Back in the summer window of 2012, Spurs were being heavily linked with a move for CSKA Moscow's international midfielder Alan Dzagoev. The 22 year old had just turned in some positive performances at Euro 2012 in a side that ultimately disappointed with an early elimination.
Speculation was subsequently fuelled when his father and agent claimed that Spurs were interested in signing his son.
The newspapers are full of reports claiming that Daniel Levy is set to back the ‘under fire' Andre Villas-Boas by providing a £20m transfer fund ahead of the January transfer window. In turn, that has sparked a host of new rumours, linking players with a move to White Hart Lane.
Some of them are old, familiar faces like Porto's Joao Moutinho, who reportedly came agonisingly close to putting pen to Tottenham headed notepaper at the end of August.
A few weeks ago, Spurs were linked with a £16m move for highly rated Russian international Alan
Dzagoev amidst claims by his agent and father than contact had been made.
"I don't know if he will stay at CSKA. There are offers — from Spurs and other foreign clubs,"
Dzagoev senior said at the time.
Depending on which source you read, Tottenham's new head coach Andre Villas-Boas will be given
between £50m and £70m to spend on new names at the Lane for 2012-13. The stories suggest that the
figure will be funded in part by the sale of Luka Modric although it's claimed elsewhere that
interest in the Croatian midfielder is fading.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly inquired about the availability of Russian play-maker Alan
Dzagoev, who is also believed to be a target of German champions Borussia Dortmund.
Dzagoev scored three goals over the course of Russia's somewhat surprising Euro 2012 group stage
elimination and it has since been believed that potential suitors must be prepared to bid at leastÂ
£15 million for the 22-year old's services.
Russian international Alan Dzagoev is the latest player to be linked with a move to Spurs in
this transfer window but unlike many of the current rumours, there appears to be some substance to
this, with claims that an offer has been made. Dzagoev's father and agent states that bids have
been received for his son in recent days.

Wenger Keen to Recruit Dzagoev
Coach Arsene Wenger is keen to sign Russia's in-form attacking midfielder
Alan Dzagoev, who is lightening up the European Championship these days with his
goal scoring exploits.
Andrei Arshavin is a very talented footballer. There's no question about that. Even his critics
would have to admit the Russian captain has the skills needed to succeed at the top level of the
sport. However, as often happens in the world of sports, he may need a change of scenery, since he
doesn't seem to be able to put it all together when playing for Arsenal.
Andrey Arshavin has not had a good time in the English Premier League in the season that just
ended. The Russian captain fell out of love with the Arsenal faithful and more crucially, with
Arsene Wenger. In a bid to ensure top condition for Euro 2012, Arshavin returned to Zenit St.
Petersburg for regular football.
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny had a nightmare start for Poland at Euro 2012 after being
sent off with a straight red card in the 68th minute of a 1-1 game. The co-host nation had gotten
off to a fine start with striker Robert Lewandowski of German champion Borussia Dortmund giving
them the lead in the 17th minute.
Last of the look at the teams in Euro 2012 that will and could have an impact on the tournament.
Yesterday I discussed the teams that are not favoured but could potentially have a big say in the
tournament and we continue with the last 2 today. Italy and Russia are the two dark horses
left.
So after covering prospects from Greece, France, Germany, Croatia and Poland yesterday, today OTP

Reported Arsenal target Alan Dzagoev has alerted his potential
suitors by confessing that he might want to leave his current club CSKA Moscow
when his contract with them expires at the end of the year.
It was a sight to behold by any standards. With a dose of somewhat unexpected energy from Andrey Arshavin, the Russian national team gave us a first night to remember at the Euro 2012 championships in the second game of Group A last night. Arshavin, who captains the Russian team, is currently on loan from Arsenal to Zenit Saint Petersburg but may have raised a sufficient number of eyebrows to be recalled to Arsenal's first team after his crowd-thrilling performance.
Now that the dust has settled following the final round of Champions League group
matches, all eyes shift to next Friday's First round knockout stage draw in Nyon. But before we get
ahead of ourselves, let's take a moment to celebrate the breakout stars of the Champions
League thus far; players, young or old, who've used this season's Group matches to announce
their arrival on the European stage.
Manchester United booked its passage to the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League in
dramatic and somewhat embarrassing fashion. If a side like CSKA Moscow can come to Old Trafford and
score goals in the manner they did, I don't think the Special One at Inter Milan or Barcelona's Pep
Guardiola will be having sleepless nights worrying about United's threat to their title hopes.
"The players I have at the moment are good, but in the future I will look for more,"
Wise Scolari told Sky Sports. "I know the English players and I want more English players in
my team. I want to win in England."
So, Uncle Phil says he wants more English talent. And the papers, in turn, reveal Chelsea are
targeting Gareth Barry.
Andrei Arshavin's the now, but the future is fast approaching for the Russian National Team with 18
year old Alan Dzagoev on a meteoric rise. I'd bookmarked a video last week as a reminder to write
something up and, of course, I forgot. So Alan took it upon himself to remind me today by scoring

Jon Levy How quickly things can change in the world of international soccer, especially when you change the lens through which you perceive success. FIFA put out a call on their website this week, asking fans to name their top teenage footballing
prospect. To get things started FIFA listed 38 suggestions, presumably the 38 best teenage soccer
players in the world right now, in the opinion of either FIFA or whoever wrote the article. Makes
