West Ham take on a bouyant Everton at Upton Park on Saturday in one of the ever decreasing number
of Premier League games to start at the traditional 3.00pm. This a mere three days after suffering
defeat at Everton's hands in the Carling Cup.
Everton are unbeaten in eleven, through to the next round of both Carling and Uefa cups and sitting
very nicely in seventh position of the Premier League, only three points off neighbours Liverpool
in fourth.
So Lucas Neill has finally completed his £1.5 million move to West Ham. Yes, that's right, West
Ham who currently sit second from bottom in the table. Of course, Neill claims, he made the move
for purely footballing reasons and a PR offensive to match that used in the defence of Jade Goody
has kicked in to put forward this slightly unbelievable standpoint.
By The Coach (who is really a crypto West Ham fan!) I have never been an admirer of Sven Ericsson.
But I have to admit he learned his lesson well after managing England for so many years. It is
almost impossible to make a winning team that is based primarily on home grown footballers. You
need to add the flair and skill that is very rare in England.
