If you follow me on Twitter (I'm sorry, I don't mean to plug it at every opportunity, it's just a
medium I've increasingly used), you know I'm prone to infrequently reference indie rock music. Even
if it seems to alienate people. Well, I've had The Hold Steady's song "Constructive Summer" in my
head for some time now.
Christian Poulsen today claimed a hectic September schedule is exactly what the new-look Liverpool
need to show their best form.
The Reds midfielder is currently with compatriot Daniel Agger in Copenhagen preparing for next
Tuesday European Championship qualifier against Iceland.
However, he already has one eye on what lies in store for Liverpool during the course of the next
four weeks and cannot wait to get started.
Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz believes new Liverpool signing Raul Meireles will prove a success in
the Premier League.
Liverpool moved to sign Meireles, 27, from Porto after Alberto Aquilani joined Juventus on loan and
Javier Mascherano made his long-awaited switch to Barcelona, and Queiroz feels he could be the
ideal replacement for the duo in central midfield.

Just keeping you abreast of some post- (or possibly 'pre-', depending on how forward-thinking
you are) transfer deadline gossip.
According to serial rumour-mongers Tuttosport as well as a few other outlets in Italy
Juventus are drawing up plans to launch an audacious €16 million (£13 million) January move for
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe;
"The new board at La Vecchia Signora [Juventus] want to make a big name signing in
winter, after being stung by criticism of their summer market campaign.

Former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has admitted that he would have
been perfectly happy to remain at Anfield this season, but was instead allowed to join Juventus on
a season-long loan after manager Roy Hodgson sanctioned his release just three
days prior.
Roy Hodgson today declared himself satisfied with Liverpool's summer transfer dealings - and
insisted new boys Raul Meireles and Paul Konchesky will prove to be quality additions to his
squad.
With the transfer window now closed until January and Liverpool having submitted their Barclays
Premier League squad, Hodgson insists he is happy with the players at his disposal and is pleased
the Reds were able to act quickly to fill the midfield gap left by Javier Mascherano.
According to The Independent, Liverpool midfielder Alberto
Aquilani, who is on loan at Juventus, claimed that he would like to stay
with the club but it all depends on how his loan deal goes. Aquilani said,
"Liverpool were relying on me and deep down I would have stayed because I overcame my physical
problems and the fans were very affectionate towards me .
The transfer window may now well be firmly slammed shut until the New Year but while all matters
RBS go back to dominating the headlines, it seems that squad changes at Anfield are still on the
mind of Roy Hodgson, just as much as the media continue to work on possible new arrivals.
Liverpool's squad to start the 2010 campaign may well be lacking the fire power in atacking
areas that many a fan craved but Roy Hodgson has been happy to throw some more optimism out there
to be digested, as he declared himself satisified with the clubs summer dealings.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has warned more fringe players could leave the club as he streamlines
his squad.
Since taking over from Rafael Benitez, Hodgson has seen Albert Riera, Alberto Aquilani, Emiliano
Insua and Diego Cavalieri among others leave the club.
And the 62-year-old said players who do not feature in the first team nor offer future promise
could exit Anfield.
Did Benitez fail as much in his transfers as he did trying to kick this
ball?
When Liverpool and Manchester United face-off for the first time this season, it will also mark
the first time that Rafael Benitez will not be involved in the fixture since 2004. Since leaving
Liverpool for Inter this summer, many have debated the cause of Liverpool's poor state of
(financial) affairs.
Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan has called on supporters to be "sensible" with their expectations of
new manager Roy Hodgson due to the takeover crisis.
Hodgson, 63, arrived from Fulham just after owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks put the club up for
sale in April due to their mounting debts.
With the prospect of falling into the Royal Bank of Scotland's hands in mid-October if a loan isn't
repaid, the Anfield outfit was restrained in the summer transfer market despite the losses of
Alberto Aquilani and Javier Mascherano.
Dutch international Dirk Kuyt says Fernando Torres is committed to the club and not going to
leave any time soon. The Spanish World Cup winner has consistently been linked with a move away
from Liverpool for a long period of time but proposed moves to Chelsea and Internazionale Milan
have not materialised.
