted
to leave Spurs for his boyhood heroes, Liverpool.
Rafael Benitez's complete mismanagement of Xabi Alonso is the main reason the talented Spaniard is
on his way out of Anfield.
****I originally posted this article on the 5th February 2008 in response to what I believed were
obvious signs that Xabi Alonso was being mismanaged by Rafa. In light of the current uncertainty
surrounding Alonso's future, I feel compelled to re-post the article.
Once again an important Liverpool game is in danger of being overshadowed by an off-field saga.
This unfortunately is becoming an all too frequent trend for the Merseyside giants. The latest
episode is another apparent conflict between owners and manager, this time over the funding of the
proposed Gareth Barry move.
This indecisions bugging me
If you dont want me, set me free
Come on and let me know
Should I cool it or should I blow?
Should I stay or should I go now?
Aaaahhh the good ole Clash, you've gotta love them and never were more those words more appropriate
then when looking at the many indecision regarding so many players across Europe.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is to make one final attempt to sign Swiss International Gokhan Inler
from Serie A side Udinese, according to reports in The Daily Mail. Inler, 24, would be the ideal
replacement for Mathieu Flamini who joined AC Milan on a free in July and has all the
characteristics to become one of [.
Morning all,
it's a very quiet start to what we all hope is going to be a very busy day. It's transfer
deadline day and clubs have until midnight tonight to bring in new players before the window shuts
and they have to make do with their squads until January.
Obviously we're all going to be watching anxiously, breath bated, to see if Arsene gets his
chequebook out.

With all the behind-the-scenes talk between Liverpool and Juventus over the future of current Reds
midfielder Xabi Alonso, there has been little noise recently to suggest that a move is even
imminent. And with Gareth Barry, Andrea Dossena, and a host of other Liverpool targets currently
sitting on Rafa's wish list waiting for funds, this [.
*pours one out for Alonso and Riise* Okay, it's probably Riise's time to go. But Alonso? I'm
actually sad about that. Mascherano's awesome and all, but I think you want some cover at that
position, especially since Mascherano tends to get cards pretty regularly. But I'd say starting at
Juventus is probably better than bench-warming at Liverpool, especially if you're still young, so.

Rafael Benitez is convinced that Liverpool will hold a vital edge over their Premiership rivals
going into next season despite them not being in the same spending bracket.
There are strong indications that Liverpool will be the only top four side that will still have
their core starting XI in place next season, as Chelsea and Arsenal again are going through a
period of transition, while United look set to lose the jewel in their crown to Real Madrid.
Should Liverpool sell Xabi Alonso?: Yes No
LIVERPOOL fans are holding their breath over the signing of Robbie Keane. He's a
good player, possibly a very good player. The former Crumlin United (Dublin) striker may even
blossom into a world class player alongside Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. And, there's a
strong argument that Torres needs a fleet-footed playmaker snapping at the heels of defenders.
I'm glad the whole Gareth Barry debacle is seemingly over now. Like everyone else, I've spent weeks
watching events unfold, secretly sick at the sheer ransom which Aston Villa were trying to hold us
to.
If he is meant to be at Liverpool, then I really hope he holds out on signing another contract as
next summer he will be far more reasonably priced and O'Neill can shove his £18 million where
the sun don't shine.

There was some real stand out moments in the match against Lazio. It's all good and well for fans
to make their feelings known and with Alonso there can be no doubt they want him to stay. His name
was chanted loudly and often, his every touch, pass, free kick and corner was applauded. Which is
fair enough.
Granted it was a truly awful performance from the lads but there's no need to lose any sleep over
it. Standard Liege, despite fielding a few kids were clearly up for what was likely their biggest
match of the season. No doubt in a couple of weeks we should beat them at home though.
With Alonso now cup tied it's unlikely we'll sell him this year so hopefully Rafa will invest in a
much needed (and desired) winger now instead of Gareth Barry.
