Chin up for Van Persie’s sake, for the club’s sake

Gunners Today 15 November @ 12:16 PM EST

On the surface Van Persie's latest setback is a major blow to our team. Dare I say it, it could prove to be even more significant than Cesc's injury last year which ruled him out for 4 months.

We've played without either Arshavin or Cesc in games this season. Yet it is only the Carling Cup where Van Persie hasn't featured.

Arsenal Are Just Never Good Enough

Arsenal Station 11 November @ 09:04 AM EST

Despite getting off to a start that has gone beyond all expectations, the football pundits continue to dig around for any reason to stick to their idiotic pre-season predictions of Arsenal's impending doom and gloom. The club is 15-2-2 overall having scored 55 goals, 10-0 at home having scored 33 goals at the Emirates.

Gunners fired up for a ton of goals

Arsenal Insider 09 November @ 05:26 AM EST

by CARL ELDRIDGE The goal-hungry Gunners are on course for a record-breaking ton of Premier League goals.

And this merits mention in today's Press with the Daily Mirror telling us that Arsene Wenger's men notched four more goals at Wolves to take their top-flight tally to 36 already in just 11 games.

Wolves torn to shreds - the headline I promised I wouldn't write. Match report.

Arsereview 08 November @ 09:57 AM EST
A couple of weeks ago, it was hard to know whether to be optimistic or pessimistic. Many commented that the general criticism of Arsenal post-West Ham was over-the-top.
But the problem was, that on the 29th of October 2008, at about 9.30, the season so far had provided enough to be pretty optimistic. Click to continue reading...

Wednesday’s win over Alkmaar was more important that it may have seemed

The Beautiful Groan 06 November @ 10:23 AM EST

The 4-1 thumping of Alkmaar in midweek was an immensely satisfying affair, a triumph of footballing philosophy over the defensive nous of coaches such as Ronald Koeman, and yet another demonstration that this Arsenal team is serious about combining footballing beauty with tangible success.

But prior the the match, there was a definite sense of relaxation amongst the fans, as if the game really didn't matter, so assured was our progress regardless of the result.

Calcio, Champions: Risultati e classifiche.

Arsenal on Cruise Control

Arsenal Station 05 November @ 11:18 PM EST

It was just one of those nights. Kind of like the home wins over Sevilla or Slavia Prague match in 2007. Arsenal came off 3-nil win over Spurs at the weekend, in which they had never really hit 3rd gear, and rode that 3rd gear for much of the Champions League match with AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal unravel unparalleled attacking depth with win over AZ

Arsenal attacked AZ Alkmaar with speed and purpose to all but seal their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

UEFA Champions League: Lyon adds to Liverpool woes, Sevilla clinches knockout spot

Soccer By Ives 05 November @ 09:10 AM EST

Liverpool was so close to victory yesterday in Lyon. After giving Lyon their best for 83 minutes, a Ryan Babel wonder goal broke the deadlock, handing Rafa and the Reds a lifeline in Group E. A win against the French powerhouse would throw them back in the thick of things. But it was not to be, as Lisandro Lopez capitalized on some poor Liverpool defending to snatch a 1-1 draw that sealed Lyon's passage to the knockout stage.

Samir: Let it go Fab, they can't help it if they're that bad

Ok. I'll admit if you think that's lame but that pretty much sums up the match doesn't it. Andrey Arshavin had a blast as Arsenal met (thrash) Alkmaar in the Champions League encounter last night. Qualification is not mathematically secured yet but it would take a miraculous set of results for Arsenal not to go through.

Lets Hope This Trend Doesn't Catch on in MLS

Ooh la la!

Leave it to those Italians.

Juventus' Paolo De Ceglie, left, and Giorgio Chiellini, right, not only gave their shirts to fans in the wake of the Italian club's 1-0 victory over Maccabi Haifa in Israel Tuesday, but their shorts, too. (AP Photo).

I offer this picture not so much so we can ogle Italian bums (although my wife, ahem, begs to differ), but as a vivid reminder that the UEFA Champions League is on again today.
