Has father time finally caught up with the ageless Aleksander Duric?
The striker who has netted 73.83 zillion goals during his 416 year Singapore career, he was having
a kick around on the beach when some toffee nosed English git on a boat sailed past and decided to
plant the Union flag where the penalty spot was, has been omitted from the 27 man squad that has
been called up to play against Hong Kong and Malaysia in June.
Tampines Rovers' continental campaign is in danger of not having themselves crossing the AFC Cup
group stages for the first time since their participation with 1-0 defeat to Malaysian club side
Terengganu FA at JBS.
A horrific start to the game when Tampines's' custodian Sasa Dreven and defender Benoit Croissant
gifted Terengganu FA's Joseph Kalang Tie a perfect gift when the duo's miscommunication resulted an
one-nil lead in less than five from the kick-off.

6400 is something you cant avoid when you are shooting at Toa Payoh Stadium.
If fans of Indonesian football have any awareness at all of Singapore football it is probably
limited to Tampines Rovers. The team from the east coast of the city state have provided several
internationals to clubs in Indonesia with varying degrees of success.
Khairul Amri is widely recognized as one of the most talented players of his generation and when
he made the move to Persiba Balikpapan many hoped he would bring his prodigious talent to one Oil
City.

Other games were scheduled but never happened. Arema flew all the way to Papua to play
Persipura...but last year's champions had already withdrawn from the league and were playing n the
Inter Island Cup. Who the hell allowed them to fly when they had no opponent?
Mr Teo Hock Seng, Tampines chairman hugged by his players
after the 1-0 victory over Home United on an atrocious field. A decent turn out at the Tampines
Stadium saw the epic clash between Tampines Rovers and league leaders Home United on a unplayable
surface marred by the heavy downpour before the start.
- S.League Match- Balestier Khalsa 0-1 Tampines Rovers (6/8/11)
Ahmad Latiff (pictured above in yellow jersey) delivered the sucker punch at the last kick of the
game to help Tampines Rovers beat Balestier Khalsa 1-0 at Toa Payoh Stadium.
While the Tigers had a Mark McGough's goal disallowed which they claimed the Aussie's effort had
crossed the goal line before Lions defender Fahrudin Mustafic cleared for safety in the first half.
Been looking forward to this game ever since the World Cup Qualifiers were announced a few months
back. OK, Malaysia had to overcome a tricky Chinese Taipei first but they did so and now we have
it.
Singapore are one of the most successful teams in the history of Malaysian football, as Chairman
Mao would have said the neighbours are like lips and teeth.
(Many thanks to a friend who Whatsapp the attached images that depicted the national provisional
squad.)
The much awaited national provisional squad list was made know just a hour ago at the Jalan Besar
Stadium (as pictured below).
(Pictured above) The "senior" 23 players of the provisional squad.
Reports coming out of Singapore suggest national team coach Raddy Avramovic has sensationally
dropped several big names ahead of World Cup Qualifiers in July.
Out go Noh Alam Shah, Baihakki Khaizan, M Ridhuan, Agu Casmir and Precious. The only overseas based
in the squad of 30 are Mustafic Fahruddin, reportedly returning to Singapore next month, Shahril
Ishak, from the previously rebel Liga Primer Indonesia, and Khairul Amri.

Locals' pride was salvaged in the last 10minutes of the game as Tampines Rovers came from behind to
snatch a dramatic 2-1 win over the recently-revamped defending champions Etoile FC in the season
opener - The Charity Shield at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Things didn't start off too pretty for the Stags as they found themselves with a goal down from a
spot-kick from Etoile in less than 20 minutes.
Recriminations continue in Singapore after a year that will go down as perhaps the worst in the
history of football on the island. Foreign teams swept the domestic trophies, the national team
failed to make it to the Asian Cup and failed to perform at the AFF Cup in December.
Scapegoats are needed and now judging by some reactions.
