The Costa Rican national team called up Porfirio Lopez to participate in the country's friendly against Jamaica tonight, possibly receiving his second ever international cap. The game is set to be played at The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica at 8 P.M. (as of right now there is no legal online feed, or television channel, that is broadcasting the game for American viewers).

The Los Angeles Galaxy's search for Juninho's replacement has ended with Juninho himself.

The Sao Paulo central midfielder is on his way back to Los Angeles for another loan spell with the Galaxy. Multiple reports out of Brazil say that Sao Paulo manager Emerson Leao had no plans to use the 23-year-old Juninho, who signed a new three-year deal with Sao Paulo during the MLS offseason.

The U-23 Men's National Team wrapped up their January training camp with a scrimmage today against Alajuelense of Costa Rica.
Caleb Porter's squad has been in Central American since last week as they continue to prepare for Olympic Qualifying in March. A big part of that preparation as been acclimating themselves to the rhythm of a qualifying tournament and that's where this trip has come in: playing two games in four days is just the type of schedule the team will face when they take the field in Nashville for the group stage of the competition.

The Philadelphia Union continue their busy offseason by adding Costa Rican defender Porfirio Lopez from Chinese side Dalian Haichang.

Lopez, a 26-year-old left back, was most recently on loan at Costa Rican side Alajuelense, where he was a part of the team's back-to-back Apertura and Clausura championship teams.

The Philadelphia Union announced on Thursday the signing of Costa Rican left back Porfirio Lopez.

The 26-year-old Lopez, who was on loan with Costa Rica's First Division Champion Liga Deportiva Alajuelense from Chinese Dalian Haichang.

The press release from the Union says, "Lopez will be eligible to join the Union upon receiving his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.

Los Angeles Galaxy defender Gregg Berhalter announced his retirement on Wednesday, effective after the end of the 2011 season. Over the course of his 18-year professional career, Berhalter appeared in two World Cups for the United States while playing in professional leagues in England, Germany, Holland and the United States.

CARSON, Calif. - Though the Galaxy may have experienced a busy summer, one LA player who did not was Chad Barrett.

The Galaxy striker played against Seattle on July 4 at the Home Depot Center but injuries sidelined him for the rest of the month and nearly all of August.

But it only took Barrett about six minutes to show that he can be a valuable boost to the squad down the stretch when he made his first appearance last Thursday and scored a goal in the Galaxy's 2-0 win over Alajuelense in a CONCACAF Champions League group match.
