We all knew the Alvaro Fernandez loan was coming. It had gotten to Waiting for Godot type levels. Even Chicago-Fire.com Editor Jeff Crandall wrote articles with the implication that Fernandez was on his way out.
Well, the Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that the club has loaned Alvaro "Flaco" Fernandez to Qatari side Al Rayyan.
Last week witnessed two amazing goals from Saudi clubs. The first was from Al-Ittifaq vs. Al-Ahli
in what we can say as an Olympic league (under 23 years old)
The second goal was from Emad Al-Hosani from Al-Ahli vs. Al-Ansaar
Emad is Oman national team star, and he is famous by his bicycle kicks, watch these ones when he
was playing at Al-Rayyan from Qatar:

Con la victoria de Japón sobre Australia 1-0 (gol de Tandari Lee) en tiempo extra finalozó en
Qatar la XV edición de la Copa Asiática o Asian Cup, según su denominación en inglés (o كأس
آسيا, en árabe).
After a disappointing opening fixture of the Asian championships, matches in Group A continued on
Saturday with China taking on Kuwait. A crowd of less than seven-thousand rattled around Doha's Al
Gharafa stadium, a ground with a capacity of four times that. Thanks to an interesting
architectural design the view from our 'VIP' seats offered a full 40% panoramic view of the pitch.
Earlier today FIFA voted and decided which nations would host the 2018 and 2022 World Cup. While
maybe some thought that the tournaments would go to England (2018) and the United States of America
(2022), it wasn't so, and instead it was Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022) which won the rights to
host the tournament.
We now know that the 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar. Here is a quick look
at some of the venues that the games will be played at. Many of these soccer stadiums have not yet
been built but from for look, it seems that the new stadiums could have played a role in
Qatar winning the 2022 World Cup bid.
Qatar Stars League holders Al Gharafa are fighters to the core. Against Al Rayyan, they went behind
thrice, but came back each time to eke out a hard-fought draw. In the process, Al Rayyan lost a
chance to earn a morale-boosting win over the defending champions, who have not been in good form
so far in the tournament.
Lakhwiya once again proved to be giant-killers. They defeated Qatar Sports Club, who had been
undefeated until then, 1-0. Al Arabi, the only as-yet unbeaten team, zoomed to the top of the
tables.
Qatar Sports Club, known for their power game, could not execute it well against Lakhwiya.
Al Arabi's young guns tamed mighty Al Sadd 2-1 in the fourth week of the Qatar Stars League. Al
Arabi goalkeeper Rajab Hamza was outstanding and was rightly selected as the man of the match. His
great performance helped Al Arabi remain unbeaten in the League.
Al Sadd are desperate for silverware after two years without a single title at the domestic and
international levels. The team signed three players who competed in the recently-concluded World
Cup in South Africa — Ivorian Abdul Kader Keita, Algerian Nadir Belhadj and South Korean Lee
Jung-Soo.
Qatar has no time for World Cup 2010 they're looking to the future and beyond with their
futuristic World Cup 2022 bid. It's an awfully tantalizing bid for a number of reasons billions of
them, in fact; reasons which make it seem an awfully likely candidate, particularly if FIFA conduct
business as usual.
Well that was quick. I guess we know what Payne was doing in the Middle East last month, because
hot on the heels of the draft last Thursday, United announced the acquisition of Australian forward
Danny Allsopp (lately of Al-Rayyan in Qatar)....
D.C. United has announced the signing of Australian forward Danny Allsopp this afternoon; he will
be available pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
"Danny has shown an ability to score goals wherever he's been and we are confident he will continue
to do so for D.C. United," said general manager Dave Kasper.
Mano Menezes has a final word before Brazil's clash with Egypt
Brazil squad in full here
Mano Menezes has named the side that should start in the friendly against Egypt on Monday. The
coach has made changes from the team that beat Gabon 2-0 last week. Daniel Alves returns from
suspension and replaces Manchester United's Rafael.
Rumour No. 1: Champions League finalists Bayern Munich are said to be preparing
a £7 million bid for Manchester United's Park Ji-Sung.
The German side have apparently recognised that United are 'approaching a transitional period'
and hope to tempt them into parting with Park to help fund their overhaul.
The group stages in the two major Asian club competitions have concluded on Wednesday and there
was plenty of tension in the air. The remaining places in the Round of 16 stages of each
competition were up for grabs and ensured some dramatic action on Matchday 6.
In the AFC Champions League there was virtually nothing left to play for in the east of the
continent as all of the qualifiers from Groups E-H were known before kick-off.
O brasileiro Marcos Paquetá será o novo treinador da seleção da Líbia. O acordo com a
federação líbia foi assinado nesta sexta-feira e prevê a participação dele na
reestruturação do futebol no país.
"O trabalho será longo e o nosso objetivo é modificar completamente o panorama do futebol no
país.

2,022. That was the attendance figure announced when Japan faced off against Saudi Arabia
at Al-Rayyan stadium, and the symbolism drew a smattering of applause from the 800 or so fans
actually in attendance.
Evidently the Asian Cup is not a widespread crowd-puller. With most Saudi fans on the first bus
back to Jeddah as soon as the whistle blew on their second group-stage defeat, it's clear most of
the Saudi players wished they'd taken the same route.
DOHA, Qatar — Shinji Okazaki scored a hat trick and Ryoichi Maeda struck twice to give Japan a
5-0 victory over Saudi Arabia on Monday and a place in the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup. Japan
will play host Qatar on Friday after completely dominating its last Group B match. "We improved

DOHA, Qatar — Three-times champions Iran stormed back from the shock of losing an early goal to

DOHA, Qatar — Syria shocked 2007 finalists and three-time champions Saudi Arabia 2-1 at the Asian

Danny Allsopp, a striker with time in the A-League, Championship, EPL and Qatari Stars League
has joined DC United.
He's 31, and played for al-Rayyan who are 5th on a table of 12. The Qatari Stars League has been
dominated by al-Sadd (Khalfan's team) and al-Gharafah (Juninho and Nashat Akram formerly).
We'll soon officially announce that we've acquired Australian forward Danny Allsopp. The
31-year old has an impressive resume, having played at the highest level for Manchester City in
England. He most recently played with Qatar's Al-Rayyan and previously spent 4+ seasons with
Australia's Melbourne Victory, where he won a scoring title (2006-07) and helped the team to two
Grand Final championships.
Villarreal have agreed to sell playmaker Borja Valero to Serie A side Fiorentina for a fee
believed to be approximately €7m, according to the Spanish club's website.
Valero, 27, becomes the latest Villarreal star to leave as the club cut their wage bill after
unexpectedly suffering relegation from Spain's top flight last season.
Egypt ushered in the Bob Bradley era this week with their friendly versus Brazil.
John Duerden of Sports Illustrated writes of the task ahead of Bradley in his tenure with the
Pharaohs.
Even two hours before kickoff, the Egyptian fans were in full voice, chanting a soccer version
of a refrain familiar to anyone who had been in Tahir Square earlier this year as the Arab Spring
reached its zenith.
South Africa striker Katlego Mphela hopes to boost his chances of winning a place in the starting
line up for South Africa's opening World Cup match against Mexico by getting his name on the
scoresheet against Thailand on Sunday. The 25 year old, who is reportedly a transfer target for
Birmingham City has suggested that his task will be easy enough.
