The New York Red Bulls will look to move a step closer to the Eastern Conference final tonight
with a win or tie against the San Jose Earthquakes in the second leg of their MLS playoff series at
Red Bull Arena (8pm, ESPN2).
The Earthquakes need a win tonight after dropping the first leg, 1-0, at Buck Shaw Stadium.
Our great coach Mr. Backe said it a few months back, this team isn't good enough to win it all. He
was right! I just thought that we would, at the very least, get to the Eastern Conference Final. It
was not to be, however, as San Jose, a team the Red Bulls dominated @Buck Shaw Stadium this past
Saturday, handed the Eastern Conference regular season champs an embarrassing 3-1 defeat @The
Cathedral of Football.
Bobby Convey picked a good day to break out and score some goals. Convey's two goals and assist
helped the Quakes to reach the Eastern Conference Finals. I wanted to wait until the
Colorado/Columbus game was over before posting reporting in.
Game Summary:
6′ Bobby Convey Goal
32′ Ramiro Corrales Yellow Card
76′ Bobby Convey Goal
78′ Juan Pablo Angel Goal
81′ Chris Wondolowski Goal
81′ John Busch Yellow Card
Bobby Convey is without a doubt the San Jose Man of the Match.
That's right folks, Colorado and San Jose, both teams from the Western Conference are playing
for the Eastern Conference's highest accolade. What the hell does this mean? It means conferences
are ridiculous. Wait, this isn't a post about the conferences though so let's get to the nitty
gritty of Saturday's Match.
