World Cup 2010 8 Young Players to Watch is a post from: Just Football
Every four years, a young player emerges and blossoms into a star at the World Cup. Often the
young player comes off the bench in the first game, and then during the rest of the tournaments,
he's the main man.
It is hard to predict exactly which players will be prominent at this kind of tournament, as
lots of coaches pick young players with energy and fresh legs to do the damage at the latter
stages of a tense game.
It turns out that there are two crazy managers from Argentina at this summer's World
Cup. One is Diego Maradona, the only manager at the tournament who has requested his
own luxury toilet seat. The other is Marcelo Bielsa, whose meticulous – almost obsessive
– attention to detail has earned him the nickname "El Loco.
Chile 1
Honduras 0
An impressive Chile defeated Honduras with ease as they arrived at the World Cup with a
deserved win.
Esteban Paredes gave the game a needed good start, hitting a rasping 25 yard free kick that was
just about covered by keeper Honduras Valladares.
Star striker Suazo was missing. For both teams. David Suazo of Honduras and Humberto Suazo of Chile
both sat this out with injuries, and the absence of the two established strikers showed. For Chile
more than Honduras though, since it was La Roja that had most of the ball and the majority of shots
(20, believe it or not).

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly keeping a close eye on Chilean wonderkid
Alexis Sanchez with a view to making a move for the Udinese man this summer.
We've finally had some action then, some goals, some intrigue, some French embarrassment. The
World Cup has truly begun. It's a week late, but, nevertheless, it is here. And now that the
tournament is finally coming alive, we can have a genuine glance at the myriad of young talent on
show.
First on the scout's shortlist should be Chile's young forward Alexis Sanchez.
Welcome to the most infuriating window in football: the post-big tournament transfer season.
There is nothing more nauseating, unsettling or frustrating than watching rumor after rumor spill
out onto the pages as journalists do their best to match which successful tournament performance
matches with a particular team.
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he is tracking the progress of Udinese striker Alexis
Sanchez.
The Chilean forward is regarded as one of football's brightest talents and has been linked with
a host of top clubs in the past.
"We have looked at Sanchez and he has impressed us, as have other players,"Ferguson said.
The summer saw a number of ins and outs at Udinese, the Zebrette were subject to a number of moves
for their stars who had just performed well in the World Cup in South Africa, surprising for a side
that flirted so closely with relegation the previous season, but they managed to keep hold of their
stars for the forthcoming season even if they did change their coach.
