As you would expect, Sir Alex Ferguson has been quick to out Ashley Cole's shin-high tackle on
Javier Hernandez as 'shocking', adding that the Mexican striker is now likely to miss the next
fortnight with a 'numb leg' see what you make of it...
Remarkably, Cole actually was booked for fouling Hernandez in the area, though
somehow escaped a penalty call with referee Phil Dowd stating that the ball had gone out of play a
split-nano second before the Chelsea left-back planted his studs into his opponent's calf.
Forgive me for feeling a bit smug after predicting a 1-0 win for Stoke against Liverpool last week.
So might Tony Pulis' team be surprise Champions league contenders? Weirder things have
happened.
Liverpool's admittedly slightly freaky loss underlines that it is still pretty much open season
for that fourth Champions league slot.
No disrespect to other clubs, but Sunday's Premier League clash of titans at Old Trafford was a
meeting between the two finest clubs in England over the past decade. And, for once, it didn't just
live up to the media hype it transcended it.
Did that really just happen?

I respect Sir Alex Ferguson. He's a legend in this beautiful game. Fergie does, however, suffer
from a rather irritable case of selective memory loss.
Example of a poor tackle
Ferguson went on the offensive yesterday afternoon with regard to his young, electric
Mexican.
Beware, I suppose, expecting your heroes of yesteryear to still be giants today.
They often disappoint.
I used to think Ronnie Corbett was a comedy giant. Turns out he's a small man with an attitude
problem.
Yet here I am in my thirties and I'm still in raptures about a guy I worshipped when I was eight

Manchester United were keen to bring Wesley Sneijder to the club this summer but a deal could
not be agreed for the player.
Speaking to the Italian media at an awards ceremony at University of Rome Tor Vergata, Sir Alex
Ferguson has today claimed that whilst Sneijder is a great player, he's still not on a level with
Paul Scholes, who retired this summer.
Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez may be on the football scrapheap at the moment but is
certainly not forgotten by Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson who had no hesitation in

Sir Alex Ferguson has defended the touchline antics of Jose Mourinho.
The Real Madrid manager hit the headlines once more after appearing to poke Barcelona assistant
Tito Vilanova in the eye following a recent Spanish Supercopa clash. Many feel such incidents could
cost Mourinho any chance of succeeding Ferguson as Manchester United boss when the Scot eventually
calls time on his stellar career.

The Guv'nor is in town and he's not a happy bunny.
Currently "in between" jobs and probably with an eye on a media position, the tough-tackling
former West Ham United star has let rip at the state of the national team.
"If you get called up, you should make sure you're there, " he explained.

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has obviously had a serious and long-term effect on his
former Premier League rival, Sir Alex Ferguson.
Accoding to the Daily Express, during a recent interview in the offices of an Italian
newspaper, Fergie noticed a photo of Benitez on the wall.
I went into a state of utter despondency at the end of this transfer window, even allowing for
the entry into the Champions League stages failed to lift my spirits. The 8-2 thrashing by
Manchester United rubbed salt into very big wounds. I took a break to reflect, the International
Break helped in a sense, to enable common sense to dawn.
Why I don't want a non-Englishman managing England and that includes
Fergie!
Sir Alex Ferguson is the best manager in the world right now. But would I love to see him in
charge of England? Would I hell. Fergie might be No.1 when it comes to getting the best out of
players, but he has also got Scottish blood coursing through his veins and I know for a fact that
he loves his country.

One's a maniacal serial killer that grooms young girls over the internet and then dispatches
them in fictional woodland, and the other...well, the other is Sir Alex Ferguson.

1. After spending most of last season dreading our away games, how thoroughly refreshing it was
to see United put in a performance like that at a ground we often struggle at. When the chants of
"Are you Arsenal in disguise?" started, with us 3-0 up after 25 minutes, you knew it was going to
be a good day.
Quite interesting comparisons being made ahead of Man United's match against Benfica tonight in
the Champions League with Benfica coach Jorge Jesus claiming that Wayne Rooney is more Brazilian or
Argentinian than English.
An interesting point, Rooney perhaps does play with the ability that often comes with Brazilians
and Argentinians; he's not dissimilar from the likes of Carlos Tevez in the way he's stocky,
powerful and a great goalscorer.
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson claims that greedy, disloyal, diving thug Wayne Rooney has
similarities to the Brazilian maestro Pelé. That may be true in the Twilight Zone, but in reality,
Rooney is not fit to lace Pelé's boots.
In what must have been a fit of drunken fantasy, Ferguson observed:
"Look at Pelé.

In which Sir Alex Ferguson takes umbrage at ITV reporter Kelly Cates' line of questioning
post-Benfica and has a bit of a snippy wee strop, claiming she is 'just looking for stupid little
things' when repeatedly asking about United's goalkeeping situation ahead of this weekend's game
against Chelsea.
After starting Anders Lindegaard in last night's draw away to Benfica, Sir Alex Ferguson has
confirmed that David de Gea will be back in the team on Sunday.
Like with Tomasz Kuszczak last season, Lindegaard will likely play our Champions League group
stage and domestic cup games, whilst de Gea will remain our number one in the league.
Lost amid all the debates and media coverage about the respective merits of David De Gea and
Anders Lindegaard, Tomasz Kuszczak silently fades into oblivion and obscurity, left out in the cold
by Alex Ferguson and stranded at Old Trafford with his only football coming on the Carrington
training ground and in meaningless reserve matches.

In a move which will no doubt have taunted the Elland Road faithful, Sir Alex Ferguson moved
striker Dimitar Berabtov back into a central defensive role (alongside Michael Carrick, no less)
for the final stages of United's comfortable victory over Leeds United on Tuesday evening.

Ashley Young spared Manchester United an embarrassing result with a goal in injury time as the

Manchester United's Tom Cleverley and Phil Jones sat down to speak with FA TV ahead of the
Bulgaria v England Euro 2012 qualifier this week, chatting about Manchester United, Alex Ferguson,
Wayne Rooney and joining the England squad.
Phil Jones was a transfer target for several top clubs this summer, however, as soon as personal
terms were agreed with United, he showed no interest in talking to any other club. In fact,
Liverpool were so desperate to sign him, they offered Blackburn another £6m on the price we had
offered for him, but the player declined to talk to them.

Just look at him, the dirty flirt!
Wes Sneijder has been busy this morning, cork-screwing his metaphorical dagger into the hearts
of thousands of Manchester United fans across the globe by regaling Dutch daily AD with tales of
just how close he came to turning up at Old Trafford over the summer:
"I just felt that it was close, yes [I thought I was going to join Manchester United].
While it's fair to say Sir Alex Ferguson will have been a tad chuffed by Sunday's 8-2 spanking of
Arsenal, it did come at a price for the Manchester United manager following the news that Danny
Welbeck suffered a hamstring injury. The striker had earlier scored his second goal of the season
and the first of his side's eight in this memorable match.
Arsene Wenger was recently in Switzerland with a host of other top European managers to discuss the
future of the game. Other attendees at the UEFA conference included Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep
Guardiola and Andre Villas-Boas. A ccording to the Metro Ajax coach Frank De Boer revealed a
controversial proposal put forward by the Arsenal [.

Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal
This looks like a tough start for the Gunners, especially on the back of their heavy defeat
at the hands of Manchester United in the Premier League. Current Bundesliga Champions
Borussia Dortmund are quietly fancied to do well in this season's Champions League
following some excellent performances in their domestic league last season.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has spoken out about England's failures in major
tournaments over the last few years.
Neville himself was involved in many disappointments for the national team and he has revealed
that even Sir Alex Ferguson couldn't have helped England win major silverware.

Why Spurs chief Levy is my hero of the transfer window for keeping Modric
So who was the star of this transfer window for you? Alex Ferguson for swiftly snapping up two
of England's brightest young talents? Roberto Mancini for bringing in genuine top quality in Sergio
Aguero and Samir Nasri?
Just as it was expected, Manchester City striker, Edin Dzeko received acknowledgment for his
recent fine performances in the league after being named as Barclays Player of the Month.
Obviously the award was designated for the player's fine form in August, scoring in all of Man
City's matches for that month, including the wonderful quart-trick he bagged against Tottenham
Hotspurs on City's latest premiership match.
Back in 1991, English football witnessed the start of a spectacular and exciting league
campaign. Despite Arsenal and Liverpool having shared the tag of Champions in the four years prior,
it was Leeds United and Manchester United that ended up slugging it out for the 1991/1992 title.
Refreshingly for the neutral, neither team had the so-called nous and experience to call upon from
previous title challenges, and it thus culminated into a fascinating story of bravery, belief and
even a calamitous own goal.
Rooney and Young A Promising Partnership For United and England - originally posted on

Rooney and Young, Young and Rooney. The two seemingly go hand in hand. Both have starred in
Manchester United's exceptional start in the quest for a 20thPremier League title. Sir Alex
Ferguson's newly devised weapon is as electrifying as it is frightening.
Sir Alex Ferguson knows his football and although it pains us to say it, he is and will go down in
history as one of the greatest managers in the modern game. He has been asked about this season and
the teams he believes will challenge United to take their title away from them and has once again
spoken of Chelsea.
According to beloved ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville, Liverpool deliberately tried to
‘deprive' Man United of the title in 2010 by ‘easing off' against Chelsea at the tail-end of
Premier league season.
At the time, Liverpool and Man United both had 18 league titles apiece, and a victory over Chelsea
would've handed United the advantage in the race for the title.
