In our final View from the Enemy preview, David Johnston from the Wolves Offside blog has talked

Scott the Red: Were you happy with your team's performance last season?
David Johnston: I think in the first two seasons in the top flight the target has to be
survival.

Our next 2 games are both at Queensgate so we have a good chance of picking up some much needed
points. On Tuesday we entertain 4th placed Tadcaster Albion, they have an excellent away record so
far having lost only once on their travels and scoring 19 goals in their 9 games, so this will not
be an easy game by any means but with home advantage and a near full squad to choose from I expect
us to win the game.

alongside the three MLS squads and their NASL brethren FC Edmonton.
A Swash Buckley Homecoming Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Doncaster Rovers (06:08:11) 14 years ago
Brighton & Hove Albion played Doncaster Rovers in the last ever game at the Goldstone Ground. Fast
forward to the present day, and they were at it again - for the first ever league game at The
American Express Community Stadium.
The real party, of course, was on Saturday. Brighton & Hove Albion marked their arrival at The
Amex Community Stadium with a late, late win against Doncaster Rovers, but the celebrations
continued this evening with a narrow win against Gillingham of League Two. After fourteen years
waiting, though, could the new stadium possibly live up to expectations?
The competitive home debut of Andre Villas-Boas' Chelsea is here.
I stole this from somewhere. Thanks.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Crystal Palace - The thoughts of Kevin Day.... Brighton entertain their
fiercest rivals Crystal Palace tomorrow for the first time in six years. European Football Weekends

WEST BROMWICH, England — Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could be out of action for two
weeks after injuring his left ankle in Saturday's 2-1 Premier League win at West Bromwich Albion.
Rooney scored in the third minute for his first goal from open play since March but hobbled off
late in the match after [.
Tomorrow will hopefully see Scarborough Athletic back in league action when we are due to play
at Tadcaster Albion, but we have had another layer of snow fall this evening and it is snowing now
at 9.30 pm on the eve of the game so I am guessing there will be a late pitch inspection sometime
tomorrow.
As we approach the halfway point in the League One season, more or less nothing has yet been
decided and with each passing week more questions are being asked of which more or less none are
being definitively answered. No matter which we way we choose to interpret this league table, it
makes for extraordinary reading.
After a couple of weeks off, we're bringing back our weekly round-up of non-league videos.
Yesterday saw the Third Round of the FA Trophy, and our first two matches come from that
competition, kicking off with AFC Wimbledon's match against Woking. Wimbledon dropped two points
against Luton Town during the week and were looking to regain a little momentum.
Scarborough Athletic were beaten 2-0 at Selby Town on Tuesday night,
one goal in each half was enough for Town to take all 3 points following a lack lustre display by
the Seadogs, First half Boro played reasonably and had their chances but failed to take them,
something that is becoming all too common in games, but the 2nd half saw a different performance, we
played badly and could have no complaints about the final outcome.
Scarborough Athletic beat Tadcaster Albion 1-0 in their local derby at Queensgate last night, I had
to be content with listening to the game on Seadogs live along with around 80 other liseners. It
was Ryan Blott who grabbed the all important goal for Boro and it was a special goal for Ryan as it
was his 100th from his 123 appearances for the club.
Sam Allardyce has said thanks but thanks to West Brom as he is not interested in replacing
Roberto Di Matteo as Baggies manager.
Allardyce, who is a former West Brom player, coach and assistant manager was reported to top of
the wanted list at the Hawthorns.
Albion operate with a system in which the head coach works under a sporting and technical
director, Dan Ashworth, a hierachy that Allardyce does not like as be the manager should have the
final say on all footballing matters.
By Chris Wright
Word reaching Pies this morning is that West Brom are all but set to swear in Chris Hughton as
Roberto Di Matteo's replacement later today, after the former Newcastle boss held talks with the
Baggies' board last night.
The Birmingham Mail are also reporting that an unidentified 'hitch' brought a premature halt to
the negotiations, but that all parties are hopeful of ironing out any kinks by this evening.
Manchester United made the small jaunt south to the Hawthornes to k ick off the new year in the
English top flight. The undefeated visitors topped the league table. West Brom were near its
bottom.
Having not scored from open play since March, Rooney's first touch today brought the opening goal.
Seagulls are the Bee's Knees Brentford 0-1 Brighton (08:03:11) We sent roving reporter Nick Goodwin
to Brentford to watch the mighty Albion.... Since EFW's last League 1 outing in February, Brighton
and Hove Tika Taka FC have notched up five league wins, scoring four goals in four of those games
to boot.
At the Withdean Stadium this afternoon, all the fun of the fair was on display, with two goals
in the last few minutes and a win that keep Brighton & Hove Albion at the top of League One. This
success is well deserved, but there is a knock-on effect of sorts going on just up the road at
Whitehawk.
At some imperceptible point, somewhere between January and March, the football season switches
its rhythm. No longer can one look at the league table, work out the gap between your team and the
automatic promotion places, and blithely say, "We can make that gap up". Every match matters, even
though three points won in April are, in the overall scheme of things, worth no more than those won
in August.
So near, yet so far. Brighton & Hove Albion travel to North-East London to play Dagenham &
Redbridge in a league match for the first time this evening with the scent of promotion heavy in
the air. That Gus Poyet's team has been the stand-out team in League One this season is inarguable,
but in recent weeks they have started to give the impression of being a team that is starting, just
starting, to run on empty.
Tadcaster Albion beat Pickering Town with two goals in the dying minutes. Pickering were 2-1 up
when in the 88th minute Albion's Marc Thompson equalised for his team and then in the final minute
Albion were awarded a penalty and Carl Stewart stepped up and hit the winning goal for
Albion.
At Queensgate Bridlington Town kept up the pressure on Farsley and Parkgate at the top of the
table as they defeated Maltby Main 4-2, Town took the lead in the 2nd minute and never looked in
danger of losing the match, ex Scarborough Athletic players were on target for Town, Craig Hogg
scored from the penalty spot on 21 minutes and late in the game Scott Phillips scored the 4th goal
for Town.

League 1 side Brighton & Hove Albion secured promotion to the second tier of English football
with a thrilling win against Dagenham & Redbridge last night. The side, currently managed by former
Spurs midfielder Gus Poyet, have not lost at home all season and twice came from behind for the 4-3
win.
As they have done on so many occasions already this season, they cut it fine. At home against a
Dagenham & Redbridge team that is fighting tooth and nail against relegation, Brighton & Hove
Albion still managed to fall a goal behind before winning a thrilling match by four goals to three.
It has been that sort of season for the club.
For men of a certain age, the name of Leatherhead FC makes the eyes mist over and the memories
come flooding back. The Tanners were in Division One of the Isthmian League (which was renamed the
Premier Division in 1977, following reorganisation) when they beat Colchester United and Brighton &
Hove Albion on the way to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup in 1975, where the BBC's Match Of The Day
cameras saw them steal a two goal lead against First Division Leicester City before losing by three
goals to two.
First of all, why are they called "under-21 teams" when they are really "21-and-under teams" or
"under-22 teams"? I know I'm not the first to ask, but still, I'm asking. And Andy Carroll isn't
even under 22: he is 22. This highly official page lists forty players, of which only
thirteen are actually, you know, under 21.
In League One, the sense that this was to be the year of the south coast started to grow as
winter turn to spring. Brighton & Hove Albion soared away at the top of the table, and as the home
straight of the season came into view, the pre-season favourites Southampton also began to pull
away into the distance, themselves securing an automatic promotion place with a couple of games of
the season still to spare.
The good people at STV Sport are in the process of unveiling the runners and riders in the STV
Online Writers' Player of the Year poll.
Predictably enough online writers made up the electorate. Our instructions were to name our top
five Scottish players of the year.
That could be Scottish players playing anywhere but they had to be Scottish.
Today's entry in this on-running series comes from Mark Chalcraft, who can otherwise be
found at the very splendid 2nd Yellow football site. His subject is one that is
rather close to one or two of us that already write for Twohundredpercent Brighton & Hove Albion's
Goldstone Ground.
This social media culture is wonderful. Twitter, for instance, brings friends closer, it's
immediate, settles differences and it throws new people together. It can, writes Chris Lepkowski,
be amazingly funny when people start to filter home from nights out. Yet, as the disgruntled
football journalist from the Birmingham Mail points out, as far as the transfer circus and the
media is concerned, they're not always the easiest of bedfellows.
