Saturday saw Argentina take on Ecuador in the Estadio Monumental in a World Cup qualifier, and in
spite of a midfield supposedly lacking in creativity (yes, some people had that complaint), they
won 4-0 with goals from Sergio Agüero, Gonzalo ... Continue reading →

With the season coming to an end, it will soon be time for another double-header of World Cup
qualifiers in South America. With hosts Brazil not playing qualifiers, each South American nation
has one of these double rounds in which ... Continue reading →
In an international friendly on Wednesday afternoon (or evening, depending which continent you were
watching from), Alejandro Sabella's Argentina took on Switzerland in Berne and after a performance
that was neither stunning nor poor from the team as a whole, ... Continue reading →
Argentina's qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup hit another bump in the road on Friday
afternoon where, in the glorious Monumental sunshine, Bolivia took the lead and eventually held the
hosts to a 1-1 draw in the third round ... Continue reading →
In under two hours, Argentina and Bolivia will be contesting their third 2014 World Cup qualifying
match in the Estadio Monumental, and these are the teams that will be doing it. A late injury in

I have no doubt that if Venezuela had played the same 11 against Ecuador as they did against
Argentina, they would have maximum points in the South American World Cup qualification. Now,
instead, they have lost 3 points...Argentina started well, patiently in what in the first half
seemed a more tactical game, where the Venezuelans were figuring out how to play the Argentinean
side.
Tuesday night saw Argentina's second qualifier for the 2014 World Cup, and an historic result in
Puerto La Cruz. In eighteen previous matches between Argentina and Venezuela, Argentina had won
every single one, but tonight Venezuela played better and got ... Continue reading →
For the Euro 2012 qualifiers Denmark had to defeat Cyprus, and the match was virtually over after
25 minutes, with Denmark winning 4-0. It ended 4-1, but Denmark did what they had to do, and will
now be looking towards a group final against Portugal in Copenhagen next Tuesday. Denmark needs to
win to win the group though, after Portugal managed a too difficult 5-3 win over Iceland in Lisbon.
Alejandro Sabella, after playing four friendlies of dubious importance, finally had his competitive
debut as Argentina manager on Friday evening, and it could hardly have gone better. Chile provided
tricky opposition and deserved more for their own efforts, but Sabella's ... Continue reading →
In the Superclásico de las Américas, Argentina's domestic national team lost 2-0 to their
Brazilian counterparts on Wednesday night in Belém, going down to a 2-0 aggregate loss. Lucas

In the thirty-fifth episode of Hand Of Pod Sam, Dan, Dan and Seba begin with a discussion of just
how much of a massive idiot Carlos Tevez is, and conclude with a reflection on Cristian Fabbiani's

27.09.2011 - Luego de la

visita a Brasil (Belem), para cerrar el Superclásico de las Américas (miércoles 29.

A little earlier today, Argentina took on Nigeria in the second match of their South Asian 'tour',
in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They won 3-1, with two goals from Gonzalo Higuaín and one from Ángel Di
María. You can watch those goals ... Continue reading →
Alejandro Sabella's first match in charge of the Argentine national team wasn't a walk in the park,
but brought a victory and a performance no-one had any particular complaints about. Against
Venezuela, one of the (many) shock teams of the ... Continue reading →
In the latest episode of Hand Of Pod, Sam and the Dans discuss Denis Stracqualursi, and what
Everton fans can expect from him in the Premier League, and an interesting weekend of Torneo
Apertura matches which saw the championship finally ... Continue reading →
The twenty-ninth episode of Hand Of Pod is, as the milkmaid said to the parson, quite a whopper.
That's largely because Sam, Australian Dan and Seba have not one but two rounds of Torneo Apertura
matches to look back on, ... Continue reading →

Ezeiza.
Hasta El Gol Siempre is back, ladies and gents. I apologise for the long absence of any posts on

Argentina has one of the most talented group of players in the world, and yet they have done
nothing on the national team, and the recent debacle now had its consequences by Sergio Batista
being fired as national coach. This is about time; he has been a lousy coach, and Argentina has
slid down the world ranking while him coaching them.
Alejandro Sabella has resigned as manager of Argentine champions Estudiantes de La Plata after
almost two years of incredible success with the club. Conflicting opinions are currently
circulating on whether this is rumour or fact, and it would help if ... Continue reading →
