Group E is one of the deepest groups in the World Cup as each nation will believe that they have the ability to advance to the knock out stages.

The Netherlands have always relied on their attacking flair and in 2010, the story remains the same as Wesley Sneijder and Robin Van Persie lead a fierce dutch attack.

Not too much going on in actual Arsenal-related news today, so we focus on the World Cup:

The biggest Arsenal-related story is that Cameroon coach Paul Le Guen is apparently probably going to be leaving Alex Song on the bench tomorrow when Cameroon open their campaign against Japan. According to Le Guen:

Alexandre Song may not start the first match against Japan.

It's hard to imagine really but these days Alexandre Song has become one of the first names on the Arsenal team sheet.

This game saw the biggest shock of the ACN so far, with Hull City striker Daniel Cousin's goal proving enough for Gabon to claim a famous win over Cameroon's not-so-Indomitable Lions.

The trend so far: the teams in Angola that have also qualified for this summer's World Cup don't seem to be giving their all, which is entirely understandable given the size of the prize in South Africa.

Egypt would almost certainly have beaten Cameroon in their ACN quarter-final without the help of an officiating f**k-up, but Ahmed Hassan's free-kick, which made the score 3-1 to the holders, was NOT a goal, clearly:

It sounds too simple, but the difference between Arsenal and Manchester United on Sunday was finishing. Both teams had several chances in front of goal. Manchester United scored most of them. Arsenal missed all of them except for one deflection.

There were several shots from Arsenal that skimmed past the post or straight at Edwin van der Sar.

Cameroon has qualified for more World Cups than any other African nation.

Cameroon looked impotent in attack against Japan and coach Paul Le Guen may opt to use Samuel Eto'o in a more central role rather than wide right.

Sol Campbell who did quite well as Thomas Vermaelen's central partner after William Gallas was ruled injured for the rest of the season in April is all set for a Toon move.

Which obviously means that Arsenal only has Vermaelen left with substantial experience as Laurent Koscielny is too raw and Johan Djourou is returning after a year's layoff from injury.

For USMNT fans there is some solace; the 2011 Gold Cup and its right for the winner to compete in the 2013 Confederations Cup.

No, this isn't the entry list for the Cannes Film festival short production section or an assessment of the Juventus squad. It's just the scenario facing Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. Respectively, Arsenal are a defender short, Manchester Untied a central midfielder and Chelsea a striker.
