Arsene's Speech at the AGM
After hearing Arsene's speech at the AGM in full, I decided that it should be transcribed and
submitted (slightly edited) as a full article.
Details are far and few between, but word broke this morning that the United States
Soccer Federation has expressed concern over the North American Soccer League for sanctioning
Division II professional soccer in the US for the 2011 season.
According to sources, the federation held a board meeting by phone on Thursday where it was
decided that the NASL has at this time not met enough of the new D2 standards that were set in
August of 2010 for sanctioning of the league.
In a briefly worded press statement released Saturday evening, US Soccer confirmed that the
North American Soccer League was provisionally sanctioned as a division 2 professional league for
2011.
Confirming what IMS posted Saturday morning, the statement said: The provisional sanctioning
allows the NASL to operate a Division 2 league during the 2011 season.
The non-league football AGM cup had been eagerly awaited, but the early results have still come
as a bit of a shock. Rushden & Diamonds were expelled from the Football Conference this morning, a
decision that will have ramifications throughout the non-league game. Southport, who finished in
fourth from bottom place in the league and were to be relegated into the Blue Square North for next
season, will be reprieved and Hertfordshire club Bishops Stortford, in one of those quirks that is
always possible in a regional system, seem likely to be shifted into the Blue Square North.
As usual the yearly Arsenal shareholders meeting comes around, and there have talks of mass
protests after Arsenal's disastrous start to the season, but now the Gunners have started to string
some wins together, Arsene Wenger is not worried about facing the (usually) tough audience on
Thursday. He said: "I do not meet with the [.

Silent Stan Kroenke finally spoke to Arsenal's shareholders at the club's annual AGM in London
today. The US billionaire said: "(Arsenal) has tremendous management at the top, a wonderful
manager on the pitch who makes great decisions in regard to personnel, and a tremendous following
with the supporters.

While there's not been a lot of news to report on the NASL sanctioning front in the last
few days, things are about to get interesting.
The USSF Annual General Meeting takes place in Las Vegas this Friday morning and ends Saturday
afternoon. This is the same meeting that the NASL would have been officially approved as the
sanctioned division 2 league in the U.
Bill Archer lays out the awesome committee maneuvering the USSF had to engage in to come to the
result of granting the NASL "provisional" sanctioning in 2011:
So it's fair to say that in this process Gulati violated both the spirit and the letter
of the USSF Bylaws in two ways:
1) The Board voted to approve an application despite the fact that the Bylaws clearly state that
they may not do so in the face of a negative committee report.
I was not present at the weekly Wenger press conference yesterday morning in the media room at
the Emirates - but with so many websites posting up the video of it, I did not need to be.
The noise from the pond life scum, otherwise known as the British Press, this weekend will no
doubt be a negative one towards our transfer policy, based purely on the fact Wenger stated he
believes in his current crop of players.

Apologies for being slightly late to get round to this today, but the Premier League announced
this morning that they have finally decided to abolish their nonsensical 'weakened team' rule i.e,
the rule that essentially stipulated that clubs could be fined and sanctioned for choosing to field
members of their registered senior squad after all 20 top flight sides voted for it to be scrapped
at their AGM in June.
The news that the annual shareholder Q&A has been postponed is a disastrous PR move by the club,
and just confirms to me that those who are running the club have double standards. Last time I
looked, the annual Q&A was a vehicle which prevented the AGM from descending into farce with
shareholder's questions from the floor heaping embarrassment upon the Board members present.
Welcome to TGIF, Thank Gooner it's Friday, which was derailed by a major computer crash courtesy
of Microsoft windows 7 Ultimate, which even they were unable to fix. But seeing as it Saturday,
perhaps I should use Berg10's suggestion of TGIS! TGIt's Saturday? There is so with so much going
on in the world at the moment, but I am going to concentrate yet again upon the plight of Arsenal
Football Club and it's beleaguered Board, as they retreat into the Laager.
Arsene Wenger is confident that club captain Robin van Persie will sign a new deal at the
club.
The Dutchman, who has been sensational for The Gunners so far this season, has just 18 months
left on his current contract. Despite last summer's high-profile departures of Samir Nasri and Cesc
Fabregas, Wenger is sure the 28-year old will put pen to paper.
Morning all, I woke up a bit late this morning so I'm going to have to fly through this.
I guess the main talking point this morning is yesterday's AGM. There's a fairly in-depth report
over on Arseblog News, but even that tells you that a lot was said but not much of it was of great
interest.
Well, this is a bit odd. For the first time in 15 years my morning routine has changed. When we
got the dog my first task of the morning would be to get up, let him out and clean up the mess he'd
made overnight. Given his age he'd kind of come full circle but it's very weird to see the space
where his bed used to be.
I won't pretend to be a research doctorate in Annual General Meetings and their various
intricacies. To be frank, I see it as a stage-managed social exercise conducted with an outer view
to placate and appease supporters; but with most of the genuine concerns and queries being
spin-doctored away by murmuring sweet nothings into said supporters' ears.

So the AGM has been and gone, unfortunately I have had to rely upon other peoples' accounts and
comments, but it seems pretty clear that there is a bit of a vacuum in our boardroom in certain
areas of skill. Arsene was impressive as always, there was a lot of talk of a united front which is
reasonable, but certain key failings were avoided in a way that was slightly disrespectful to the
Facing the crowd
What kind of title is that? Ask Stan Kroenke. That's the first word and the greeting that the
biggest shareholder in Arsenal PLC said during the Annual General Meeting that was held on
Thursday. It's the much anticipated meeting that has been delayed time and time again. I doubt that
the club did take into consideration the improving results when trying to schedule this
meeting.
Keep calm. We are Arsenal by Richard Hall Yesterdays AGM meeting has, according much of the press,
left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans and share holders alike. A lack of clarity, a lack of
vision, a failure to answer the questions that apparently so many of the fans need answering, are

Day ten of the SPL Advent. Rangers. Dreaming of a Whyte Christmas.
Rangers offer another chance for one of these half season reviews to become more a work of
financial reporting. I'll try to resist.
We know the taxman cometh, we know Craig Whyte himself rarely seems short of a battle to fight and
we know that other companies and individuals have raised concerns over Rangers' financial position.
