Arsenal 2-2 Everton
A point gained or two points dropped? Both; the former for us, and the latter for Everton.
Let's face it, we were very lucky indeed, scraping a late draw on a day when nothing went right
and few people covered themselves in glory. It was a bad day in the office, one to file away in the
recesses of the mind.
Well strictly speaking, Arsene and Arshavin were on the pitch briefly to pose for the cameras
on the snow-covered Emirates pitch. That is the closest we got to seeing our heroes for today.
I can't emphasise how much I was looking forward to this match. The "game in hand" since
August, got confiscated by the weather gods.
Well the snow put paid to our chance of going into second place last night. The decision to call
the game off came late enough but those close to the ground were saying from early on it was
unlikely to happen. It provides us with a bit of a fixture scheduling nightmare. The 20th of
January is a possibility, which would mean back to back league games against Bolton, but we'll have
to just wait and see what they come up with.
Well, what can you say. With the midweek fixture frozen out, I was eagerly anticipating this game
to continue our wonderful momentum in the league. Bizzarely, except for Abou Diaby, no other
Arsenal player shared my sentiment. Even worse is that even though Chelsea did not get to play
today, they were the biggest benefactor [.
Apart from freezing my nuts off at the Emirates, I also watched the game, in the evening, on
telly and I can tell you that the conditions were far worse on the pitch than how they came across
on the box.
It started snowing two minutes after kick off and finished two minutes before the end: reaching
blizzard conditions, and a serious injury waiting to happen, midway through the second half.
With Chelsea's eminently winnable match with Hull City canceled, along with six other Premier
League matches on Saturday, our match against Everton, in the driving snow, effectively, became our
infamous and long-awaited "game-in-hand." Yesterday's match was another reminder why teams with
games-in-hand should never just count them as three points.
Morning to you, the snow is beginning to melt here in Dublin, which is a good thing. This has
resulted in much slush, which is a bad thing. If slush were a footballer it would be the lovechild
of John Terry and Myra Hindley. Rotten stuff.
There's no midweek game at the moment so the focus is still pretty much on what happened against
Everton.
Day 12 of the transfer window and let's just say this - YAWN.
The official site confirmed that Wenger did indeed tell Denilson that he should handle the ball
should the ninja strike again, while Merida has reiterated that he is only in talks with Arsenal,
although Arsene is not feeling confident that the talks will come to a positive conclusion.
Arsenal fans will be reassuring themselves today that the manager knows what he is doing in
bringing 35-year-old Sol Campbell back to the club. They reassured themselves of the same thing
when Mikael Silvestre signed and we warned of his calamitous ways, although will likely side with
United fans on that one now.
Our Big Phil wants out, we all know that, and rumours are still around that David Moyes wants
him at Everton and need another top notch defender to be there in case TV or Gallas get injured. I
know we have Silvestre and Big Sol but if either Gallas or Vermaelen suffered a long term injury
would they have the legs to play every two or three days?
Morning all,
a quick round up of the not very much that's going on. Arsene Wenger says we need to be 'on
song', even without Song, for today's game and the follow up against Bolton on Wednesday night. We
certainly have to use these games to keep pace. We know the schedule we've got the far side of
them, we don't want to have to use those games to play catch-up after dropping points.
Karthik (KV) explains how Nicklas Bendtner can bring back a much-needed presence to the Arsenal
attack following the injury to Robin van Persie.

"I want to be top scorer in the Premier League, top scorer at the World Cup and, within five
years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world" were the lofty aims set by a giant
striker at the beginning of the season.
So, I guess as there's a match tonight I should do a match preview. What can be said that hasn't
already been said a thousand times?
Bolton are a pack of Neanderthal hatchetmen. I think I only said that 768 times. Or at least
variations of it.
This isn't going to be a super blog today, there isn't really that much to say.
It's not tough to beat Almunia, but this is a brilliant finish
Blackburn striker
Benni McCarthy has enjoyed a bit of a 2010 resurgence after falling out of form in 2008 and 2009,
but the South African will have to be on the top of his game today as Blackburn look to avoid
defeat in the semifinals of the Carling Cup.
After 26 minutes it looked as if we had as much chance of going top of the Premier League as Sam
Allardyce has of winning Slimmer of the Year. Arsenal started poorly, as is our wont at the moment,
and we found ourselves 2-0 down before half an hour had been played.
The first goal came about through atrocious defending.
We went into this easy game full of confidence and knowing that a win by two clear goals we
would be on top of the League. Unfortunately as per usual, we were too full of confidence, Bolton
were never going to be voluntary lambs for the slaughter.
We picked a strong team, even if a couple of the players picked were not my favourites, the
options were not that great and they should have been up for the job in hand.
We're sort of left in limbo with regards to Vermaelen. Initial reports say he may have broken
his leg. If that is the case then it is perhaps typical of our season that this injury takes place
just weeks after we signed Sol Campbell.
In a season riddled with injuries, one position where we had blessings in abundant was in the
central defence.
After Manchester United robbed Arsenal earlier in the season, thanks to poor judgement from
Almunia and an own goal from Diaby, Arsene Wenger took his frustrations out on Darren Fletcher.
This season, Fletcher has committed fewer fouls than Song and Diaby, despite playing in more
games, yet Wenger took the childish move of branding Fletch "anti-football".
This is a historic post of sorts for me. It is the first time I've ever posted something up in
another location, other than mi casa. Currently I'm in a small internet cafe in central london.
Well, not everyone has the privilege to own a smartphone. Normally if I'm travelling I would pass
up the chance to put up a post but we are playing Utd and I just had to give my two cents.
