UPDATE: According to Jordan Cross at The News, Sulaiman Al
Fahim admitted that he wants to sign Zamalek striker Amr
Zaki and believes the club can, but its not his decision. He said,
"It's not my decision, it is up to Paul Hart and Avram Grant
but I would like to see Amr Zaki .

Chris Griffin: Dad, was there ever a real city of New Orleans?"
Peter Griffin: "No one knows, Chris. No one knows."
It is interesting to see anyone and everyone walk into Pompey, buy up the club, and walk out two
days later. The revolving door has led to Pompey being dead last in the Premiership, player wages
being delayed, and transfer fees that have yet to be paid two years later.

You'd have thought that even the publicity junkie that is Sulaiman Al-Fahim would keep as low a
profile as possible, after his dismal, embarrassing failures at Portsmouth, but no. Having done a
round of self-justificatory chats with the UK press, who didn't balk at pointing out the flaws in
every argument he put forward, he returned to the happier, compliant hunting ground of the Arabic
press for his latest lecture to the masses.

Private Saudi sports investment firm F6 said on Saturday that talks with George Gillett, the
American co-owner of English football club Liverpool, to buy a stake in the club are on hold.
Gillett arrived earlier this week to Riyadh sparking speculation that the visit will push towards
the conclusion a deal with F6 owners, who include Saudi Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah and
Saudi businessman Majed al-Hugail.

English Premiership team, Portsmouth got a new owner, Saudi magnate Ali al-Faraj, who promised
financial stability and better future.
New owner took Portsmouth over from Sulaiman Al Fahim, who after only six weeks decided
to sell 90% of the shares to al-Faraj's company "Falcondrone Limited"
According to the club officials, Al Fahim will keep 10% of the shares, while Saudi magnate will
become the major holder after the approval of Football Association.

Pompey picked up some Saudi Oil money today as Saudi tycoon Ali al-Faraj bought 90% of the
financially stricken club from Sulaiman al-Fahim.
Al-Fahim, of Abu Dhabi, bought the club just 44 days ago - but he's out and the 40-year-old
al-Faraj is in.
So, what does this mean? Well - for starters, not much on the pitch: Pompey may have a large
arsenal of cash to use in the January transfer window - but they'll have to stick with their
hodgepodge of new signings and on-loan stars (O'Hara 4.

Transiting through London Heathrow this morning, on a journey from Florida to India, all the
talk among football supporters (who I sought out in the airports and on the plane because they
stand out in their club kits or England shirts) was not about any title contender but about
Portsmouth.

The Premier League's 'Fit-And-Proper-Persons-Test' is a primary example of Jean Baudrillard's phase
of the image template.
The new wave of owners are not fit, they are improper, the 'persons' are more likely to be shell
operations covering up for something altogether more seedy, and, most importantly of all, there is
no test.

Last week we covered that Portsmouth players had not been paid, and I asked whether Sulaiman al
Fahim actually had the money to buy the club.
The answer was no, as Sulaiman al Fahim today sold Portsmouth to Saudi property magnate Ali al
Faraj. Ali al Faraj is a familiar name to Pompey fans as Portsmouth executive Peter Storrie had
told former, former, Portsmouth owner Sasha Gaydamak that Al Farai was interested in buying the
club.

Update: Ali Al Faraj has completed his takeover of Portsmouth, acquiring a 90% stake in
the club. Sulaiman Al Fahim retains a 10% share.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
After Sulaiman Al-Fahim pulled the wool over the Premier League's eyes once during the
Manchester City takeover by pretending to be the owner and making pre-posterous claims on who
Manchester City could sign, the actual owners quietly sidelined him and brought in a more measured
representative.

Still sitting with a donut in the points column, Pompey are in desperate need of some points. It
seems as though everybody myself included has written them off already. I just published an
article earlier this week about how they are definitely being relegated this season. Do I think
they are going to get zero points over the course of the whole season, though?

Premier League clubs, it should be remembered, enjoy every single advantage that the football
world can throw at them. They have massive television contracts which give them an annual amount of
money that would keep most lower league clubs going for years. They have the opportunity of
European football.

The backlash of Emmanuel Adebayor's raucous celebration was felt again today as the striker was
doled out more punishment from the FA. This time it was a £25,000 fine and a two match suspended
ban for his celebration in front of Arsenal fans. The suspension means that he will only serve the
ban if he violates FA rules again before December of next year.

So Portsmouth has assured its players that they will be paid the wages they are owed on Friday.
Some players were not paid earlier in the week because of "a delay in the transfer of funds"
following Sulaiman al Fahim's recent takeover.
My question is what happened to the money? Al Fahim recently told the club's supporters he will
inject £50m into the club within the next month.

When Sulaiman Al Fahim announced his plans regarding the takeover of the club
this summer, Pompey fans started hoping Portsmouth would soon be able to challenge European places
in the least. However, completely the opposite happened as Paul Hart's side achieved the record of
worst start in the history of the Premier League, having lost no less than 7
opening games.

English football's "fit and proper persons" test, I would submit, has failed, and here are just
four reasons why:
1) Tom Hicks and George Gillett still co-own Liverpool.
2) Sulaiman Al-Fahim owns Portsmouth.
3) The Gods alone know who owns Notts County, even now "they" have "told" us
4) It isn't really a "test" at all.

Sulaiman Al-Fahim is, of course, the new owner of Portsmouth Football Club, but his

Paul Hart was nominated by various broadsheet football journalists as "Manager of the year" last

Twisted fire starter Richard Scudamore generally lies low.
He is a man who was made for the shadows.

Long ago, P.J. O'Rourke in his book A Parliament of Whores said,
"You can't get rid of poverty by giving people money."
I just can't help myself relating it to Manchester City.

£120 million in this single summer transfer window and around £200 million overall since last

Portsmouth will be relegated if the club does not stop hemorrhaging players. A new consortium is
