Nolberto Solano is on the verge of completing a move to join David Beckham at LA Galaxy, according
to the player's agent. The 33-year-old, who was released by West Ham boss Alan Curbishley at the
end of last season, has already held talks with Galaxy club boss Ruud Gullit. And his agent, Phil
Smith, admits a deal [.
Tonight West Ham United plays the Major League Soccer All-Star Team in Toronto, Canada. The match
will be shown live on ESPN and ESPN360.com beginning at 7pm ET. I'm intrigued by this match but
it's hard to get excited. West Ham is one of the most vanilla football clubs in the Premier League.
The club has [.
Following Alan Curbishley's departure from West Ham yesterday, his transfer policy at the club has
come under increased scrutiny. Soccerlens has rounded up Curbishley's worst forays into the
transfer market. 1. Freddie Ljungberg from Arsenal Curbishley should have known that sneaky Arsene
Wenger only sells his stars when they are past it.
West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley has today resigned. The former Charlton boss has been at
Upton Park for just under two years now since taking over at the club back in January 2007.
Curbishley is supposedly unhappy at the way the club handled transfer deadlings behind his back and
has decided enough is enough and he has now gone.
If you believe this article in The Sun, West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is ticked off over his squad
being made to fly economy class like the rest of us and forced to change planes rather than have a
non stop flight.
What do you think? Would MLS treat Chelsea or Real Madrid like this?

One team is in desperate need of some offensive help while the other team might just be raising
the white flag.
That's one way to look at the Colorado Rapids trading of forward Herculez Gomez to Kansas City
for allocation money and draft picks (4th rounder and 1st round supplemental in '09).
The events of the last few days point pretty clearly to one thing: the end of the football manager.
Alan Curbishley quit because West Ham sold players without his consent, Kevin Keegan may or may not
be about to do the same thing. In the age of billionaire businessman owners and/or sporting
directors, managers just don't [.
Football has gone crazy this week. Manchester City got rich and Robinho got signed, there was Alan
Curbishley and Kevin Keegan's decision to leave their posts, and the whole Dimitar Berbatov saga.
What we need to settle things down is a return to normality. And what could be more routine than
England struggling to beat a [.
Deloitte has just published its 2007 football finance review. One area of focus in this study was
premier league wages and the correlation between wages and on-pitch performance. A conclusion many
are drawing from this report: the correlation between wages and on-pitch performance is weaker
outside those clubs in the top four, and the relegation zone (see the Daily Telegraph for
elaboration).
By JAMES CLARKAn occasional Pardew's Guardian feature leading up to the August kickoff:1) Is George
McCartney's position as West Ham's left back secure? The Northern Irishman (pictured above, top)
has been an ever-present name in the starting 11 over the last couple of seasons, and deservedly
so.
While Slaven Bilic may not be returning to Upton Park as manager, there are plenty of other
candidates in the frame to be Alan Curbishley's successor. The former Charlton boss walked away
earlier this week, claiming there had been a breach of trust between himself and the board. The
latter ...
Media reports suggest that Arsenal having missed out on several targets during the transfer window
could make a move for long-term West Hammers target Stephen Appiah. The midfielder, who is a free
agent after agreeing his release from Fenerbahce has been heavily linked with a move to Upton Park,
although following Alan Curbishley's departure the Irons [.

Or maybe this is old news and the deal is hopefully done.
This is Local London - Fulham enter the race for Hammers striker
FULHAM have entered the race to sign West Ham's want-away striker Bobby Zamora, writes Sam
Lom-Bor.
The ex-England Under-21 player made only 14 appearances for the Hammers last season after missing
five months of the campaign through injury.
After looking like a promising prospect to make the starting XI last season, it appears that West
Ham boss, Alan Curbishley, has had enough of striker Bobby Zamora and his lack of a killer
instinct. The wantaway striker looks like he will be getting his wish to play some first-team ...
West ham boss Alan Curbishley can rest easy. After listening to the rumours about his current
skipper moving abroad this summer, the man that wears the band at Upton Park has made it clear that
he has no intentions of moving abroad. He's has no interest in köfte, döner or ...
It really is a joke that the best that MLS could come up with in terms of opposition for their
All-Stars is West Ham United, a mid-table team from the English Premier League. West Ham have some
very good players and probably will have a good year in the Premier League, especially as Alan
Curbishley is a very good manager.
America's Major League Soccer All Star XI defeated West Ham United 3-2 in a preseason friendly.
Dean Ashton was the standout performer of the match as he notched both of West Ham's goals. Carlton
Cole partnered Ashton up top and was largely ineffective throughout the match, stressing the need
for a healthy Craig Bellamy.
1. They're Under Starters Orders...
Here we go again!
Firstly, allow me to publicly register my outrage at the sale of King John Pantsil to Fulham
– a decision so bereft of imagination and foresight that it could only have come from Alan
Curbishley.
The loss of image rights alone has deprived us all of the proposed line of official Pantsil silken
smoking jackets with complimentary snuff box.
The beginning of the Premiership season is upon us, and that means a few things: i. If you root for
someone outside the Big Four, start dreaming of the UEFA Cup. ii. Referees will be forced into
hiding again. iii. Get your hair gel now, ladies, because England is going to be depleted by
November. iv.
According to this source something amazing may be about to happen at Upton Park! Why not continue
this discussion at the COS forum? Harry Redknapp will be given the chance to head back to his
football home and succeed Alan Curbishley as West Ham manager. The pressure is mounting on the
current Hammers .
Here is a link to another really good article by Tony Cascarino, the former Republic of Ireland
forward from the London Times. Tony provides a good account of why Alan Curbishley had no chance of
success at West Ham United and how now was the best time for him to leave.
The London Times also provides a listing of the candidates that West Ham are looking at to replace
Curbishley.
Stephen Appiah played for Ghana last night and came-on after 22 minutes to replace Michael Essien
and make his return to fitness, in his nation's World Cup qualifier against Libya. The free agent,
following his release from Turkish club Fenerbache, had been considering terms to sign at Upton
Park.
Dean Ashton had a stunning season opener for West Ham against Wigan, scoring twice and racking up
10 points. And at £6.5 million, many people will be looking to transfer him into their squad
as a cheap but highly effective points scorer; a completely understandable reaction to his point
scoring heroics.
1. A Good Walk Spoiled
Not that I would ever consider golf to be a sport, but I quite enjoyed replacing
my weekly boo with Boo Weekley for a while this weekend.
That said, I'd like the chance to boo Boo Weekley weekly. What a tool.

Craig Bellamy has been restricted to just nine appearances for West Ham since his £7.5 million
move from Liverpool in the summer. The Guardian report that the striker won't get a chance to add
to this tally this season due to him requiring an operation on both knee and groin. The Welshman
has been injury [.
The month of March has been mean to West Ham fans so far. They've been on the receiving end of
three 4-0 drubbings, albeit against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, three of the best teams in
the league. The Independent report that Alan Curbishley is far from a happy bunny, although it's
just as much to [.
Alan Curbishley appears keen to beef up his goalscoring options for next season, which is
understandable when you consider that when you take Dean Ashton out of the equation, last season's
next top scorer only managed four league goals. And hence the latest rumour relating to possible
attacking targets.
I think it would come as a surprise to many to know that West Ham, not Middlesbrough, not Aston
Villa, not any of the promoted clubs, had the highest average of English players in their starting
lineups (6.61/11) in the 2007-2008 Premiership season. That surprise serves as of a commonly-held
feeling towards West Ham from outside those associated with the club in one form or another:
apathy.
West Ham boss Alan Curbishley insists he is not concerned about being named the bookies' favourite
for the first manager to be sacked this season. Speaking after Saturday's 1-1 draw against
Villarreal, his team's last real friendly before the start of the Premier League, Curbishley said
he is ignoring the pressure being heaped upon him.
Chelsea defender Paulo Ferreira is heading across London to West Ham United to complete the
formalities of a move to the Hammers. The Portuguese international has struggled to nail down a
first team place in the Chelsea first team since the arrival of fellow countryman Jose Bosingwa at
Stamford Bridge this summer.
A knee-jerk reaction to the Premierships 1st casualty. After their best start in 9 years, my
beloved West Ham have again made another balls-up by losing yet another manager. West Ham released
this Statement an hour a ago: "West Ham United can confirm that Alan Curbishley has tendered
his resignation as manager and that it has been accepted.
It looked as though Kevin Keegan was going to be the first Premier League manager out of job this
season, although Alan Curbishley has beaten him to it by a whisker. The now-former West Ham gaffer
has had his resignation accepted by the board, bringing a 17-month rollercoaster to an ...
Alan Curbishley has resigned as manager of Premier League club West Ham United. Hot on the heels of
yesterday's King Kev shenanigans at the Toon, Curbishley tendered his resignation on Wednesday and
it was accepted by West Ham owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson. The once-tipped England boss has
apparently grown disillusioned at the .
West Ham legend Paolo Di Canio could be set to make a sensational return to the club as manager
after being installed as one of the favourites to replace Alan Curbishley according to Datasport.
Former Charlton chief Curbishley quit his post at Upton Park today, and while the bookmakers have
installed Croatia national team boss Slaven [.
Slaven Bilic could be heading for the Premier League after West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley
resigned this afternoon. The Croatian manager is the bookies favourite to succeed Curbishley as the
Hammers boss and I, along with many others, would be delighted to see Bilic come to England.
Bilic spent a season at Upton Park where he made 48 appearances and is now likely to return to the
East London club but this time as manager.
This blog has in the past been critical of Curbishley's reign at Upton Park and it would be fair
for me to comment on the latest event in East London.
The reason for the firing appears to me to relate solely to the West Ham United transfer policy.
This summer, the club cut Freddie Ljubgberg and sold Anton Ferdinand, while nobody of significance
was brought into the club from outside.
You guide a team to their best start in the English Premiership for 9 years (granted it is early in
the season) and what do you do... well why not quit the club. When you examine the details though
as explained in this article by ESPN, you can understand why Alan Curbishley resigned from West Ham
United.
1. Finally...
A lot of us thought this day would never come. For months now we have all battled against lowered
expectations, increasing frustration and even a progressively diminished appetite for one of those
things we hold most dear.
But then came the news we've all been waiting for.
George McCartney has refuted claims that he handed in a transfer request before being allowed to
return to Sunderland on Monday. The Northern Ireland international insists that while he did want
to head back north for family reasons, he was happy to accept Alan Curbishley's stance that he
wasn't going to sell him.
