While the match between the MLS All-Stars and Manchester United on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at
Reliant Stadium is the focus of the MLS All-Star festivities, there are other events leading up to
that match worth checking out if you're in Houston.
One such event is the MLS All-Star Celebrity Soccer Match, which will take place on Tuesday July
27th at 5:00 pm at Discovery Green in downtown Houston.
We're all still reeling from Steve Zakuani picking one of the Congos over the Nats - this is
exactly the kind of Afrosnobbery that I find infuriating.
But the USMNT marches on. Via DuNord and others, I'm sure we all enjoyed South Africa fans whining
about the low quality of our roster, and the Bafana(2) backup singer predicting a huge defeat for
the US.
Just looking through some of the pre-season predictions around the soccer world, today's matchup
would appear to be a huge mismatch. While the Sounders are predicted to make the playoffs almost
unanimously, the Union are expected to finish in dead last by almost the exact same margin.
Among those throwing their support behind the Sounders are Soccer Inside Steven Goff and Soccer
America who each predict at least a conference title; Climbing the Ladder and 3rd Degree goes one
step further and predicts a MLS championship; even RSL Soapbox thinks we'll finish on top of the
conference.
Good Afternoon! Just a couple of days before the massive, massive away fixture @PPL Park, so let's
examine some of the RBNY news from this past week (and even from the week before):
Two players Mr. Backe coveted this season, Luke Rodgers and Jan Gunnar Solli, are still on the RBNY
radar.
LA is the sh*t, the Revs are sh*tty and the West is the best: this is the state of MLS today
according to Allen Hopkins. And not that it has to do with anything but is that suit Steve
Harvey-purple? I can't tell, my eyesight is going.
