Steven Pienaar – SAFA 2009 Player of the Year

Bafana Bafana and Everton FC midfielder Steven Pienaar has been named the 2009 Bafana Bafana Player of the Year.
The announcement was made at a glittering ceremony on Thursday night (19 November 2009) at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Among others in attendance were the Minister of Justice Jeff Radebe as well as the 2002 Brazil World Cup squad winning captain Cafu.

Espinoza and Myers on Way to South Africa

The Kansas City Wizards 2 Generation Adidas players will be making their way over to South Africa with the rest of an MLS Generation Adidas team. Roger Espinoza and Chance Myers were both named to the team that will leave later this month for a 10 day tour of the World Cup hosting country. AWOL Khenyeza Dropped from Bafana Squad

Two players have been dropped from the original Bafana Bafana Squad and replaced. All but five are still to arrive in cap to prepare fro the friendlies against Japan and Jamaica later this month.

MTN8 Wafa Wafa Finals Results: Golden Arrows Destroy Ajax Cape Town 6 -0

At Half-time the Orlando Stadium was in the dark , then the the Lamontville Golden Arrows lit up the Soweto night with their 6-0 drubbing of Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 Wafa Wafa Finals.

The goals were scored by a Njabulo Manqana brace, Richard Henyekane, Thokozani Msheng, Nhlanhla Zothwane and an own goal from unfortunate Ajax defender Deniss Ivanovs.

MTN8 Wafa Wafa Final Ajax Cape Town vs Golden Arrows

The rescheduled MTN Wafa Wafa Super 8 Final will take place this weekend at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto between Ajax Cape Town and Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The final had to be rescheduled to 24 October 2009 after the announcement of the South African squad for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup -due to the fact that the Amajita squad contained five Ajax Cape Town players

Urban Warriors Take on Abafana Bes'thende

Now the Urban Warriors and their youngsters, (who reached the final sixteen in Egypt wit the South African U20 team) are ready to take on Abafana Bes'thende right in the heart of Soweto.

Mushin Ertugral Leaves Ajax Cape Town

Muhsin Ertugral has quit Ajax Cape Town. Urban Warriors CEO George Comitis said that the Turkish-born coach is leaving for Sivasspor, which finished second behind Besiktas in the Turkish League last year.

In the interim, Jan Pruijn will oversee the team over the next couple of weeks until they announce a new Head Coach.

Mkhanyiseli Siwahla Scores for Ajax Cape Town

20-year-old, Mkhanyiseli Siwahla, is most famously known as the youngest goal scorer in South African soccer history; he netted a goal for Ajax Cape Town in an ABSA Cup match on February 25, 2004. He was not yet 16-years-old.
The right winger was back in the news again this weekend when he scored for Ajax as the club defeated Bay United in Premier League Soccer action by a score of 3-1.
