Using the word ‘ever' in a headline always risks taking hyperbole too far, but this example from

If reports are to be believed, Tottenham outcast Giovani dos Santos was set for a summer
transfer to Villarreal which has been scuppered due to the Spanish side's shock relegation. Gio has
barely been a fringe player this season and even without this deal, surely his White Hart Lane
agony must be coming to an end?

With just a few hours to go until the biggy kicks off in Munich, we thought we'd have a little
look back at last year's Champions League final a game which saw Barcelona well and truly paddle
Man Utd's little pink botties at Wembley on May 28th, 2011.
Millions of viewers around the world tuned into the final moments of the Premier League season last
Sunday, resulting in ecstasy for some, agony for others and astonishment from all. But whether
you're a lifelong supporter or newly hooked to ...
This is a content summary. Visit http://www.
Not since the days when Jurgen Klinsmann used to lead the line at Spurs have we ever wanted to
cheer on Germans quite so much. 4th place is secured but Saturday's Champions League final will be
even more agonising to watch than our league run in – and that's saying something!
Tottenham finished the season in a manner in which the campaign got off and running – a 2-0
win with goals from Adebayor and Defoe – and Harry was delighted with fourth place overall.
Arsenal full-bak Bacary Sagna will miss France's Euro 2012 campaign this Summer after he broke
his fibula in the Gunners 3-3 draw with Norwich.
Sagna who was tackled by Bradley Johnson in the lead up to an Arsenal attack and held his leg
before getting up as the ball broke Sagna put his foot up to control it before dropping to the
ground in agony.
No team is as reliably almost-but-not-quite great as the Chicago Fire. After their MLS Cup
winning expansion season in 1998 they made the playoffs in 10 of the next 11 seasons, but never won
it again - a stretch that included 2 finals losses and a grueling 5-year run from 2005 to 2009 of
losing in the conference finals 4 times.
Another example of the ridiculous diving that's been dominating football in recent weeks. What's
special about this one, from the Danish league, is the excuse thrown out by the offender, Ronnie
Bendtsen of HB Koge. SønderjyskE's Quincy Antipas, moving with all the force of a marshmallow
launched from a slingshot, backs into Bendtsen.

No idea why, but this clip is doing the rounds this afternoon after those bods over at Football
365 got the ball rolling. Pies have now watched it four-score and 20 times consecutively and we can
now safely conclude that there's nothing to not like about it.
Monday's disappointing result has added pressure to an already difficult fixture. Failure to
gain three points from the Chelsea game will seriously jeopardise our push for a third place
finish. Not only will it add impetus to the chasing pack but it will make the rest of the
season's fixtures must win games not want win games.
Well done, Chelsea. Sorry, but it felt like it needed saying. Barcelona are very good,
transcendentally good (whatever I mean by that they're elite, though, one of the best teams ever).
Chelsea, as we saw at our place, are a creaking, slightly one-dimensional side who have players
famous for their 'do-or-die' attitude (if ever something has held back a nation's football it's
that attitude, that 'our spirit will see us through' 'we'll come up big when it matters' 'oh, we've
let another one in').

Seen a couple of stories recently linking Brazilian striker Marcio Souza with Persib Bandung. Souza
currently plays for Arema but is best known for spending several seasons with Persela before short
stays with Deltras and Semen Padang.
Souza's talent is unquestioned but he does have a reputation for throwing himself spectacularly to
the ground, face contorted in agony and pleading with the ref.
I was walking down the Euston Road the other day and asked someone for his autograph. Turns out
he was foreign and didn't seem to understand what I wanted.
"Your autograph," I said, thrusting out a pen and piece of paper.
He looked confused. So, in typical English fashion, I explained further.
Well, this was sort of inevitable, no? (Alright maybe not.)
As part of an exhibit in New York, Algerian sculptor Adel Abdessemed made a statue of the most
infamous moment in football of the last decade, perhaps longer: the love dance between Zinedine
Zidane and Marco Materazzi.

What a week it has been. After half an hour of last weekend's North London derby, it appeared
that the gap between us and Spurs would increase to a mammoth and surely unassailable thirteen
points, with Chelsea and Liverpool taking over as favourites to pip us for fourth.

We know how important the Finest 5 list is to you guys. Our beleaguered comments moderator's
refusal to come out from underneath her desk when we do an update tells us that.
But in your haste to complain at us for leaving out the likes of Sergio, Aaron, Fernando and
David James (ahem), have you lot even stopped to think about the effect that these lists
have on the players?
Juan Mata has spoken ahead of the United game on Sunday. In the short time he has been here in
England, he has made an impact and has become an important player for Chelsea now and in the
future.
Speaking of the weekend, Mata reveals that the players aren't happy with the ways things are going
but are determined to put things right in every game starting with United.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. There can be few other sets of football
supporters that have had to bear up to the sort of agony and exhilaration that the supporters of
Darlington FC have had to put up with yesterday but eventually, more than an hour after final
confirmation one way or the other of the clubs fate was due to be announced, those concerned with
saving the club emerged before the press to make the announcement that so many had hoped for:
Darlington Football Club remains alive for now, at least.
Thankfully the matches this festive period are all within a day of each other, as it may quell
the potential agony. Look at this run:
H Manchester United Wed 21 A Chelsea Mon 26 A Norwich City Sat 31 H Arsenal Mon 02
Yikes. Yet the only solace I can find is that at least the fixtures aren't reversed.

The fifteenth of May must have felt like a long time ago for the supporters of Farnborough FC on
Tuesday night. On that particular day, Farnborough stood at the cusp of a place in the Blue Square
Premier. Having finished in second place in the Blue Square South behind champions Braintree Town,
they started their play-off final with home advantage and as the favourites to beat Ebbsfleet
United.

Gone are the days of carrying around your kids' most precious moments in your back pocket or
purse, Kickette boys and girls. As Abbey Crouch and Danielle Lloyd can attest, it's much more fun
to capture your babies' chocolate biscuit antics as it happens.
Bah. One of those annoying games that you wish hadn't happened. A decent looking encounter was
spoiled by the needless dismissal of renowned hard-man Moussa Dembele, whose wayward arm sent
Wisla's Nunez spiralling into deep agony. That Dembele barely touched Nunez, that the touch was
on his shoulder, not in his face (as suggested by Nunez in his distressed state), perhaps suggests
a mistake by the referee, and with that mistake went the game: we lost 1-0 to a team that lost to
Odense.
What is the difference between a dive and a flop? In part two of our series ("Fall of the
Superman") PF will discuss the art of the dive, which we defined as any airborne maneuvers employed
by a player (such as Emmanuel Eboue's tongue extension in the Champions League Final four years
ago). The ensuing "flop" is the second movement to this ballet whereas the magic of flight is
ruptured by contact with earth.
That was that then.
A blessing, perhaps, that our agony wasn't prolonged. As Spain attempted to pass Scotland to death
in Alicante, Czech Republic had already gone ahead in Lithuania.
When David Silva scored Spain's opener inside six minutes the game was up.
Not the agony of past failures when Scotland have teased us into believing before tripping over
their own inadequacies at the final hurdle.
Fernando Torres finally broke his 23 game scoring drought yesterday at Old Trafford, but the
ecstacy quickly turned to agony for the former Liverpool striker, with a stunning miss that must
surely rank amongst the worst of all time. It's hard to understand how Torres missed this sitter:One
thing is for certain - Chelsea's 'slow' midfield had nothing to do with this howler.
