Unsurprisingly, Ghana lead the list of nominees for the African Footballer of the
Year
The short list of nominees up for the African Footballer of the Year have been making their way
into the press this morning. Not surprising that Ghana lead the list along with some other
predictable nominations .
Right, we've got the usual tabloid nonsense out the way for this week (presumably Wayne will be
taking some chocolate back to Coleen in Manchester to make amends for his 'indiscretion'
although it's probably just as well that duty free cigarettes have been abolished) so on with the
football.
Group G is already looking good (we won and Wales shot themselves in the foot
yet again) and although the reporter on the BBC lunchtime news thinks this is our toughest
group game, I'm going to be a bit controversial and suggest otherwise Switzerland haven't been
doing particularly well at home and their World Cup win over eventual champions
Spain was a fluke (check the stats at the bottom of the page) rather than an
exhibition of how good they are at football.

November, with Equatorial Guinea (defending champions), Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Algeria, Mali,
Tanzania and hosts South Africa to be divided into two round-robin groups.
The poster known as "projectx" on the Riot Squad boards - I dunno if he posts here or not - informs
us that the Galaxy have clinched a playoff spot after all, and that Major League Soccer Soccer is
wrong, or at least guilty of the sin of omission. The premise is simple: Eight teams besides Los
Angeles can theoretically get to 51 points.
