The Costa Rican national team called up Porfirio Lopez to participate in the country's friendly
against Jamaica tonight, possibly receiving his second ever international cap. The game is set to
be played at The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica at 8 P.M. (as of right now there is no
legal online feed, or television channel, that is broadcasting the game for American
viewers).
The Los Angeles Galaxy's search for Juninho's replacement has ended with Juninho himself.
The Sao Paulo central midfielder is on his way back to Los Angeles for another loan spell with
the Galaxy. Multiple reports out of Brazil say that Sao Paulo manager Emerson Leao had no plans to
use the 23-year-old Juninho, who signed a new three-year deal with Sao Paulo during the MLS
offseason.
The U-23 Men's National Team wrapped up their January training camp with a scrimmage today against
Alajuelense of Costa Rica.
Caleb Porter's squad has been in Central American since last week as they continue to prepare for
Olympic Qualifying in March. A big part of that preparation as been acclimating themselves to the
rhythm of a qualifying tournament and that's where this trip has come in: playing two games in four
days is just the type of schedule the team will face when they take the field in Nashville for the
group stage of the competition.
The United States Under-23 National Team is currently training in Costa Rica, with scrimmages
scheduled against Costa Rican clubs Saprissa and Alajuelense.
A healthy Josh Gatt and Mexican-American midfielder Isaac Acuña are among the 22 players called
in for the next U.S. Under-23 training camp by coach Caleb Porter.
The camp will take place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., before the group departs
for Costa Rica to play friendlies against Saprissa reserves on Jan.

January is a busy month for U.S. Soccer across almost all ages, and following Jurgen Klinsmann's
roster announcement for the senior camp that kicks off today in Phoenix and Tab Ramos' roster
announcement for this week's Under-20 camp in Florida, two more sets of U.
It's been a while since I've written on the Central American playoff scene, but all of the
champions have been decided with the exception of Belize. Below is a summary of who won what: Costa
Rica: Alajuelense won their third consecutive league title, and their 27th overall, by defeating
Herediano 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw in the final series.

BRADENTON, Fla. -- The U.S. Under-23 men's national team wrapped up its December camp with a
second intra-squad scrimmage on Thursday afternoon, and the competition for roster spots set the
tone for a physical and fiery match.
Split up into white and blue teams, the 29 players in camp (Bill Hamid left camp earlier in the
week due to family reasons) took part in a windy match at IMG Soccer Academy that saw its share of
physical play and rough challenges.

The Los Angeles Galaxy may have won MLS Cup, but there is no rest for the defending champions.
Not with David Beckham being heavily sought after by Qatari-owned Paris St. Germain and numerous
key players out of contract as yet another busy schedule looms in 2012.

Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was busy adding to the defending MLS Cup champions
Monday, making four picks in the MLS Re-Entry Draft and hitting the international market as well.
Following the Re-Entry Draft, Arena announced the signing of former Alajuelense midfielder Marcelo
Sarvas on a conference call with reporters.
Well into the playoff phase in Central America's domestic leagues, as two leagues approach the
finals and a new champion has been crowned in Panama. Here's a summary of what happened over the
past seven days: BELIZE ??? COSTA RICA Alajuelense and Herediano will meet in the final of the
Invierno tournament.
A roundup of action from around Central America, as all of the leagues are now in playoff stage.
BELIZE I have no idea what's happening in Belize. COSTA RICA Alajuelense scored an important
victory in the Invierno playoffs with a 1-0 first leg victory at Saprissa. The Purple Monsters has
to play almost 50 minutes with ten men after Jairo Arrieta was sent off in the 43rd minute.
Not much time for lots of prose, since I'm on my way to bed and will be out of town for a few days.
But I did want to put out the results and upcoming schedules for the playoff action throughout
Central America. BELIZE None COSTA RICA The Invierno playoffs start on Sunday with the first leg of
the semifinals.

CARSON, Calif.— The Los Angeles Galaxy have played in a number of big matches this season, but
all are dwarfed when compared to Wednesday's match against Monarcas Morelia in the CONCACAF
Champions League.
Three points behind co-group leaders Morelia and Alajuelense in CONCACAF Champions League play,
the Galaxy face a must-win game at 7 o'clock tonight at Home Depot Center against the Mexicans
(live on Fox Soccer and Telefutura).
Realistically, if the Galaxy don't win - a tie wouldn't help them much - their international
campaign is all but over, but they may have to play Morelia without three of their key players.

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica — The Los Angeles Galaxy were made painfully aware that earning road
points in the CONCACAF Champions League is no easy task, falling 1-0 to Alajuelense at the Estadio

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – David Beckham is expected to partake in the Los Angeles Galaxy's
CONCACAF Champions League match against Alajuelense on Wednesday, and his attendance has already
caused a stir in the local media.
The playoff race is heating up, and so too is the charge up the SBI MLS Power Rankings.
Philadelphia and Houston each came up with important victories to make up ground in the Eastern
Conference and climb further into the top 10. Even late-charging teams Toronto and Chicago, for
whom the postseason is a longshot, are getting their due, with each moving up as well.

US Soccer gives us a recap of part of Jurgen Klinsmanns recent European scouting trip.
CARSON, Calif. - Though the Galaxy may have experienced a busy summer, one LA player who did not
was Chad Barrett.
The Galaxy striker played against Seattle on July 4 at the Home Depot Center but injuries
sidelined him for the rest of the month and nearly all of August.
But it only took Barrett about six minutes to show that he can be a valuable boost to the squad
down the stretch when he made his first appearance last Thursday and scored a goal in the Galaxy's
2-0 win over Alajuelense in a CONCACAF Champions League group match.
A review of the rosters for the USA's opponents in the upcoming friendlies against Costa Rica and
Belgium reveals a lot of talent as well as some very familiar faces.
For the USA's first friendly against Costa Rica since 1995, interim head coach Ronald Gonzalez has

Jurgen Klinsmann's 24-man crew now knows exactly who it'll be going up against in the upcoming
