By 1970's GoonerArsenal's most improved player this season has been Alexandre Song. His
performances in the centre of midfield have been just short of excellent. He has grown in that role
in leaps and bounds this season, showing tenacity, strong tackling and learning to distribute
accurately. But his performances last season and in the last few games of this, in the heart of the
defence have also

It looks like a few teams in the Premier League could suffer a fair bit when the African Cup of
Nations 2010 kicks off on Sunday, January 10th 2010. The competition, which always coughs up some
great entertainment, will see approximately 27 Premier League players set off for Angola.
Which clubs are going to suffer?

A young man has developed into a vital cog in our team, this man has been slated by fans and
pundits in the past, but now we pull our hair when Wenger does not pick him. The player in question
in Cameroon international, Alexandre Song.
Wenger bought Song from Bastia, had him on loan for a season and eventually paid €3.
It's late and I haven't been able to come up with sufficient words to describe Saturday's game.
No, it's not that I'm blown away and bedazzled by the Arsenal performance we all expect, it's that
I hope to see more of this on a consistent basis. I realize that I might be coming off a bit on the
picky side, but when you have players on the pitch who can provide quality finishing like Eduardo,
Vela, and to the shock of us all, Eboue, positive results should be normal right?
First, if you haven't done your quiz, stop by this post and make your guesses. Then come back here
for the answers. Well done on the quiz, folks. 12/13 guessed. And don't let it concern you just
because, for the second time, you didn't guess one of my favorite players. [...]

One of the most remarkable things about this season so far apart from the painful fact that we
trail the scum in the table, is the fact our central defender Vermaelen is top scorer. Now is the
fact that we have had thirteen different players score goals in the Premier league a good thing or
something to worry about?
After last season, there have been several doubts over the effectiveness of Denilson, Alexandre
Song and Abou Diaby. Perhaps rightly so in the case of the latter, who so frustratingly seems to
randomly fluctuate between world beater and idiot. Hopefully the extra fitness training he has put
in prior to pre-season will pay off this year (yes, I'm ignoring the accident that caused Nasri's
injury!
Alexandre Song is still at the tender age of 21 but he has become a regular starter in the Arsenal
team, as last season drew to an end Alex had started to reap in the good reviews and comments from
the media and Arsenal fans. After Song started the first Champions League game against Manchester

Well, that brought us all down back to Earth with a sickening thud, didn't it?
The travails of a football fan. As one supporter of a lower division club once said to me, "It's
not the disappointments I can't stand. It's the hope." Never a truer word.
Arsène Wenger is man about whom there is so much to like and admire.
Nil-Nil draws aren't so bad: two composed sides canceling each other out, tense chess matches when
90 minutes isn't enough to separate the sides.
A 4-4 draw can be diverting as well, but watching Arsenal come unglued on 4 separate occasions can
be trying.
Andrey Arshavin's finishing was top drawer, and he scored all 4 of Arsenal's goals from open play.
Well, Wednesday night at Old Trafford wasn't a lot of laughs, was it? We were lucky to score
nil. United could very easily have caned us by four or five and effectively won the tie. I still
think we've got a mountain to climb on Tuesday night. Christiano Ronaldo hitting the woodwork was
our "get out of jail free" card for this round.
The most eagerly awaited news of the day has finally be announced on the official club site.
Thomas Vermaelen is thought to have accepted a four year contract and will no doubt be playing
pre-season.
Attention now turns to which of our centre backs will be leaving the club. If Phillipe Senderos
is wanted by Fiorentia of Italy's Serie A, could this open the door for the transfer of Felipe
Melo?
By 1970's GoonerEnough will be said about the demolition of Everton and the amazing six goals
scored. All the players played a blinder today inclusive of Vermaelen who had a dream debut for
Arsenal. Bendtner and Denilson were exceptional to my mind but I just feel the need to highlight
the world class performance that Alexandre Song put in today.
Arsenal got a deserved victory against what was quite simply an inferior team. Celtic played the
best they possibly could and only mustered one shot in ninety minutes, whereas we played well below
the level that we all know we are capable of and scored twice.
Wenger opted for the same team that annihilated Everton on Saturday almost certainly in the hope
that they would start with the same swagger as they left off at the weekend.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger was clearly riled after we threw away a 2-0 lead in the draw
against West Ham at Upton Park yesterday.
As were the Arsenal hordes as we filed out of the ground with a miserable shuffle in search of a
tincture to ease the pain.
"2-0, and you f***** it up," sung some spanner on the way out of the ground and I questioned why
he felt the need to celebrate a draw.
Treinador francês anunciou nesta quarta-feira os jogadores que disputarão a Copa das Nações
Africanas O técnico do camarões, o francês Paul Le Guen, anunciou nesta quarta-feira o elenco
Having lost Gallas for the season, Almunia and Clichy for three weeks we are now without Djourou
for how long we do not know. What are options and how did the replacements fare on Saturday?
Fabianski had a very shaky game against Wigan. He should have done better with Mido's goal,
he only managed to help it on its way into the net when he should have turned it around the
post.
I shan't dwell too long on yesterday's 1-4 home defeat to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1>
Chelsea. It's far, far too painful. Especially after last Tuesday. More woeful defending and some
woeful goalkeeping from Lukasz Fabianski, in for Manuel Almunia, not risked with an ankle injury,
were responsible for at least three and arguably all four of Chelsea's goals.
Every year it is the same. There will be a club that will drop the Gunners down from the top
four. Two years ago, it was Spurs. Last year it was Villa. This year it is City. Each and every
year, the club has proved them wrong. For a lefty publication, The Guardian really digs high flying
big spenders.
Cameroon sits at the top of Africa's Group A, having climbed from fourth (last) to first during the
last break by virtue of their two wins against Gabon, who previously led the group. The Indomitable
Lions lead Gabon by one point, Togo by two, with a November trip to Morocco to close-out
qualifying.
- Arsenal: Gunners Alexandre Song to 2014
Cameroon international Alexandre Song has put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him
remain at the Emirates until at least 2014. The defensive midfielder has broken through the ranks
at Arsenal over the last two seasons and has now become an important part of Arsene Wenger's first
team plans.
UPDATE: According to Arsenal's official website, Arsenal
midfielder Alexandre Song signed a new long-term contract with the club.
November 24th, 2009 According to James Dall at Sky Sports News,
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that Alex
Song signed a new deal.
Richard Williams does not see what is obvious to Arsenal fans.
" and the unconvincing performance of Alexandre Song, the latest candidate - following the

departures of Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira.
Hello all, and welcome to the not unsurprising news that our spiritual leader has succumbed to
the lure of Barcelona. Not entirely surprising, given his previous with the city. It was only a
matter of time before he answered the call. I expect his Friday night will be spent chatting to the
Barcelona players in their favourite restaurant come nightclub, CDLC.

There were two English Premier League matches on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 including Arsenal
traveling to face Portsmouth. The teams are on the opposite ends of the spectrum as Arsenal is
still in the title chase but Portsmouth are battling relegation. Heading into the match, the
Gunners have two games in hand on Chelsea and in third place.
Arsenal demolished bottom club Portsmouth 4-1 at Fratton Park.
