I make no apologies for paying more attention these days to the World Cup than MLS, but it's a gorgeous day in the South Bay to take in the Galaxy's final home appearance before the World Cup break and a couple of road games; they won't play again in Carson until Independence Day.

Not only are the Galaxy and Chivas USA at opposite ends of the Western Conference they're on opposite sides of the country with the Galaxy hosting the Houston Dynamo (5 p.

A typical match preview is tough to put together when two teams that have nothing to play for are the combatants. Similar to the Fire, Chivas USA is suffering through a miserable season with a new coach after qualifying for the playoffs in 2009. They also played on Wednesday night and were victims of a Chris Wondolowski hat trick en route to a 3-0 defeat in San Jose.

I have no idea how big a deal this is and I get the impression MLS doesn't either.

I'm sure it was essentially a sop to the players under the new labor agreement.

For what it's worth, Jovan Kirovski and Dema Kovalenko for the Galaxy are involved and Marcelo Saragosa and Alex Zotinca (hands up all those who even knew he was on the club's roster) for Chivas USA.
