Watford are a Good Team – Get Used To it

Michael Moruzzi kicks off 2013 for us: If this is wrong I don't want to be right (or I'm sorry I'm not sorry) Not so long ago, in a satellite town not very far away (from London), Aidy Boothroyd's spell as Watford manager was reaching an unpleasant conclusion. Those who hung about to witness the end saw some of the most depressingly clueless football ever seen at Watford.

A New Man at Coventry: Aidy Boothroyd

Aidy Boothroyd's recruitment of Gary McSheffrey to the Coventry City ranks is one of those signings it's tricky to assess. In the middle years of the last decade, the inside forward shone in sky blue, moving on to win a Championship promotion with Birmingham, before finding the Premier League to be a bit too elevated a platform.

Boothroyd Out At Vicarage Road

Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd has become the Football League's latest managerial casualty after a less than inspiring start to the championship season at Vicarage road, which has seen Watford claim only 15 points from their opening 15 championship fixtures. The man who led the unfancied Hornets to the heady heights of the Premier League in 2006 has reportedly left the club by mutual consent following a string of poor results which has left last seasons Championship play off semi finalists hovering just one place above the Championship relegation zone.

One of the many privileges of being a football writer is that occasionally you can be totally self indulgent and write something just to get it off your chest. The 19-year old Sierra Leone midfielder arrived in the UK in 2005, bright-eyed at the prospect of being scouted by a soccer team, let alone one the size of Watford. Monday Profile - Roy O'Donovan

At the end of June, Aidy Boothroyd made Roy O'Donovan Coventry's third acquisition of the summer. While not exactly a big-name signing, there are reasons to be cautiously optimistic about Roy's future at the Ricoh. It's hard to say exactly what level this player is meant for. He signed as a trainee for Coventry in 2001, and left after three years without making a first team appearance, apparently

Marlon King Released From Prison, Does He Really Deserve Another Chance?

Who Ate All the Pies at related • 0 views

By Chris Wright

Former Wigan striker Marlon King has been released from prison today after serving nine months of an eighteen-month sentence for sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman (whom he left needing hospital treatment for a broken nose and a split lip) in a Soho nightclub in December of 2008.

Wigan for Marlon?

Big rumours now circulating that the two clubs looking to buy Marlon King are Wigan and Middlesbrough. Boro would throw in Adam Johnson on loan to the end of the season, but only if they can persuade Stewart Downing to stay. Not sure if Wigan would be offering cash plus player or just cash.

It seems Wigan are favourites.

Every week Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd sends an e-mail out to Watford fans explaining what's going on both on and off the pitch. I waited for the e-mail with more anticipation than normal this week, knowing that he would explain the position in relation to Marlon King's transfer to Fulham. On that very subject this is what Aidy had to say:

"With regards to Marlon, it's as we were.

Aidy Boothroyd - Why he deserves support

Unbelievably, some Watford fans are calling for manager Aidy Boothroyd to be sacked. A poll on one of the fans forums has 80% in favour of him staying. The fact that there is even a poll, let alone 20% of people saying he should get the sack, is completely shocking.
I have been as critical of the way Watford are playing their football as anyone has.

Adrian Neil Boothroyd was born 8th February 1971 near Bradford. He was a decent footballer and his professional career as a full back took him to Huddersfield Town, Bristol Rovers, Hearts, Mansfield Town and Peterborough United. In total he played 158 first team games scoring 4 goals, before injury brought his career to a premature end at the age of 26.

Proper reports: cafc.co.uk, BBC Sport Hmmmmmmm. Going down to a soft goal (Jonathan Fortune, what were you doing?) I can kind of, sort of take. Because these things happen. And you can fight back from those. But having the match totally skewed by a bad ref, a linesman who didn't want to correct him, and the tedious, time-wasting antics of Aidy Boothroyd's golden shower is a tought one to
