If you are like me, you are still burning over the exclusion of Carlos Valdes and Sheanon
Williams by the group of unnamed "media experts" from the All-Star ballot.
Well, starting today, you can stick it to the man and voice your choice
You can vote for MLS players NOT included on the fan ballot via Twitter between June 17-20.
US National Team player and Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan will sit out this week's MLS

NEW! Alexi Lalas MLS blog: An All-Star XI that I think could give Man United a
game

"30 Rock" star and stand up comedian Judah Friedlander has been making the American soccer rounds
of late and he appears in this pretty hilarious commercial for the Major League Soccer All-Star
Game (July 27 vs. Manchester United... like it says at the end of the clip).
I'd like to see Friedlander ball it up at next year's "Showdown in Chinatown" charity match.

Tonight in New York, Major League Soccer's biggest game of the year takes place as the MLS
All-Stars face off against Manchester United of the English Premier League.
What a credit to MLS that All-Star game was.
Let's do that next year, too, so we can add to the 9-2 aggregate score of the last two
years.
Can you imagine how many converts to the league there will be because of this game?
Don't listen to critics like this - they have no clue.
Mike Woitalla of Soccer America reports on the rising attendance figures in Major League
Soccer.
MLS crowds before the All-Star break were up from last season's average at the midseason point. For
MLS attendance rankings ...
* At the All-Star break, MLS's attendance average of 17,417 is more than a 6 percent increase from
its 2010 midseason mark.
With the Generation adidas class completed (we think), and the MLS Combine fast approaching, the
2011 MLS Draft class has really started to take shape.
A total of 10 Generation adidas players lead a strong crop of players that will also include
five non-college international players (among them John "Wayne's my brother" Rooney).
Sorry for the sudden dearth of news and links yesterday. I'm not sure if everybody took the day
off or what, but there was a serious dearth of anything at all relating to the Portland Timbers and
very few articles regarding other MLS teams. All in all it was just kind of weird. Today has been a
little better, especially since I was able to scrap together two days worth of links, but it's
still a little light considering.
The 2011 MLS All Star jersey hit the league's online store today and well the look of the kit is
rather interesting.
Yeah I don't know folks. Maybe it wil look better as the real thing.
By Cesar Diaz – NEW YORK, NY (Jun 24, 2011) US Soccer Players -- On Wednesday, June 22, 2011, the
Steve Nash Foundation hosted their fourth Annual "Showdown in Chinatown" 8 v 8 soccer match at the
Sarah D. Roosevelt Park located at Chrystie St. & Staton St in Manhattan. This year's Showdown in
Chinatown event featured an All-Star roster that raised funds for The Steve Nash Foundation and its
work with underserved children.
Nearly 40 of Madison's top men's soccer players were in action Friday night at Breese Stevens
Field as the Madison 56ers faced a Madison Soccer Association All-Star team in a friendly
match.
There was plenty of familiarity between the teams and plenty of late excitement, too, as the MSA
All-Stars scored twice in the final 5 minutes to forge a 2-2 draw.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Jul 11, 2011) US Soccer Players -- First off, congratulations to
the National Team players that made the MLS All-Star first XI: Landon Donovan, Omar Gonzalez, Sean
Franklin, Tim Ream, Brek Shea, Chris Wondolowski, Kasey Keller who never officially retired from
international duty, and potential National Teamers Jack Jewsbury and Matt Besler.
US National Team player and New York Red Bulls forward Juan Agudelo and Sporting Kansas City
designated player Omar Bravo will be joining Major League Soccer's All-Star squad as the two
Commissioner's Picks. MLS commissioner Don Garber made the announcement on Saturday. "Juan Agudelo
is one of the bright young stars in Major League Soccer and a prime example of the benefits of the
MLS Homegrown player initiative and our focus on MLS club academies,".
Today during half of today's Colorado vs Seattle, commissioner, Don Garber announced the two
commissioner's picks for this year's all star game against Manchester United. The two players
selected by Garber were New York Red Bulls' Juan Agudelo and Sporting KC's designated player, Omar
Bravo. Bravo joins teammate Matt Besler on the All Star team that will play Manchester United on
July 27th at Red Bull Arena.
It's the Girls in the Cheap Seats World Cup final live post-game show! Co-hosted by Jared DuBois
from the American Soccer Show and with an all-star guest lineup, Amanda, Kirsten, and Megan review
the final of the Women's World Cup. We get reactions from Alexi Lalas and from Joan of Cross
Conference, analyze the match and the tournament from every possible angle (or as much as we could
in an hour), and try to figure out what it all means for WPS, US Soccer, and the sport as a
whole.
I didn't see most of the knockout round games the USA played at the Women's World Cup. As much
as I love Abby Wambach and friends, there are at least two other people in this world who trump
their athletic exploits. And so I spent the Brazil match in a car. I spent the France match . . .
also in a car.

At three different points of the year MLS Commissioner Don Garber makes the big time media
rounds and talks about the future of Major League Soccer. Tonight's All-Star Game is one of those
times. MLS is getting really good, despite all the times they are the brunt of jokes, at getting
exposure. This week they've done the traditional morning shows, as well as hosted a series of
events throughout Manhattan.

Red Bull Arena is the site as Manchester United continues their raucous North American tour.
After watching the most recent Major League Soccer All-Star clash against Premier League
champions Manchester United I began to think about the current format. For the second year in a row
the Red Devils showed just how much talent they have as a team compared to the squad that MLS
assembled. But really, is that much of a surprise?

Alright, you've seen me allude to it before and you all know I do not like improper info being
floated in transfer scenes and the emails queries are flying in - so as much as I wanted to
continue sitting on this, there's nothing to do but spill. Earlier today, NYT all-star Jack Bell
posted this revelatory bit about Arsenal possibly sizing up Tim Ream and most of it is basically on
the money.
The Montreal Impact selected Bobby Burling in the expansion draft yesterday. Head coach Jesse
Marsch played with Burling on Chivas USA from 2007 to 2009. Marsch played as a defensive midfielder
and Burling played as a defender while on Chivas USA. As such, Marsch was happy to select Burling
during the expansion draft.
The Colorado Rapids announced their first roster move of the New Year on Monday by signing
defender Tyrone Marshall. Per club and league policies, financial terms of the transaction were not
disclosed.
Marshall is officially added to the club's roster after being selected by Colorado with the 16th
pick in Stage 2 of the 2010 Major League Soccer Re-Entry Process on Dec.
Although MLS may have stopped providing possession statistics long ago, you don't have to be a
math major to notice that the New England Revolution's possession percentage fell well south of 50%
for the majority of the 2010 season.
With the worst defense in MLS and the worst offense in team history in 2010, there's plenty of
blame to go around for the Revs disappointing year.
Brandon Roy has notoriously bad knees. After sitting out a number of games due to knee pain, the
star guard for the Portland Trail Blazers is undergoing surgery on both knees. The surgeries will
be arthroscopic and will take place next week. When Roy will return to the Blazers is unknown.
There's a rising chance that he'll be forced to sit out the rest of the season.
The Boston Celtics lost Game 7 last year in Los Angeles as the Lakers won their second straight
NBA championship. On Sunday, the Celtics got their revenge. After outscoring the Lakers 59-42 in
the second half, the Celtics posted a 109-96 victory despite Kobe Bryant pouring in 41 points in 38
minutes.
When physically and mentally healthy, Justin Duchscherer is a heck of a pitcher. In fact, he's
been named to the All-Star team twice in his career. However, being healthy hasn't been a small
task for the talented hurler. The Baltimore Orioles decided to bet on his health by signing
Duchscherer to a one-year deal worth as much as $4.

The Cleveland Cavaliers recently set the all-time NBA record by losing 26 straight games. On
Wednesday, the Cavs went from the lowest of the low to feeling pretty good about themselves. In a
stunning turn of events, the Cavs beat the Los Angeles Lakers in Cleveland by a final score of
104-99.
How could this happen?
