It was as rapid as it was unexpected. Farsley Celtic thought that they had dodged the bullet of
a High Court winding up order brought by HMRC. They were forced into administration by the
Australian brewing giant Coors - another one of their creditors - earlier this week to prevent the
winding up order from going through today, but the Football Conference threw a curve ball at them
has thrown them into an - if anything - even more serious crisis than the one that they were
already in.
Well by all accounts the AGM was a fairly uneventful affair. Arsene got a big birthday book,
made a nice speech, Stan Kroenke was there and refused to talk and we got some little known facts
about Gunnersaurus.
Obviously a reflection of how things are at the club at the moment. On the pitch things are
looking good, off the pitch things are looking good and there's unlikely to be controversy or
difficulty in those circumstances.
A very good Saturday to all of you. No Arsenal today as they will only be playing tomorrow. So
full preview only on tomorrow's post.
Arsenal held their AGM on Thursday and it was a much relaxed one compared to the one held post
the semifinal lost to Man United. There were no one in the party who questioned Arsene Wenger's
actions or tactics.
Stan Kroenke has purchased even more shares in Arsenal today taking his holding to 29.9% of the
club. With only another 0.09% required to reach the threshold to make an offer for the rest of the
clubs shares, Kroenke has purchased 627 shares this week for the princely sum of £5.3 million.
Dear Arsene,
Praise is good but it should be meaningful. Robin Van Persie is having a fantastic season but to
say he is the best striker in the Premiership is jumping the gun. Didier Drogba will have some
words on that. Comparing Van Persie to Dennis Bergkamp is definitely jumping the shark.
Am i the only one who pores over the Annual Report, nodding and gasping without really knowing what
it is telling us ? Fortunately, Bryan Matthew does know his assets from his intangibles, and
highlights the key points below in a way the rest of us can understand. So, after that hugely
disappointing Forest defeat, [.
The Stevenage Borough Supporters Association annual meeting took place tonight at the Broadhall
Suite for the 2008/2009 campaign. Again, it has been another tough year for the SA, with
subscriptions reaching their lowest level since the first season in 1994. However, another profit
has been recorded, although a lot of that was down to the club reaching the FA Trophy Final last
season.
Pre-Season starts in just 3 days time as Boro travel to Chemsford on Wednesday night. It's a
less high profile start to pre-season after last years visit to Gillingham. The Stevenage players
and staff have been back in training for about 2 weeks now and should be at a good fitness level
going into the first game.
Tuesday is a day when you forget how sh*t Mondays really are, and after the news about ex Gunner
John Hartson, it didn't seem right to post anything else yesterday. But as life goes on, I suppose
the news breaking at the weekend that Manchester City are negotiating a 170 thousand per week, 20
to 22 million transfer for our one and only "I would play for Arsenal for nothing"
Adebayor which was confirmed by Sky sports News sources will draw only a sigh of relief that with
that kind of cash influx, we can therefore afford a decent striker as well as 22yr old Blaise
Matuidi from St Etienne.
A second half hat-trick from League One's joint-leading goalscorer, Lee Barnard, gave Southend
their first league win this season against a poor Leyton Orient side.
In a largely unforgettable first half, both teams looked nervous on the ball and the flow of the
game was stilted. But the Blues came to life after the break, and Barnard got his first from the
penalty spot on 59 minutes.
For life.
Wenger said: "I'd never want to go anywhere else. Touch wood, as long as I have my health, I
would want to work as long as I live but adapted to my potential."
I have to tip my hat to the man. He is committed. He is focused. He breathes the club and the
game. You simply cannot ask more from a manager.
The first part of our house move is now done (selling the old one), so the blog should return to
normal for about a week, until we get the keys to the new place and it all kicks off again.
Apologies for the late nature of the posts in the meantime.
So what have I missed? Well, I caught the Alkmaar game in the early hours of Wednesday morning,
and for the most part thought we looked comfortable.
by CARL ELDRIDGE The stars and stripes will soon be flying over the Emirates Stadium. Well,
maybe not but surely it can't be much longer before Yank billionaire Stan Kroenke launches a
takeover bid for the Arsenal.
For the Denver Nugget has snapped up a further 10 shares in our holding company, at a cost of
£85,000 and now the odd-haired moneybags owns 28.
It's now or never for Arsenal Football Club. Stan Kroenke has been mopping up small
shareholdings over the last couple of weeks to raise his share in the club to 29.8%. He is a
fraction below the mandatory bid figure of 29.9%.
It was rumoured that he bought 100 shares from Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood; this is the
same man who famously said, "We do not need his sort at this club.

I am a fierce defender of Arsene Wenger, but could there be times when he could actually unite
the fans more if he changed his pronouncements? I agree totally with the need to accept that Arsene
Knows and to give him our loud support. Arsene Wenger is no fool. However equally Gooners are not
stupid either.
Southend United Chief Executive Geoffrey King has strongly defended his statement about striker
Alex Revell during the club's Annual General Meeting this evening (Thurs).
On two seperate occasions Mr King was asked whether he would apologise for these comments he made
on Tuesday, following the departure of Revell on loan to Swindon:
"Alex Revell has failed to live up to expectations.
60 years young today.
What's he doing to celebrate? Probably having some kind of big, lavish party, with Elton John
playing songs while young starlets mill around drinking champagne? How about it, Arsene?:
No, I have nothing to celebrate. It will be very quiet. I have the AGM.

A loss of the ability to see past the end of their noses is one of the more repugnant character
traits of the modern football supporter. While the media were treating Chelsea's absurd claims that
"UEFA has got the European Cup final that it wanted" (as a commentator on here this morning pointed
out, shame on the BBC in particular for peddling this particular lie on "Breakfast" this morning),
clubs were in the process of dying.

Entier into Le Professeur's mind. Martin Samuel gets the scoop in Wenger's most detailed
interview since he arrived in England thirteen years ago.
Wenger comes across as a multifaceted man obsessed with football, utterly devoted to it, willing
to engage in its minutiae.
"For me, football dominates all the time.
I am touched by the hand of *boilk* this morning. Stupid delicious gin and tonics.
It's a big day at the club today. The AGM takes place this afternoon and, all things considered,
it should be a much calmer event than the last official meeting. Back in April things were stormier
at a special shareholders meeting, so much so that certain segments of it didn't make the official
broadcast and we know that Arsene took offence at somebody labelling Sylvester geriatric when we
all know that whatever else Sylvester still has the funk.
A video tribute to the Arsenal manager. And some life lessons well learned.
And luckily for all of us, he wants to keep continuing to coach.
"No, it is not me to stop," he said speaking before the weekend game. "If one day I do not
do that anymore then I do not see why I should only have the problems!
First of all, a big happy birthday to Arsene Wenger who has reached the big 6-0. I hope he
enjoys his glass of red tonight.
There is some team news ahead of our game on Sunday, Fabianski and Nasri made good comebacks the
other night in the reserves but Sunday comes too early for them, Denilson should be back in four
weeks and Djourou is out until March at least.
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is expected to detail the club's transfer policy at today's
AGM.
The Times says Arsenal made a £28 million profit on transfers in the summer, the third time in the
past five years that manager Arsene Wenger has generated a surplus.
Gazidis, the chief executive, will be asked to explain the reasons for the low level of spending on
players, compared with other top clubs, and why the board rejected a proposal to raise fresh
transfer funding through a rights issue in July.
It was his birthday and the AGM was conducted in a very different atmosphere from the last
meeting. So of course, in the warm bask of accolades and affection, one tends to become
magnanimous.
But I saw the AZ Alkmaar match and if we are to win a major trophy, we need to do much much
better.
No TGIF this week as I do not want to distract you all from the blogs that detail the AGM and
the subsequent discussions. Certainly the only issue in town is the sixtieth birthday of Arsene
Wenger, but apart from the many plaudits that have been rightfully laid at his door, the most
significant one to my mind is the fact that he reminded us in the speech before the AGM, that
Arsenal Football Club rank alongside Real Madrid and Manchester United as the only clubs that have
been in the Champions League for 12 years running.
Next up it's a trip to the Boleyn Ground on Sunday afternoon in the League against the ‘Appy
‘Ammers. We need three points there if we're to keep up our challenge for the title. We need to
put Tuesday night's disappointing draw in the Netherlands firmly behind us, EXCEPT to learn the
lessons of conceding another silly goal.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger chose his 60th birthday to declare that the rip-roaring Gunners
will win a trophy this season, claims the Daily Mail.
Playing catch-up with our own Vic Crescit's brilliant report from yesterday's AGM, this
morning's paper says Wenger retains the total faith of the board and fans for his glittering
achievements during more than 13 years as the club's longest-serving manager and the way his teams
play despite it being four years since Arsenal won any silverware.
Around 650 Arsenal Holdings shareholders gathered this morning (Thurs 22 October 2009) for the
company's annual general meeting.
The two main stories to emerge were manager Arsène Wenger's statement that he felt the team
could win trophies this season and biggest shareholder "Silent" Stan Kroenke maintaining his
silence on his intentions for the club.
by CARL ELDRIDGE HOW close are we to a takeover bid from Stan Kroenke? Well this afternoon's AGM
was always going to shed some light on the American billionaire's intentions wasn't it. Er, no.
That doesn't appear to be the case, the latest reports from the meeting suggest.
For it seems Kroenke has maintained his silence at the AGM, when questions were directly raised
as to his plans for further investment in the Gunners.
The most glaring difference between this and the last AGM is not the shareholders' attitude. It
is Arsene. His demeanor was completely different this time around, and with good reason. Though
that reason may not be down to results entirely.
Of course, we still get Arsene's standard lines about "belief," the "real spirit in the team,"
etc.
Who Are Ya? By Simon Bailey The press have gleefully swooped on Arsene's comments at the AGM and it
is now gospel, we are bringing home silverware this season. Personally, I saw Arsene re-iterating
the same position he has taken all season. Pundits are getting very fond of saying that we have
more chance of winning the CL [.
by CARL EDLRIDGE Stan Kroenke has snapped up another 427 shares in Arsenal's parent holding
company, at a cost of £3.6million, as the Yank moves closer towards the takeover threshold,
reports the Daily Mail.
Kroenke is now the largest individual shareholder in Arsenal, with a stake of 29.

Big Story
The news this week that Watford's financial
crisis means a team in the Premier League as recently as 2007 are headed for administration, and
the ten point deduction that would result and put their position in the Championship in serious
jeopardy, came as a considerable surprise to most.
Liverpool have insisted they are willing to invest the estimated £15m it would take to upgrade
Anfield to a World Cup venue for 2018 or 2022 should the club not get their proposed new stadium
off the ground in time.
The Football Association asked the city's bid team to include Anfield as a back-up option in case
the proposed new stadium at Stanley Park does not materialise.
