Have you been doing any of this?
Me neither.
I've had my nose to the grindstone instead.
What's more, all this wintery weather has meant most football fixtures are being postponed,
resulting in it being very sparse for those of us seeking the odd titbit or two to weave into a
blog post.
My Lover is plotting.
Plotting and planning to introduce a huge flatscreen into our bijou living room.
What you need to know is that since My Lover and I started living together two years ago we have
gradually developed a more alternative sort of lifestyle and home.
For example we hardly ever use the central heating.

Bolton Wanderers unveiled their new home football kit for the 2010-11 season last week. It's a
dramatic improvement from the shirt designs they've worn during the last two years. One looked like
a sports bra. And the most recent one looked like a tea towel. This upcoming season, the shirt
looks perfect.

Silky skills for a good cause var vaunit_unit_type=0; var vaunit_width=300; var vaunit_height=250;
var vaunit_id=542; It's pretty damn cheesy, but since it is raising awareness of such an important
cause we will let this slide without comment. Suffice to say, the irony of using viral marketing to
combat HIV is not lost on us.

Well, Brazil deserved their 3-1 win against the Ivory Coast. Luis Fabiano scored a blinder to
break the deadlock, and although his second goal was clearly a handball, it had Joga Bonito written
all over it.

Aston Villa has signed American fullback Eric Lichaj to a three year extension, a good sign that
the 21 year old is on the verge of breaking into the first team. That's certainly his goal after
going out on loan the past two seasons. What the managerial change at Villa might mean for Lichaj
is obviously uncertain; playing time is key for a player of his age, so unless he's solidified his
place as a capable squad player who can step in when needed, or reserve games are enough to push
him along, perhaps another loan is in the cards.
There probably isn't a large mass of people wanting to see Cristiano Ronaldo's ego soothed with
a massive statue constructed of his likeness. Since W.T.F. was such an epic disaster, they've
rewritten it with Didier Drogba the lead role, at least, with a familiar supporting cast fighting a
cause we can all, presumably, get behind: ridding the world of AIDS, via the Didier Drogba Prep
School.
Well, first we'll need to come to the agreement that soccer is an alactic-aerobic dominant
sport. Meaning that the typical movement profile within a match involves a player making, on
average, a 20-meter sprint every 30-90sec over the course of a 90-minute match. Depending on the
position, players will make approximately 50-80 sprints in the game, and yet cover 10-14km (check
research by Thomas Reilly, Jens Bangsbo, or Raymond Verheijen for more specifics).
There are some big movers and shakers this month, with 30 spot jumps being made like it's a
Sunday stroll in the park and further evidence that hanging onto past glories will get you
absolutely nothin' what have you done for me lately?
Italy and France continue their freefall to oblivion and Bolivia (no, really they're holding up
the Top 50) and a couple of relatively recent solo acts, Slovakia and Montenegro, are shooting up
the table, proving once and for all: sometimes, parting ways with old friends will help your
FIFA/Coca-Cola standing.
After seven matches of the 2010-11 Premier League season, it's becoming clear which sides are
the best to sign players from. One interesting thing, however, is to see how their performance as a
squad aids their individual point-totals. Granted, how the side plays has little effect on the
strikers, but defensively the change is huge.
