Jay Bruce is regarded by many as one of the best young outfielders in the game. The Cincinnati Reds agree and have locked up Jay Bruce with a $51 million deal over six seasons. There is also a $12 million team option for a seventh season. The 23-year-old outfielder just completed his third season with the Reds.

The Colorado Rapids took a page from the past on Wednesday and drafted a former member of the club in the second round of the re-entry draft.

The Rapids selected defender Tyrone Marshall with the 16th pick in Stage 2 of the 2010 Major League Soccer Re-Entry Process.

By drafting Marshall, the Rapids are now required to make an offer to him within seven days.

The Portland Timbers made a move to upgrade in goal yesterday by swapping keepers with D.C. United, sending Steve Cronin to the nation's capital in exchange for Troy Perkins. It was the two club's second trade of the offseason; during the expansion draft D.C. sent Portland Rodney Wallace for first overall pick Dax McCarty from Dallas.

Madison's Max Ermakoff was named to the All-Star team for his age group at last month's U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Thanksgiving Interregional in Orlando, Fla.

Ermakoff, who plays for the Madison 56ers, was one of 18 players honored among the younger 1987 players.
