Canada's sports network TSN reports that "MLS Commissioner Don Garber will lift the original
ceiling of 18 franchises and announce Thursday a new expansion plan of not less than 20 and up to
24 franchises by 2013-2014."
They add that, "Vancouver and Montreal are considered expansion priorities for Garber in 2011.
By the by, if you a plan on making an appearnace at the All Star game in Toronto next week there is
an official party at local megaclub Muzik. They giving away a few tickets to the event but if
you're unlucky you'll have to drop $150 for the chance to pop bottles with a bunch of MLS players &
suits, West Ham players, and Toronto's local club celebrities.
I've been sitting on these for a rainy day and even though there's yet to be single drop from the
New York City sky today, it's a slow news day so I may as well not hold back any longer. Ladies,
homosexualist and those who are too young to appreciate the female form may wish to turn away now.
It's time to talk All-Star game y'all. More to the point it is time to start voting for the team
that will face West Ham up there in Canuckistan in July. Voting has opened at MLSnet and I would
encourage you all to get in there and make your opinion heard (just like in the real election).
Keep an eye on Twitter for the next few days. There is now an "MLS Insider" who'll be
dropping exclusive behind the scenes nuggets from Toronto in the run up to Thursday night's
All-Star game. Want to know what's going on at West Ham's practice or if Kanye West is in the
building to performance with Estelle?
So that's 1 point for Shep, 1 kabillion for Becks. Not that anyone is keeping score.
After hearing names like Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Newcastle, it appears MLS has decided on West
Ham United as their opposition for the 2008 All-Star game on July 24. This year's game will take
place on the fake grass in Toronto.
As to why West Ham? Perhaps this game is part of the clubs attempt to rebuild their image after the
Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano blunder from last season or maybe their are a bunch of Hammer
supporters hiding out in Canada that no one knows about.
(Summary is not available.)
Come All-Star time, Toronto may be awash with claret & blue...and it almost certainly won't be due
to an influx of Rapids supporters. A little birdy from ESPN named Kristian Dyer tells me that MLS
is close to announcing that the opponent for the 2008 MLS All Star Game will be English Premier
League club West Ham.
That green stuff is FieldTurf. That black stuff is the rubber gunk they pepper into the FieldTurf
to make it softer and give the blades more support. And that shiny circular thing? That is the
"lucky quid" (a pound coin) that some traveling West Ham hid in the corner of BMO Field's
pitch yesterday in their attempt to make there own luck tonight against the All Star team.
If you are in TO tonight, hometown hero DeWayne DeRosario is holding the after party of all MLS All
Star Game after party's at Inside on Richmond St. Now I've never been there so I can't fully
co-sign on the place but as this video clearly shows at the :29 second mark the venue is not a
stranger to sexy, Asian girl-on-girl action.
I love tabloid tattle and gossip. Perhaps it was too much time spent reading The Daily Mail and The
Sun on my daily commute when I lived in London. And no one does it nearly as good as the British;
the only things they've ever been better at are playing long-ball and imperialism. And we know how
both of those worked out.
It might not seem like it, but the MLS season is barreling toward the midway point, which means
it's getting to be that time to vote for the MLS All-Star Game. Fan Balloting has been under way
for quite some time but media were only given their ballots this week.
This got me wondering what lineup you, the SBI Mafia, would vote for to play against West Ham
United in this summer's All-Star Game.

Just a quick note that Sacha Kljestan appreciates your support. He wrote a little something on The
Original Winger about what it means to him to be selected for the All-Star team. Congrats dog...I
hope you both on-and-off the field in Toronto.
I just read a press release trumpeting the unfortunate fact that the All Star game will be played
on FieldTurf, "the latest in synthetic turf innovation." Folks, this is like bragging
about getting some hot, Fleshlight™ action from some girl you brought back from the club; I
mean it'll do, but it's probably not something you want to go around telling people.
Here's a link to The Don's State of the League address that was alluded to earlier today in a post
about expansion. Click here to find out what's what on expansion, the standard of play on the
field, fixture congestion and all kinds of other stuff that will be 13 page threads on Bigsoccer
before the sun goes down.
The Toronto Star is reporting that West Ham United, they of the wrong end of three consecutive 4-0
losses, will come to Toronto this summer and be the opponent for the MLS All-Stars. It would be the
fourth straight year in which a British team has traveled across the Atlantic to play in the MLS'
annual summer showcase, with the home side winning each of the previous three encounters.
If I could just say that I'm very much down with the 2008 All-Star game halftime entertainment
selection. Estelle is a tiny little thing from London who runs around with John Legend and Kanye
West. Her jam "Wait a Minute" was one the office jams at TOR Towers this past winter and
the follow-up "American Boy" wasn't bad either.
