Saudi Arabian football will be well represented in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions
League. Following this week's Round of 16 matches three sides from Saudi Arabia made it through to
the last eight with another five teams, all hailing from different nations, to join them in the
business end of the tournament.

Al Wasl coach Diego Maradona will be without his goalkeeper Majid Nasser for the next 17 games
after he was caught on camera whacking Al Ahli coach Quique Sanchez Flores (of Valencia, Atletico
Madrid and 'Dr House' fame) across the back of the head in a fit of prissy rage
after the latter side put the former out of the Etisalat Cup on Saturday night.

estadio Al Rashid (Dubai) y se clasificó finalista de la Etisalat Cup (4º edición).

penal) por la 14º fecha de la Liga de Emiratos Arabes Unidos.
Después de tres victorias consecutivas y la renovación de esperanzas hacia las clasificaciones
coperas, el uruguayo Olivera (habilitado por Mercier) seguía con la inercia y ponía el tempranero
1-0 (´6) por arriba del arquero rival.
09.02.2012 - Con gol del uruguayo Juan Manuel Oliver (´18), Al Wasl venció (1-0) a Banni
Yas (dirigido por Gabriel Calderón) como local, coniguió su tercer triunfo consecutivo en Liga y
trepó al 4º puesto (compartido).
En un partido cerrado y de mínimas diferencias, Olivera volvió a marcar para acercar Al Wasl a la
punta (a 9 puntos de Al Ain) y descomprimir la tensión de la última semana, cuando Diego Maradona
avisó públicamente que así
"no puedo trabajar" y que
"no aceptaré otro presupuesto limitado" (sin refuerzos).
A week after deadly clashes at the end of an Egyptian league match between Ahl-Masry and Al-Ahli
turned tragic when Al-Ahli fans were attacked and killed by Masry supporters, football's world
governing body FIFA has responded by donating over $250,000 to families of those affected by the
violence.

Disaster in Egypt.
Fans of Al Masry in Port Said stormed the field today after a big upset win over Al Ahli, and then
all hell broke lose. As of this posting 73 people are reportedly dead and at least 1000 more
injured. There has been little word yet on how the deaths occurred, but a stampede is being blamed
for most of it.

As they say in Italy... Felice Anno Nuovo! As you may know, AC Milan
are now in Dubai for their training camp to escape the harsh winters in Europe and
do fun things like run on the beach. Unfortunately, they didn't have time to eat grapes or get
properly wasted over the New Year, although Robinho looks suspiciously capable of

In the world of football, festivities and holidays don't last very long... just ask AC
Milan! They've spent the last three seasons holed up in a winter training camp in Dubai,

Today is a celebration to all of the people in Libya by the death of one of the worst criminals,
not just in Libya, but in the whole Middle East. I remember once, I heard a historian describing
him as craziest leader ever been in the Arab world in several hundreds of years. As I join
celebration with the rest of world, I share few stories I heard either from TV, or read about them,

card assuming the player mocked the keeper. I don't think he meant it, it seems a pure
accident.
Somehow the funny penalties are linked to Arab teams.

Cup, but when they face big giants they are up to the challenge. Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Italy
all either suffered of hardly passed Mexico when facing them in WC games (apart of Argentina 2010
game).
