Liverpool 1-0 Standard de Liege aet

3
Reina
Arbeloa Skrtel Carragher Aurelio
Kuyt Alonso Gerrard Benayoun
Torres Keane

Goals:
Kuyt 118'

These games are not doing my heart any good. Four games into the season, and the earliest goal Liverpool's scored has come in the 83rd minute. And Kuyt striking the winner after suffering a ton of stick makes it even sweeter. Click to continue reading...

We can kiss goodbye to Alonso.....

2
I realise that Arsenal are about to play in an hour but I'm gutted by the fact that Gareth Barry has decided to stay at Aston Villa until at least the end of the season.

This rules out any hope we had of signing Alonso from Liverpool who will remain at Anfield now.

I really thought that we would sign Alonso on dead-line day and that Liverpool would get Barry. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal ace urges fellow countryman to join him at Emirates

1
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has urged fellow countryman Xabi Alonso to join him at the Emirates. The Liverpool midfielder has been linked with a £16 million move to the Gunners in recent weeks after it became clear that Rafa Benitez may have to sell the Spaniard to sign Gareth Barry.

"Xabi is my friend of course, but apart from that he is a great player," Fabregas said in The People. Click to continue reading...

We've been privy to some incredible comebacks in the past five or so years. As late ones go, Olympiacos and West Ham obviously top that list, but this was a special last 10 minutes in its own right. Click to continue reading...

Wenger is a big tease but a new signing is on its way.

2
I can almost imagine Arsene being asked out by his wife for dinner:

Arsene's wife: Arsene, do you want to go for dinner tonight?

Arsene: There is interest, always, in dinner.

Wife: So where do you want to go?

Arsene: You know the place I want to go, but I cannot tell you much more than that. Click to continue reading...

One In, One Out, One More to Come In?

As revealed late on Tuesday night, Arsenal have completed the surprise signing of Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United.  The France defender becomes Arsenal's fourth summer signing and will add experience and versatility to the squad.  The greatest surprise was that Ferguson allowed him to move to one of United's rivals. Karthik’s Observations - Premier League Week I

0
This last weekend, I had to miss the mouthwatering season start fixtures and move houses. So here is my late report based on the highlights I was able to catch online.  Geovanni I cant believe this fellow was released by Manchester City. Facing their mini personnel crisis and lack of funds, I have no idea why [. Click to continue reading...

Reports - Wenger Still Wants Inler

3
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is to make one final attempt to sign Swiss International Gokhan Inler from Serie A side Udinese, according to reports in The Daily Mail. Inler, 24, would be the ideal replacement for Mathieu Flamini who joined AC Milan on a free in July and has all the characteristics to become one of [. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool vs Middlesbrough: Rafa seeking to maintain a good start

Liverpool vs Middlesbrough is a tricky one for Rafa, particularly in the white hot pressure of the Premier League. The expectations on Liverpool are such that Rafa Benitez is one bad result from a wave of pressure, particularly at the start of the season. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool looking to complete STRANGE £16m deal

1
Apparently Rafa is still very much keen on offloading this hugely talented Spaniard who is already a big target for Arsenal and Juventus. Why not join the debate at the COS forum? Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has admitted he is looking to sell Xabi Alonso to fund more signings at Anfield. The Spain . Click to continue reading...

1
Arsene Wenger has stated that he will sign a player of experience before the FC Twente game, with most players on international duty this week, can we expect the signing to be completed before the Fulham game? Wenger does not normally talk about players, but when asked about Alonso he said he was a player who [. Click to continue reading...

Sunderland 0 - 1 LFC

0

Ah, yes... a win and a goal from Torres. What could be better? For starters, the entire first half could have been better. In fact, let's pretend that the first half didn't happen at all because some other team wearing our kits showed up and attempted to play football.

Sami Hyypia's first couple of touches made it look like Sunderland had twelve men on the field.

Should I Stay Or Should I Go

3
This indecisions bugging me
If you dont want me, set me free
Come on and let me know
Should I cool it or should I blow?
Should I stay or should I go now?

Aaaahhh the good ole Clash, you've gotta love them and never were more those words more appropriate then when looking at the many indecision regarding so many players across Europe. Click to continue reading...

Poor form is only temporary, class is permanent

0
I can't wait for the return of Babel, Mascherano, Lucas and ideally another signing [winger] to help liven things up. Against Sunderland, we had yet another poor performance. Fortunately Torres treated us to a moment of brilliance to rescue us a vital 3 points away from home.
With Plessis starting in place of Alonso, it looked like recent reports of Alonso requesting to leave LFC were true. Click to continue reading...

Benitez not leaving Liverpool, but he may be forced out

1
Rafa Benitez has tonight confirmed he will not be leaving Liverpool after their was intense speculation that the Spaniard was on his way out of Anfield. The Liverpool boss has had several public rows with the American owners and it was rumoured he may decide to quit, but that is not the case.

Benitez said: "I don't read headlines on the day of the game, but my commitment is 100 per cent - with the fans, with the players and with the club in general. Click to continue reading...

Torres bags Liverpool 3 points

0
Liverpool take the three points and will be rightfully delighted with that, but the worry will be that it took a moment of individual brilliance to break the deadlock after they struggled to break Sunderland down.

What a strike from it was though from Torres. Alonso played an excellent ball through to the striker, who steadied himself in space and buried it in from 20 yards out. Click to continue reading...

Rafa Benitez nearly quit Liverpool boo hoo

2
Poor old Rafa Benitez nearly quit Liverpool because of how they handled the whole transfer saga regarding Gareth Barry according to this article in the London Times. Well my answer to that is boo hoo poor Rafa. If you want to quit Liverpool go ahead and do it because you are far from God's gift to management. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 0-0 Standard de Liege

0
Reina
Arbeloa Carragher Agger Dossena
Alonso Plessis
Kuyt Keane Benayoun
Torres

Let's hope it can't go anywhere but up.

I understand it's the first competitive game of the season. I understand Gerrard was out, that it was Keane and Dossena's first game, that Plessis is still a youngster, and that Agger is like a new signing. Click to continue reading...

Awful performance but it's no big deal

2
Granted it was a truly awful performance from the lads but there's no need to lose any sleep over it. Standard Liege, despite fielding a few kids were clearly up for what was likely their biggest match of the season. No doubt in a couple of weeks we should beat them at home though.
With Alonso now cup tied it's unlikely we'll sell him this year so hopefully Rafa will invest in a much needed (and desired) winger now instead of Gareth Barry. Click to continue reading...

CL Preview: Standard Liège - Liverpool

3
Once again an important Liverpool game is in danger of being overshadowed by an off-field saga. This unfortunately is becoming an all too frequent trend for the Merseyside giants. The latest episode is another apparent conflict between owners and manager, this time over the funding of the proposed Gareth Barry move. Click to continue reading...
