Ashley Young spared Manchester United an embarrassing result with a goal in injury time as the
defending Premier League champions squandered a two-goal lead over FC Basel and were forced to
settle for a 3-3 draw in UEFA Champions League play at Old Trafford.
Manchester City's eventful week went from bad to worse when the club confirmed that Carlos Tevez
has been suspended until his alleged refusal to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich is
fully reviewed.
The joint Barclays Premier League leaders suffered a humbling 2-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena as
German international striker Mario Gomez once again proved his mettle.
Mario Gomez grabbed 4 goals in Bayern Munich's 7-0 rout of Freiburg at the
Allianz Arena today, the win sees Bayern top of the Bundesliga on goal difference from Werder
Bremen with 12 points each after five games played.
Franck Ribery loves life without Louis. And it starts to show on the pitch. One
of the best games of the French winger in a while. Robbery sounds great on paper. In reality it was
usually about Arjen Robben cutting inside and scoring decisive goals, while Ribery was doubled,
frustrated and ineffective.
It is a difficult group because in hat number four we got the most difficult team.
Dortmund were in [that] hat, where you expect usually a team who will be easier to play.
They are the team who is coming up in Germany, who have dominated the last year in German
football and who will certainly be the most dangerous team for us, with Marseille.
Manchester City didn't actually started their Champions League campaign with a bang after only
picking up a draw at home against Napoli few weeks ago, and this midweek tougher task awaits them
as Bayern Munich awaits them at Allianz Arena.
Playing away to the current Bundesliga leader won't be an easy match for Roberto Mancini's side
but one of City's stars, David Silva, ensured everyone that their team isn't afraid and ready to
play an attacking football against the Bavarian.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was left livid after Carlos Tevez refused to go on as a
substitute in City's 2-0 defeat against Bayern in tonight's Champions League.
Mancini told reporters Tevez was finished at City as long as he was boss after
his refusal to go on as a sub with just over half an hour left on the clock and City trailing 2-0
after a brace from Bayern striker Mario Gomez at the Allianz Arena tonight.
Dominating the premier league so far, two Manchester teams haven't really set the lights up in
Europe as until match day two, both teams yet to taste victories.
This midweek, Manchester City was beaten by superior Bayern Munich, while Manchester United
scraps a draw against surprising Swiss outfit, FC Basel in an extremely thrilling game which saw
Sir Alex Ferguson's team blowing away a two goals lead in the first half.
I think Graeme Souness restrained himself magnificently when describing Carlos Tevez after the
striker's refusal to come off the bench for Man City in Munich.
The former Liverpool hero described the Argentine as a "bad apple" and says the club need to get
rid of him ASAP.
Now I'm probably not alone in thinking that Tevez represents more than a ‘bad apple'.
From one recalcitrant to another, we have Mancini's first test: curing a suicidal
Manchester City malaise (by Darshan Joshi)
At least Roberto Mancini's selection headaches are thinning. The petulance of Edin
Džeko will see the Bosnian left out of City's weekend clash with Blackburn, while Carlos Tévez's
latest insipid tirade has seen Mancini finally pull the plug on last season's top goalscorer.

Carlos Tevez is finished at Manchester City, says Roberto Mancini | Football | The Guardian.
In one of the most bizarre moments on any soccer field that I can remember, Manchester
City striker Carlos Tevez urinated all over himself again by refusing, yes refusing, to come on as
a substitute in the second half of City's Champions League Group game against Bayern Munich at the
Allianz Arena today.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is adamant Carlos Tevez will never play for Manchester City
again after the striker apparently refused to play in last night's 2-0 Champions League defeat
against Bayern Munich.
Tevez was named as a substitute for the game at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday but appeared to not
want to come on when asked to in the second half, something the wantaway forward has denied.

Blues. The visitors are already down by two goal when Mancini motioned for the Argentine forward to
sub on for the final 30 minutes.

Man City were given a bit of a humbling by Bayern Munich in the Champions League last night,
eventually going down 2-0 in the Allianz Arena courtesy of a brace from Mario Gomez.
However, the major talking point emanated from the City bench where, according to a pretty
peeved Roberto Mancini, Carlos Tevez flatly refused to enter the fray as a second-half substitute a
claim that Tevez himself has denied this morning, citing that he was 'ready to play' and that it
was all just a big 'misunderstanding'.

The people's player is getting a bit of a earful back home. Pablo Ramon for Ole:
" At Man Utd, Carlos Tevez enjoyed an idolatry that fell apart when the two parted company.
Now he is ending in the other half of the city by ruining his reputation."
" What Tevez seems to forget, to rebel is one thing, to confuse rights with obligations is
yet another.
