Sorry about my absence from this blog for the last two years. Here's what happened since:
After the solid but not completely satisfying day at Eastleigh in March 2010, City went on to lose
three games on the bounce. It appeared to be all over. The only way City could still qualify for
the playoffs would be to win virtually all of their six remaining games.

While most of the squad is in already, there are still a few more arrivals to go here in
Orlando.
Gomez and Santos: Champions of Mexico
Today Herculez Gomez arrives into camp. On Sunday, Gomez became the first player to win both an MLS
Cup and a Mexican Primera Division title.
Santos Laguna won Mexico's Clausura title on Sunday night in front of their home fans at the Nuevo
Estadio Corona, taking the title 3-2 on aggregate. With the series tied 1-1 after the opening leg,
Daniel Luduena started the scoring in the 5th minute for Santos with Oribe Peralta doubling the
lead in the 64th.
League champions are crowned all over Central America. Here's a review of recent action: BELIZE
Placencia Assassins won the newly formed Belize Premier League, 3-2 on aggregate over Police United
(2-1 and 1-1). However, Placencia will not participate in next season's CONCACAF Champions League
as there are no stadiums in the country with sufficient lighting to host night matches.
Auckland City are Oceania football champions for the fourth time following a single goal second
leg victory over Tahitian side Tefana FC today which sealed a 3-1 aggregate win.
The New Zealand side were already defending the O-League trophy which they won last year and
were made to work hard over the two legs by a Tefana team who were largely unfancied at the start
of the tournament, especially after they lost their first Group A match 10-0 at the hands of
Auckland's compatriots Waitakere United.

SEATTLE, Wa.– Fabian Espindola is a man with a lot to celebrate these days.
He became a father last Friday, and his goal in the 51st minute in front of 39,312 at CenturyLink
Field gave Real Salt Lake (8-3-2) a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders (7-2-1) on Saturday
night.

West Ham beat Cardiff 3-0 (5-0 on aggregate, we'll have more photos up shortly) at Upton Park
in the second leg of their semi to reach the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley in emphatic
fashion yesterday evening though it seems like it may have been bad news for 'Chris', who appears
to have lost his Best Man as a result.
By Rudy Hoffman Chelsea fan Tuesday night's 2-2 draw in Barcelona, which saw ten-men Chelsea FC go
through to the Champions League final 3-2 on aggregate, has been has been attributed to "the
heroism that went into a night of rare achievement and glory." Chelsea will face Bayern Munich
in, coincidentally, Munich and again [.
szólj hozzá: Athletic Bilbao - Sporting 3-1
This was a hugely entertaining match. End to end breathless action at the San Mames as each team
went at each other. There was no let up in the second half. Athletic took an early lead through
Mikael Susaeta as the Basques pulled level on aggregate.
There were too many brilliant moments from Athletic Bilbao's Europa League
semi-final celebrations yesterday to choose from that surely, the city set to hold the craziest
'fiestas' over the weekend will be Bilbao! And who can
blame Iker Muniain (above) for celebrating the way he did really diving headfirst
into the crowd and sharing the love especially after Bilbao turned the scoreline around and handed
Sporting Lisbon a 3-1 defeat to progress 4-3 on aggregate.
Athletic Bilbao managed to fulfill their ambition in reaching the Europa League final this
season after successfully turning their 2-1 deficit in the first leg with a 3-1 victory over
Portuguese representatives, Sporting Lisbon, at San Mames stadium.
Marcelo Bielsa's side should be thanking their main striker, Fernando Llorente, for the success
as the Spanish international was the one who netted in the decisive goal only two minutes from
time.
Adrian Lopez scores his 11th Europa League goal of the season with a suberb half-volley which
puts Athletico Madrid 5-2 ahead on aggregate against Valencia in their Europa League semi-final
second leg at the Mestalla stadium.
TweetBayern Munich will face Chelsea in the Champions League Final at the Allianz Arena with the
Germans favourites amongst bookies in the latest betting odds. Bayern overcame Real Madrid 3-1 on
penalties after losing 2-1 on the night (3-3 on aggregate) to book their place in the final on 19
May at the Allianz Arena.
Though they lost 2-1 on the night, Monterrey's first-leg result was the difference in the CONCACAF
Champions League final. Monterrey beat Santos Laguna 3-2 on aggregate, with Neri Cardozo scoring in
the 81st minute at the Nuevo Estadio Corona. Santos had taken a 2-0 lead with goals from Daniel
Luduena (45th) and Oribe Peralta (50th).
The Champions League's best skills came from Carlos Darwin Quintero.
After Bayern Munich dueled with Real Madrid, there was another match in the Champions League. It
was the 2nd match of the CONCACAF Champions League final between Mexican sides Santos Laguna and
Monterrey. Santos Laguna lost 3-2 on aggregate, but Carlos Darwin Quintero produced an amazing
flick over two Monterrey defenders that should have resulted in a penalty kick for Santos.
TweetBayern Munich will face Chelsea in the Champions League final after beating Real Madrid 3-1 on
penalties after the match had ended 2-1 to Madrid (3-3 on aggregate). In a sensational night in the
Spanish capital it was Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer who was the hero as he saved twice

Arjen Robben misses a glorious chance to pull Bayern level on the night and ahead on aggregate
against Real Madrid following Cristiano Ronaldo's opener.
Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has voiced his frustration at the manner in which Barcelona
forward Alexis Sanchez convinced the referee's assistant to issue a red car to Blues captain John
Terry at Camp Nou last night.
Terry was sent off in the 37th minute of Chelsea's 2-2 draw (a 3-2 win on aggregate) for kneeing
Sanchez when both players were off the ball.
Barcelona's season is crumbling before our eyes as they are out of the Champions League, after
drawing 2-2 at home to Chelsea today, and went out 3-2 on aggregate.
I am in San francisco for a conference so I searched out Mad Dog in the Fog, reportedly the best
soccer bar in the city to watch the game.
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has hailed his side's performance last night as one of the
finest he has ever seen and believes that the Blues' unbreakable spirit triumphed over Barcelona's
beautiful football.
The Blues dramatically surrendered their 1-0 first-leg advantage within eight first-half minutes
as Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta struck either side of John Terry's infamous sending off.
Where do I start on one of the greatest nights of our history considering the circumstances. Up
against it before the game, written off and with members of the press and media thinking that
Barcelona just needed to turn up to win the game, Chelsea produced a performance that is right up
there with the best of them.
So Chelsea did the unthinkable at the Nou Camp, drawing 2-2 with the mighty Barcelona and they are
now in the Champions League Final.
Despite playing with ten men for most of this enthralling fixture thanks to 'Mr. Nice-guy' John
Terry kneeing Iniesta in the back,
Roberto Di Matteo's side withstood the homeside's domination of the game to emerge with a
creditable draw meaning they won the semi-final 3-2 on aggregate.
Barcelona's bad run still continue this midweek as they once gain said goodbye to one of their
trophies target after failing to overcome Chelsea in front of their packed house at Camp Now.
Seeking at least two goals to overturn their 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, Guardiola's team
pretty much failed badly as they only managed to get a 2-2 draw, despite the fact that the Blues
were playing with only 10-men for the larger part of the game.
Chelsea recorded a historic victory Tuesday evening, beating Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate to qualify
for the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final. The European media were quick to jump on the story with
Marca, the Catalan newspaper, summing up the mood...

Holders FC Barcelona has been knocked out off the Champiosn League by a reselient Chelsea side
despite being down to ten man for the majority of the match. A momentary lapse in concentration
which lead to the Ramires goal and a missed penalty by Messi in the second half killed Barcalona's
comeback hopes.
Barcelona's coach, Pep Guardiola, acknowledged that his team are facing a tough challenge this
Tuesday as they try to overcome Chelsea's challenge at Camp Nou, chasing on the 1-0 aggregate that
the Blues' had in the first meeting.
However, Guardiola has a full confidence over his players ability, believing that they will show
up in the second leg despite suffering from a rather bad weekend after the home defeat against Real
Madrid.

Tensions are already rising ahead of tonight's Champions League return leg fixture between
Barcelona and Chelsea. During yesterday pre-match press conference, both managers yesterday said
that they will be going for nothing less than a win.
Di Matteo who is expected to delay his decision o Drogba, said that his side will attack from
the start.
Round 2 promises to be more action-packed, controversial, and yeah, decisive. Strap in for the
rematch folks- this one promises to be a blinder. More, after the jump:
A date with destiny
Indeed, it appears we get to do this all over again. After last week's 'controversial' victory
at The Bridge, Chelsea enter the Camp Nou with a narrow 1-0 lead on aggregate.
Roberto Di Matteo has taken Chelsea back to basics. With his only previous Premier League
management experience being his time as the manager of West Brom, he knows what it means to be in
the results business.
When you get a team promoted from the Championship to the top flight, it's often all about
getting the best out of limited players, or playing to the strengths of the players you have; you
can't go out and get the best players in the country.

Having spent the majority of the tie 1-0 up (2-0 up on aggregate) through Frank Lampard's
21st-minute penalty, Chelsea had to ride out what's known in the business as a 'late scare' to
secure themselves a berth in the Champions League semi-finals when Javi Garcia's 86th-minute header
put ten-man Benfica within another goal of knocking the Blues out on away goals.

Following their progress into the last 4 of the Champions League, a lot of criticism is emerging
towards Chelsea's chances of making it all the way to the final. After their 8-2 aggregate win over
APEOEL, Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has already ruled out chances of his side meeting Chelsea in the
final saying that his arch rivals Barcelona were the 'super favourites' to win the fixture.
After a 8-2 aggregate win over APOEL Nicosia, it is obvious to assume Real Madrid are the hot
favourites to win their 10th European title, however, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich still in the
running, nothing is guaranteed forMourinho's boys.
That said, Mourinho has already gone as far as ruling out his former club Chelsea from making
the final.
