In case you where wondering what's going on with The League Formerly Known as MISL, there will be
an announcement on September 16th that will reveal the details on indoor soccer's latest
incarnation. But all you really need to know is that the revamped league will be called....wait for
it.
One of the major story lines heading into the 2008 MLS season was the big influx of foreign
players. Concerns about there being too much reliance on foreign talent weighed on the minds of
some MLS fans as more teams looked abroad to fill the needs of a growing league.
If the group of players named to the 2008 MLS All-Star First XI is any indication, those concerns
may have been a bit premature.
Imagine an all-star team of footballers featuring the top names in the sport. Cristiano Ronaldo,
Kaka, Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres, Thierry Henry, Robinho and David Villa. Now imagine all of
these players on the same team, Manchester City. Before yesterday, that notion sounded ridiculous,
but now that the Abu Dhabi United Group is in charge of [.
First of all, congrats to Angel, who came off the bench in the second half for Blanco, and did
an excellent job, with a goal being waved off. Shame. It was a hell of a finish.
But the All Star Game isn't the only thing on Juanpies mind!
Angel recently had "productive" discussions with Colombian National Team Coach Jorge
Luis Pinto.

Un espectacular pase de gol y el anotar un excelente tiro fueron sus credenciales, una vez opaco al

Keep an eye on Twitter for the next few days. There is now an "MLS Insider" who'll be
dropping exclusive behind the scenes nuggets from Toronto in the run up to Thursday night's
All-Star game. Want to know what's going on at West Ham's practice or if Kanye West is in the
building to performance with Estelle?
Overseas interest in Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni is at an all-time high right now,
with two possible countries emerging as his most likely destination for next year: Spain and
Italy.Mastroeni has always spoken of his desire to ply his trade in Europe before he calls it a
career. Italian club Cagliari has expressed interest in the US international midfielder in the
past, as have several Serie B clubs, but the newest teams to enter the hunt are reportedly Spain's
Malaga and Real Betis.
A lot of you have been surprised with the All-Star selection of FC Dallas midfielder Juan Toja. I
know I have been but a good discussion has come out of it, is the league preparing to shop Toja to
a club elsewhere by showing him off in an All-Star event? It is possible. There have been rumors
[...]
As the All-Star rosters are now official, its time to put together the group of eleven that didn't
make but had a damn good reason for making it. I've stated my opinion on some that got snubbed but
figured that it would be best to put out a full starting lineup of guys that didn't [...]
I figure since I am going on vacation next week and the deadline is rapidly approaching for my
All-Star ballot to be turned in I would post about it today. Feel free to take a stab or three at
my picks with some of your own. Who knows I may change my mind before I [...]
Commissioner Garber just named Edson to the All-Star team. He also selected Dwayne
DeRosario as the other of his two picks. Congrats Edson!! Keep up the scoring streak we
need it!
There's a growing sense that the Colorado Rapids may be able to take advantage of
a weakened Dallas side this weekend and further consolidate the good momentum which started with
the July 4 victory against the New York Red Bulls. Contrary to the doubters out there, last
weekend's 1-1 draw with San Jose was a point well won.
Later on today we should get the final US Olympic roster, which will more than likely mean a few
All-Star slots for the MLS side will open up. Michael Parkhurst, Robbie Rogers and Maurice Edu will
all probably get the call to the Olympics and will create those three open slots. Who's going to
get to [.
Is Juan Toja about to play his final match as a MLS player?
Rumor has it that the longhair midfielder will fly to Romania tonight, after the All-Star match, to
finish a deal with Romanian powerhouse Steaua Bucharest.
Then again, it is just a rumor. Accord to FCD coach Schellas Hyndman, "I expect him here to
play against LA (on Sunday).
America's Major League Soccer All Star XI defeated West Ham United 3-2 in a preseason friendly.
Dean Ashton was the standout performer of the match as he notched both of West Ham's goals. Carlton
Cole partnered Ashton up top and was largely ineffective throughout the match, stressing the need
for a healthy Craig Bellamy.

MLSnet.com, the online home of America's top soccer league, is currently

I've always found it easier to pick "dream teams" with more restrictions imposed on me;
choosing an all-time or current XI from among the world's brightest stars is impossible,
considering the calibre of player that must be left out to accommodate eleven players in a
reasonable formation. Fortunately, picking an all-star XI from the European [.
With only a couple weeks left to vote, fans are starting to pile on the votes for their favorite
players in Major League Soccer for this summer's All-Star game in Toronto. Not a lot of changes at
the top of the overall voting list.In fact that top three remain: David Beckham Landon Donovan
Cuauhtemoc Blanco Once you get by the [.
I watched the LA Galaxy clobber the San Jose Earthquakes last weekend thanks to
Edson Buddle's hat trick. David Beckham's name was barely mentioned a half dozen times, he was that
inconsequential in the win. So far he has been rugged, injury free, playing almost a 1000 minutes,
scoring some important goals, and assisting in half a dozen more.
Chivas USA defeated the Earthquakes on Saturday at the HDC. Ante Razov curled a world class ball
off a set piece past Joe Cannon and the wall late in the game to provide the only goal.
San Jose was a little tougher than expected, but Yallop has the quakes playing aggressive with
pressure.
The difference in this game is again the easily flustered Galaxy defense, who froze as Sacha
Kljestan, proving why he was a deserving pick in today's announced MLS All-Star XI, ran menacingly
at them to lay the ball back to Ante Razov, who sent an assured, perfectly-placed strike out of the
reach of Cronin for the 113th goal of his career.
Small slate of games this weekend in Major League Soccer, mostly due to this time of year being
close to the All-Star break and due to four MLS clubs participating in SuperLiga against the best
from Mexico (more on that later). The small slate is only taking place on Saturday night, with six
clubs involved.
Tune in to Revolution Recap this Sunday at 7:05PM either on WNRI AM 1380, which has a signal well

Featured in the show will be:

Alpha Dog 1. New England Revolution (WDLWW) Nobody did much to threaten the Revs lofty position
atop the Dogpile, despite their absence from the MLS fixture list due to SuperLiga. Only United and
the Crew were really in any position to do so, and United faces SuperLiga as well, while the Crew
went down to RSL.
According to this article on Goal the NY Times Goal blog....
"I've been a fan of the team since I was six," Nash said of the Whitecaps. "I

optimistic and we're hoping to have some good news at the M.

The MLS All-Star extravaganza is in a couple days. Let's look at some standings after a bunch of

Talk in the Big D today centers around All-Star midfielder Juan Toja and his possible transfer to
FC Steaua Bucureşti in Romania. Diego Aparicio of Al Dia here in Dallas reports today that the
Romanian side upped their offer from $500,00 to between $1 million and $1.5 million. **Translation

David Beckham has admitted he is relishing the prospect of returning to London's East End as he
prepares for his clash with West Ham for an all-star MLS team tonight (Thursday). Former Manchester
United star Beckham will front the Americans' side, and after growing up and beginning his football
career in the capital, the LA Galaxy [.
You see what new kicks Beckham's gonna be wearing for tonight's all-star game?
That green stuff is FieldTurf. That black stuff is the rubber gunk they pepper into the FieldTurf
to make it softer and give the blades more support. And that shiny circular thing? That is the
"lucky quid" (a pound coin) that some traveling West Ham hid in the corner of BMO Field's
pitch yesterday in their attempt to make there own luck tonight against the All Star team.

I'm going to do something new this season. After every round of games that is to say, after any

into account the rare Monday night game) I'm going to name an All-Star Team based [...]
Toronto FC head coach John Carver has placed himself in front of the firing squad, saying that he
doesn't deserve his job next season if TFC can't make a respectable showing in their final five
games of the season.
The second-year franchise started the season off well, using solid player acquisitions and strong
play at home to beat everyone's early expectations.
FC Dallas and the Dynamo get it on tonight for what is already their third meeting this season.
Strange to see their series completed for the year before the All-Star break, but such are the
eccentricities of MLS scheduling.
Utilizing my special insight as a native of The Lone Star State I am able to make the following
prediction for the match: it will be hot, at least in regard to temperature.
