The Russian international goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev thinks he is ready for a move to the
Premiership, and after talking to his mate Andrei Arshavin, he is especially keen on moving to
Arsenal and London, with Man Utd being his second choice. The CSKA Moscow star believes that if a
good offer came in for him the [.
Arsene Wenger has categorically stated that he has a war chest to strengthen the Arsenal team this
summer, and judging by all the transfer news in the papers lately, it would seem that a new
goalkeeper is at the top of his list. Having already been linked with Neuer, Akinfeev and Lloris, a

While promoting Manchester United's North American Tour, which will kick off July 16th in
Toronto, Sir Alex announced he may only make one signing this summer.
"We'd maybe like to get one good player to the club, but it's not easy in the present day
climate. We're still assessing."
"Sometimes you have to have trust and faith in what we've developed in the last few years and
I'm going to stick with that, or most of it," he said.
Two big stories today, and I'll have to keep it pretty quick:
First, there are a number of reports out there about Joe Cole. One report had us coming to terms
with a deal with Cole for 80,000/week, which wouldn't be a terrible salary for a player like that.
If we're going to do a deal with Cole, it would need to be somewhere in that salary range.
Scattering my eyes across the Sundays and the general theme hasn't changed much: there's the
rustle of keeper talk and a persisting link to Everton's Phil Jagielka. The latter story has been
lingering long enough that the fee is now being quoted at a very un-Arsenal-like £15m. At that
price, I can't see us getting involved.
In preparation for the worst case scenario this transfer window, I've convinced myself that
Arsenal won't be signing anybody else of real note.
If we don't there is going to be serious implications for this years title charge. I don't see
how we can go into this season weaker than what we were last season and expect to do any
better.
