Manchester City dramatically won their first English championship since 1968

In the second part of Stoppage Time's 2011-12 Season Review we take a look at how the season finished from England to Macedonia.

ENGLAND

Manchester City captured their first league championship for 44 years in dramatic fashion.

Montpellier stayed on top of the table, Sochaux got a key win, and much more in the French Ligue 1 on May 13, 2012.

AC Ajaccio 1-1 Lyon

Lyon's Bafetimbi Gomis scored a 53rd minute goal but Ajaccio equalized with a Eduardo Dos Santos penalty kick. Both teams had players sent off in match (Yoann Gourcuff & Anthony Lippini).

All 20 clubs are in action on the penultimate matchday of the season in the French Ligue 1 on May 13, 2012.

AC Ajaccio v Lyon

The match really has no significance for Lyon but it is vital for Ajaccio. A win would likely guarantee Ajaccio's safety while a loss or draw could put them in the bottom three.

Just last season, one could see Auxerre trying to fight their way in the Champions League group stages, against Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Ajax. Heck, they even beat Ajax at home! But things have changed, things have changed.

As the U.S. Soccer Development Academy action picks up locally, there are some Academy players taking their game outside of the country.

The Santa Cruz Breakers U-15/16 team gets set for the Mondial Montaigu tournament starting Friday, April 6, in France, while the New England Revolution U-15/16 pool formed a U-17 team to compete in the 2012 Future Champions Gauteng tournament in South Africa.

The Champions League is back and it's returned with a special fixture. Milan V Arsenal is arguably the cream of the second round ties. Aging giants in the process of transforming themselves to prove they aren't just heroes from the past meet a resurgent, fairly youthful side that is still looking to make its mark at the highest level.

News in the Daily Mail today that Newcastle are tracking AJ Auxerre midfielder Alain Traore. Alain Traore - 22 year-old Auxerre midfielder The 22 year-old started his career at Planete Champion in 2004 before joining Auxerre one year later. The 5'10″ midfielder made his first team debut for Auxerre in 2006, and has played 33 times [.

The 2011-12 Development Academy season kicked off this weekend with eight games in the South Conference. In the U-15/16 division, Concorde Fire started the season with two wins. Three goals from both Connor Antley and Cameron Moseley during the weekend helped the Fire to a 6-2 win against Richmond Kickers on Saturday and a 4-0 win against Virginia Rush AJ Auxerre on Sunday.

Eight teams qualified for the 2011 Finals Week in Milwaukee after winning their respective group over three days of play at the U-15/16 Playoffs.

Seattle Sounders was in charge of the group and with a dominating 4-1 win over D.C. United, they advanced with the full nine points.

The U-15/16 age group wrap up their Development Academy Playoff games today, sending the top team from each of the eight groups to Milwaukee, Wis., for Finals Week. Below are the possible advancement scenarios for the eight groups:

- With Seattle Sounders loss, the winner of Empire United and Soccer Academy moves to tie breaker scenarios to determine who advances

- If Dallas Texans draws and Albertson SC wins, the group would move to tiebreaker scenarios

In recent days the Montreal Impact completed their "French connection" by signing two players with Ligue 2 experience, midfielder Idriss Ech-Chergui and defender Kevin Hatchi. The signings bring Montreal to the seven foreign player roster limit.

The New York Red Bulls have already added many new faces to the team that won the regular season Eastern Conference crown. New York hopes to add one more piece to that puzzle with new trialist Teemu Tainio.

The current Ajax midfielder arrived in Mexico for Red Bull camp on Thursday night.

After a rather quiet offseason in terms of player moves, the New York Red Bulls are reportedly close to making a big splash in the transfer market.

According to reports out of the Netherlands, the club has a two-year offer on the table to Ajax midfielder and Finland international Teemu Tainio (pictured above, left), who has fallen out of favor at the club and can be had on a free transfer.

There's been plenty more action in European domestic cup competitions this week including the French League Cup semi-finals, Coppa Italia, English and Scottish FA Cup replays as well as the completion of the German Cup 3rd round following the postponement of two games in December due to bad weather.
