Edmonton? Hunh. Interesting. And Utah? Maybe. Hunh.
Through Steve Davis' excellent new blog comes word that the DP rule is up for discussion at MLS All
Star Game (or was, I'm just a bit late passing this along). While I think the changes that Davis...
EPO has said that AEK will be the home team for this year's cup final. This is good news for
AEK, and hopefully it will mean we get to choose our gates (AEK wants gates 1-35, a significant
portion of OAKA, about half), our locker rooms, and whether our fans arrive by train (instead of
busses).
Dominic Kinnear has chose four players to round out the MLS All-Star team, adding them to the First
XI announced by the league last week, as well as the two commissioner's picks. Here are
Kinnear's...
Daily Talking Point
There's considerable debate about the value of the MLS All-Star game going around today. A
sold-out Rio Tinto stadium in Salt Lake looked impressive last night, but the tepid match and the
penalty kicks to determine the result seemed rather pointless does anyone actually care that
Everton won?
Hey ya'll, I have to head out of a town because of a death in the family. I will check back with
ya'll in exactly one week.
Don't forget to go vote for the All-Star game. Remember that you should totally vote for David
Beckham and Schellas Hyndman.
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2009 MLS All Star First XI, who will take on EPL side Everton at Rio
Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on July 29th. Only two Sounders in the First XI, just in case you
were...
Rapids striker Conor Casey has been chosen as one of the 2009 MLS All-Star Game's first 11
players.
He is one of seven first-time members of the team. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m.
(Mountain Time) July 29 at Rio Tinto Stadium, in Sandy, Utah. The MLS All-Stars will face Everton
of the English Premier League.
I'm not enthused about writing this post. I'm not overly excited to break down the MLS All Stars or
their Premier League opponents. I'm not particularly keen on the All Star game, and while I...
An event so exclusive that I wasn't even invited. Which truth be told is typically the case.
It's been a busy week, so I am finally getting my weekly crystal ball readings posted after a few
thoughts about the spectacle at Rio Tinto earlier this week.
As for the All-Star Game, I have read so many blogs and comments dissing the existence of the game
and, to be honest, I just don't get the objection.
All the stuff you didn't see at the 2009 MLS All Star game (and beautfully shot and edited if I
might add).
Major League Soccer has announced that English Premier League club Everton will face the
best 11 from the MLS during the 2009 All-Star Game.
The Toffees, current FA Cup finalists, will visit Rio Tinto Stadium, the home of Real Salt Lake,
on July 29. The game will be televised live by ESPN2 and TeleFutura.
Don't pay attention to the details at the end of the video, just take in the message. It's time to
cast your ballot for the 2009 MLS All Star game so get it together and get your ballot ready. And
the best thing about this vote is that even though you do have to register, if you are a felon you
can still cast your ballot!
No Marco Pappa? Shocking.
Random thoughts and ideas from the 2009 MLS All-Star Game, which finished tied 1-1. Everton
defeated the All-Stars on penalty kicks, as goalkeeper Tim Howard rose to the occasion. Everton won
the PK stage 4-3 in six rounds, as Howard made three saves.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Howard.
Is it just me or is halftime the most interesting thing about the All Star game? I'm sure that
changes if you are actually there, but siting at home I find the pre-game and half-time shows to be
the most interesting part of the show. That's probably just because I am a big nerd for things like
the CBA, expansion and other topics that are typically only fit for message boards and
conversations with the league's Business & Legal Affairs dept.
