There were several shakeups in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Top 25 this week, but one thing
remains constant: The Akron Zips have received every first-place vote since the Week 1 poll, and
they don't look to be relinquishing the top spot anytime soon after winning their first five games
by a combined score of 11-0.
Minnesota's Ben Sippola
Last fall Minnesota soccer fans watched the career of Teal Bunbury unfold. Bunbury was playing
for the #1 ranked Akron Zips who went to the NCAA Championship game only to lose to Virginia. While
there are numerous college seniors from Minnesota participating in Division 1 college soccer this
2010 season, this year sees another Minnesotan making an impact on a top ranked Division-1 college
soccer program.

National Freshman of the Year candidate Perry Kitchen spent two and a half years in Residency in
Bradenton, but grew up playing for the Chicago Magic.
19-year-old Prior Lake, MN resident Teal Bunbury was the winner of the

The 2010 national title contenders in college soccer start and stops in the major power
conferences. Five of the last 10 champions have emerged from the ACC, and defending champion
Virginia will be eager to defend its title.
The Akron Zips removed any doubt about deserving their pre-season No. 1 ranking by completing a
two-game sweep of top ACC opposition with a 2-0 win at No. 3 Wake Forest on Sunday.
Junior striker Darlington Nagbe scored a goal and set up another to give the Zips defense all it
needed to work with.
The Akron Zips held on to the top spot in NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings for the third
straight week following a 2-0 victory over Bowling Green on Saturday. Virginia stays at No. 2
despite drawing with Duke, who fell to 11th in the rankings, which were released on Tuesday.

The Akron Zips have retained the top spot in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com poll for the
fifth-consecutive week after a 4-0 demolition of former No. 2 Tulsa last Friday. Akron, which has
yet to concede a goal all season, again received all 25 first-place votes, and Tulsa dropped to
No.
Boy there are some nice match-ups in this year's Men's College Cup tournament. The top seed
Louisville has an amazingly easy route to the Final Four while we won't be able to see an
Akron-Maryland final. The Akron Zips were the top team in the land for the majority of the season
before Louisville took over, they were handed a 3 seed which was shocking to say the least.

Billed as the top quarterfinal match up, the match between the California Golden Bears and Akron
Zips lived up to the hype.
The Zips defeated Cal in penalty kicks with MLS prospect Kofi Sarkodie slotting home the final
goal to advance to the semifinals in Santa Barbara against Michigan on December 10th.
Ben Sippola has been named by the Missouri Athletic Club as one of 15 semifinalist for the
prestigious Hermann Trophy. The award is given to the top male and female college soccer player in
the US.
Sippola helped his Butler Bulldogs to a 16-1-3 season and was named the 2010 Horizon League
Player of the year.
The Superdraft will be one of the best ways for the Sounders to get some depth in key positions.
A number of commentators believe it could be one of the deeper drafts in MLS history.
The draft will be important for the Sounders this year since they are near the salary cap and
still have some holes to fill.

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF -- The third time has proven the charm for the Akron Zips.
Akron has fallen in their last two appearances in the the final, but in Santa Barbara, the
Zips could not be stopped.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. The second year back to the College Cup was definitely the charm for the
Akron Zips' men's soccer team. A 1-0 win over Louisville gave Akron its first NCAA championship in
any sport. "It's been a long journey," Akron head coach Caleb Porter said. "It started Dec. 14
(2009) with a [.

Akron is the NCAA Division I champs for 2010.
The wonderful thing about being a soccer fan, particularly one based in the United States, is that
no matter the time of the year, there's always a soccer season. There's no quiet period, even in
the week and a half leading up to Christmas, where all that you really have going elsewhere is
regular season NBA (the horror) and the final quarter of the NFL season (the ridiculously
over-scrutinized).
Caleb Porter, coach of the NCAA champion Akron Zips, has signed a 10-year contract extension with
the school.
With success comes rewards. The University of Akron made that clear on Friday when it announced
a contract extension through 2020 for Caleb Porter, coach of the NCAA champion men's soccer
team.
Santa Barbara is the place to be this weekend as the College Cup gets underway Friday night.
