PRE-GAME:
-Crowd erupts as Barcelona takes the field, even though the Galaxy have been warming up the whole
time.
In which we learn that Alexi Lalas was in Steve Zakuani's hotel room the night before the draft,
Sam Cronin got his grill busted at the combine, AJ Delagarza wears unnecessarily large earrings and
Richard Jata's draft speech is still the best ever.
The Los Angeles Galaxy may be without defender Sean Franklin for the rest of the year, as the team
revealed on Wednesday that the 2008 MLS Rookie of the Year has undergone surgery to repair a torn
right upper hamstring tendon. Successfully performed at the Surgery Center of the Pacific in Santa
Monica, the procedure requires a 4-6 month rehabilitation period, meaning Franklin could
theoretically return to the lineup in the final month of the season if all goes well.

More good stuff.
Simon Davies gets a nice hat tip there. He won't be playing, possibly for the rest of the
year, but Roy singles him out as (essentially) an ideal pro. I think that's fair. Davies has
been a 7/10 player almost every week, and as I've said before, getting him involved seems to be
important for the team to really play well.
Last year's surprise package. A team with Paintsil and Konchesky at the full back spots with a
better defensive record than all but the top clubs. Now THAT'S a surprise! A lot of the credit for
that has to go to Schwarzer who was surely the signing of the season last year. Not only did he
solidify Fulham and take them into Europe but Boro's lack of an adequate replacement doomed them to
relegation.
In a replay of a game canceled due to rain, the Frisco Tournament semi-final between Crocker and
Laquey was played this afternoon.

Teddy Ziegenbien continues his scoring prowess, getting 2 goals and 2 assists while Jessie Tart
and Cody Williams also scored, with assists added by Cody Gibson and AJ Imilkowski.
In a little over a year, Bruce Arena transformed one of the worst teams in the league into a
contender for the 2009 MLS Cup. As a result of the remarkable turnaround, Arena was named as the
2009 Coach of the Year.
Hired to replace Ruud Guillt on August 18, 2008, Arena looked to change a Galaxy squad seen by
many as in disarray.
Remember to post your questions for the players or organizations and I will attempt to get the
answers for you post-game.
Lineups
Pre-Game:
-Parking lot is pretty full. Hope we get some good turnout. Already have signage up for the Angel
City Brigade, LA Riot Squad, and another support group (clearly Chivas USA since it mentione
rojiblank, but can't quite see the rest of it from up here)
-One player, who looks like Justin Braun, running around the outside of the pitch.
One of the not-so-surprising moves Bruce Arena made a week ago was starting Sean Franklin at right
back. I think it came down to a matter of bodies; with the arrival of Gregg Berhalter, there was an
excess in defense and both Tony Sanneh and Franklin got bumped out of the back as AJ De La Garza,
Omar Gonzalez, Berhalter and Eddie Lewis made up the Galaxy's defense and picked up a shutout in
the process.

PRE-GAME:
-Players warming up on the field and the sun is coming out now.
More wisdom. Roy wants to finish 7th, which I think is fair as we're there on merit*. AJ
doubtful for the weekend.
Roy says that we're trying to get Brede to commit. Meanwhile the press burst into life with
the Arsenal link today, as typified by this in the Telegraph. People write this sort of thing
off as paper talk, but I don't think the papers are as loose as folk would like us to believe.

Recebi de Neves AJ, do blog vozdoseven uma entrada colocada em Junho de 2008, acerca de Cristiano

ditosa Santa Comba Dão, onde curiosamente se disputa este fim-de-semana a XIII
edição.

The Galaxy weathered two power outages, a disallowed goal by Andrew Hainault, and a dominant
Dynamo display in the second half to score two extra time goals.
Landon Donovan becomes the MLS all time leader in goals scored as he converted the penalty after
Alan Gordon was brought down by Ricardo Clark in the box.
Kartik was right. There was a buzz about this game – two solid, mature teams with
something to prove. In the end, the Galaxy went out deserved winners. Some thoughts...
Welcome back Sean Franklin. When 2008 Rookie of the Year Franklin tore his
hamstring in mid May, Galaxy fans saw disaster.

Gregg Berhalter is all business!
While Landon Donovan and David Beckham bask in the aftermath of the Galaxy making the playoffs,
the real story in their turnaround is their defense.
31 goals given up in 2009. That is half of the 2008 total!
That is right. In 2008, the Galaxy gave up 62 goals even as they set the scoring ablaze with 55
goals.

Wow, wow, wow. What a game!
Like commenter Diane, I LOVE me some AJ Delagarza! Magee was fairly worthless with a horrible
first touch for most of the match. Kirovski was brought in, why? Beckham did very well, but boy he
was soooo tanked in overtime. I really felt for him and the others.
The KC Wizards Juniors opened their play in the US Soccer Developmental Academy today outside
Houston, as the 16's and 18's both took on Texas Rush AJ Auxerre. Both the 16's and the 18's came
away with 1 goal wins over their Texas counterparts. The 16's took took their game against the Rush
1-0. Meanwhile, the 18's twice came from a goal down to win their game 3-2 over the Rush side.
