A new internet connection at home has meant a few nights of dodgy connections, which is why the
goals from Wednesday night's match in Lima between Universitario and Lanús won 2-0 by the Peruvian
side are only going up on HEGS now. They're accompanied by some from an astonishing match which has
just [.
Estudiantes opened their defence of the Copa Libertadores with a 5-1 thrashing of surprise Peruvian
qualifiers Juan Aurich on Thursday night. The match opened Group 3 of the Copa, and is the first
time in their history that Estudiantes have scored five goals in the Copa Libertadores. Mauro
Boselli hit a hat trick with Germán [.
Banfield claimed a 2-2 draw in the Estadio Centenario on Wednesday night against Uruguay's Nacional
to edge ever so slightly closer to the Copa Libertadores knockout stages. With the halfway point in
their group now reached they top the Group 6 table on 7 points, with Nacional on 5 and Ecuador's
Deportivo Cuenca on 3.
Weeks after becoming the first Argentine club in four decades to take a Copa Libertadores point
from a high-altitude match in Bolivia, Estudiantes were at 'home' in Quilmes to Bolívar on Tuesday
night. After a first half in which the Bolivian visitors proved a very tough nut to crack, things
finally came good for El [.
The Estudiantes victory referred to in the title actually took place on Tuesday night, but was too
late for me to have stayed up for it. The Copa Libertadores holders beat Juan Aurich of Peru for
the second time in the group stage, this time away by a score of 2-0, with a spectacular second

Estudiantes de La Plata secured their place in the second round of the 2010 Copa Libertadores de
América on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Peru's Alianza Lima. The defending champions huffed
and puffed in Quilmes, without quite managing to blow Alianza's house down, until they were awarded
a penalty in stoppage time.
The knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores are upon us. I know I said last week the first legs
wouldn't be until next week, but that serves me right for trusting Globo (no other site I could
find had the list fixtures up at the time), doesn't it? Both Estudiantes de La Plata and Vélez

A bit of a paradox, this torneo corto (short championship), because in spite of it only lasting 19

That's how Juan Román Riquelme has described Boca Juniors' offer to him to give him a new three

It has today been confirmed that Diego Maradona will not be coaching Argentina any longer. While
his run as national team coach was neither horrible nor marvelous, it did seem that his charisma
and passion for the game would carry him through. However, his demands for his entire staff to be
renewed as well were simply too much for the Argentinean FA, who will now be looking for a new
coach.
It's finally here! At 9pm local time tonight, the 2010 Torneo Apertura de Primera División will

I'm a bit late with this, but here it is at last. Last weekend saw a lot of goals scored in the

clash ... Continue reading →
The fourth round of the Torneo Apertura 2010 finally came to an end four-and-a-half weeks after it

Since we're now halfway (and a bit) through the 2010 Torneo Apertura, I thought I'd compile a very
brief 'report' on each team so far, and how they're doing in relation to what they'd have
hoped/expected at the start of ... Continue reading →
