A bullying, selfish FIFA Confederation President pursuing his own agenda to the detriment of the
development of the beautiful game? No, not Jack Warner, but AFC boss Mohamed Bin Hammam.
That, at least, is the perspective of much of New Zealand's soccer media this week, following
the AFC's ultimatum to New Zealand's Wellington Phoenix, who play in Australia's A-League: become a
lot more Australian, or else.
Perth Glory Football Club is an football (soccer) club from Perth, Western Australia, playing in
the Hyndai A-League. The Glory was one of only three clubs to survive from the now defunct National
Soccer League. They finished in 7th place in the 2008-09 A-League. Earlier today, Perth Glory Owner
Mr Tony Sage unveiled the club's new [.

What young Canberran wouldn't want to swap places with Canberra's Andrew Baresic and Lustica as
they start their first A-League contracts onlongside Jason Culina and the richest team in the
league..supposedly.
And Central Coast Mariners are increasingly likely to bring an A-League game to Canberra.
Next season EPL sides Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers will travel to Australia to face the
Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory in preseason action this July.
Australia's A-League, along with the EPL, both begin league competition in August.
"This is an historic and momentous occasion for Perth Glory and football in Western Australia,"
said Perth Glory Owner & Chairman Tony Sage to local media present at the announcement.
Wellington Phoenix FC is an Australian soccer team based in Wellington, New Zealand, competing in
the Australian A-League. The club replaced the now-defunct New Zealand Knights in the 2007/08
season. The Phoenix finished the 2008/09 A-League season in a respectable 6th position. Earlier
today, the Wellington Phoenix officially launched their Reebok home and away kits for [.
With Melbourne's Kevin Muscat on his last legs, should they have kept Milicevic.
What a player? He's played a couple of A-League games, a couple of Asian Champions League games but
I'm desperate to see him sign for the full A-League season
Seeing him controlling the Newcastle back four in recent weeks, playing the ball from the back,
surging forward is joyous to watch.
DESPITE securing a number of big-name signings and an encouraging off-season for Perth Glory - less
than half the tickets for the English Premier League friendlies have been sold.
Glory owner Tony Sage told local radio show Let's Talk Football that only around 9,000 tickets had
been sold for the two nights of football in Perth which will involve Wolverhampton Wolves, Fulham
and North Queensland Fury.
Everyone's favourite time of the A-League season is here!
It's a time when grown men are likely to become morons, when heroes car quickly turn to villains
(and vice-versa), and when Prime Ministers heads are kissed and the nation laughs!
Yeah you know it, I'm talking bout the A-League finals series.

CHRIS COYNE. In the past few weeks, Perth Glory fans have been salivating over his name - a
Socceroo still in good form.
If you believe what you read in the press, then Coyne will decided soon whether he wants to play in
the A-League, in Asia or stay in Europe.
PERTH Glory owner Tony Sage had admitted that it was "risky" spending the huge amounts of money on
the club this season, the West Australian has reported.
Sage has reportedly spent over $1 million underwriting the trips of two English Premier League club
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham, and he will spend around $1.

FOOTBALL PERTH takes a look back at some of the memorable and no-sot-memorable points of the Perth
Glory versus Wolverhampton Wanderers friendly on Friday.
Promising result from both teams
Perth Glory and Wolves can take plenty of positives from the game.
Before our first home game a couple of weeks ago a 60 minutes crew joined our Supporters Club at
the Dog and Parrot. They were there as part of a story on Clive Palmer, our club owner. We were
filmed singing our chants and then a few of us were interviewed by Charles Wooley. It was a fun
afternoon.
The displays in this week's AFC Champions League openers have prompted much speculation about
whether Australian clubs can reproduce Adelaide United's 2008 form and progress all the way to the
'09 final.
In fairness neither the Central Coast nor Newcastle convinced in their maiden continental outings.
Meanwhile, Central Coast Mariners are investigating taking two home games away from
Gosford, with Canberra Stadium likely to be one of the venues.
SMH journalist Mike Cockerill thought Wollongong were a cashed up shoe-in back in October..well now
he thinks the Mariners may play an A-League game in Canberra.
Diving is the scourge of soccer. The ugly pimple on the otherwise beautiful face of football.
Mostly because it's cheap. In a game that offer so much in terms of honour and sportsmanship, too
many players too often look to fool the ref and gain an advantage. Just as bad, it's also the stick
that the soccer [.

Sugar coat it any way you like, it's still not going to make Adelaide United play any better or
bring a trophy to South Australia... 5 games this season alone have proven that! Unfortunately I
won't be watching this match (I know, tell me about it!)... instead, I've got a dirty weekend*
planned in a remote corner of some dessert.

LAST week Football Perth had a hypothetical question he would ask Perth Glory owner Tony Sage.
Thanks to Tom from GloryBoys, FP was able to ask his question and, surprisingly, received a
response almost immediately.
Here was the question and the answer (Sage's response has been edited for grammatical reasons):
FP: Hi Tony, like everyone else I appreciate you answering the fans questions in this forum.
A NUMBER of positive on and off-field developments have changed the atmosphere within the Glory
have says promising defender Scott Neville.
Perth has suffered in past four years in the A-League but, with a number of new signings and two
highly-anticipated friendlies against English Premier League opponents, Neville felt there was
change in the air.
PERTH Glory will officially confirmed the signing of Socceroos defender Chris Coyne later this
week, one website has claimed.
According to Perth Glory Myspace, Coyne will put pen to paper on a three-year deal and has rejected
offers from Europe, Australia and the Middle East.
"Perth Glory Myspace can exclusively confirm that Colchester United defender Chris Coyne is on his
way to Perth Glory after putting pen to paper on a 3 year deal," it said in a bulletin.
COLCHESTER UNITED have announced that they have terminated Chris Coyne contract and is expected to
be join Perth Glory later today.
Colchester revealed last night that his contract was terminated by mutual consent and is expected
to join Perth as soon as he agrees personal terms.
"Unfortunately, after eighteen months here, it's time to move on," Coyne told the Colchester United
website.
NEW A-League franchise Gold Coast United expect to field a near full-strength team in their final
pre-season friendly against Perth Glory in Bunbury on Saturday.
The United squad, thanks to the private jet of owner Clive Palmer, arrived in Bunbury yesterday to
prepare for the match against Perth.
GOLD Coast United manager Miron Bleiberg has cast doubt upon Perth Glory's chances in the A-League
claiming the club lacks depth, The West Australian has reported.
Speaking after his side's 1-0 victory over the Glory in Bunbury, Bleiberg felt the Glory's lack of
dept could cost them this season.

Is there any other show about male sports where there are more women than men on tv or the

This is un-Australian and should be stopped immediately.

RIGHTO - just a little note to let you know about the progress of the Australian Football
Fanzine.
It's been dubbed Half-Time Heroes and the first edition is planned to come out next Wednesday just
in time for the start of the new season.
According to the organiser Eamonn Flanagan from the Nearpost Blog, there's 18 writers from all
across Australia (including yours truly) who have agreed to contribute to the fanzine for the first
editon.
We're only an hour or so away from the first match of A-League ver. 5 and already it's promising to
be a cracker of a year!
Two new teams in Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury, new and "unique" kit designs, a host
of new faces from local and abroad, ex-socceroos and marquee talent the likes of Robbie Fowler,

SO it's Tuesday and we are fast approaching Perth Glory's next match against Melbourne Victory on
Friday night.
There's been a tinsy-whinsy bit of confusion on the times for the clash and FP may have found out
why.
In the original fixture list released by the FFA, the game was going to be played on Saturday
instead of Friday.
by Usman Azad, Football Perth Editor
WELL, all in all, it was mixed weekend for FP. Arsenal self-destructed against Man United, but
Miron's mob Gold Coast United were finally brought back to earth with a 1-0 defeat to
Newcastle.
And due to a couple more results in the A-League, the Glory climb to fourth position on the ladder
after their win over Melbourne - though Perth fans shouldn't be breaking out the bubbly just yet -
there's still 23 rounds to go, plenty of time before the ladder really matter.
by Usman Azad, Football Perth Editor
WELL, FP is back for another day - after spending a few hours yesterday with his cousin trawling
through Perth like a couple of wizened tourists.
Though FP was playing the role of the embarrassed tour guide, his cousin was genuinely fascinated
by the city.
They Think It's All Over... is well and truly pissed that the referee denied Wellington Phoenix a
win against Adelaide, but can draw some consolation from the performance of the Kiwi side.

A HARROWING mistake from young goalkeeper Tando Velaphi has resulted in another loss away from home
for Perth Glory in the A-League this season.
Both teams were level on the scoreboard late in the game, when Velaphi misjudged the bounce of a
long ball into the penalty box, slipped over and watched helplessly as Central Coast Mariners
striker Dylan Macallister squared the ball for an easy tap-in for Matt Simon.
