MORELIA, MEXICO -- The Los Angeles Galaxy have arrived in Mexico with a target on their back.

The Galaxy sit on top of their CONCACAF Champions League Group with six points after a pair of wins against Alajuelense and Club Motagua at home.

The playoff race is heating up, and so too is the charge up the SBI MLS Power Rankings.

Philadelphia and Houston each came up with important victories to make up ground in the Eastern Conference and climb further into the top 10. Even late-charging teams Toronto and Chicago, for whom the postseason is a longshot, are getting their due, with each moving up as well.

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – David Beckham is expected to partake in the Los Angeles Galaxy's CONCACAF Champions League match against Alajuelense on Wednesday, and his attendance has already caused a stir in the local media.

The stakes are high when MLS teams take to the field in both league and CONCACAF Champions League play Wednesday night.

D.C. United, Chivas USA, the New York Red Bulls and Portland Timbers are all fighting for spots in the postseason and are all in need of results, while FC Dallas, the Los Angeles Galaxy and Colorado Rapids all search for crucial CCL points.

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica — The Los Angeles Galaxy were made painfully aware that earning road points in the CONCACAF Champions League is no easy task, falling 1-0 to Alajuelense at the Estadio Alejandra Morera Soto.

Pablo Gabas' free kick goal in the 28th minute of play handed the Galaxy their second straight defeat in group stage play.
