What do our fans think of tonight's lineup?
Other than against Bolton, Liverpool played their best football of the season against an
out-of-sorts Manchester City last weekend. Due to their physical exertions in the Champions League,
the Citizens looked short of match fitness and were sluggish against the mighty Reds. But that does
not take away a great performance by Liverpool at Anfield.

Despite scoring against Chelsea in his last game, Maxi Rodrigues has been dropped by Kenny Dalglish
for the Fulham game, which marks the third time this season the Argentinean has been dumped on the
bench after scoring.
Here is the team:
Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Henderson, Spearing, Adam, Bellamy, Carroll, Suarez.
LFC at Fulham – Carroll, Bellamy and Suarez start
TEMPTATION didn't get the better of Kenny Dalglish as he has kept Maxi Rodriguez on the bench
for tonight's trip to Fulham. The Liverpool manager has still picked what is very much a positive
line-up, with Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy and Luis Suarez in from the off.
It was a match that Liverpool should have won, if only they'd taken their chances. If only the
officials hadn't overturned an offside Luis Suarez goal that wasn't. If only Kevin Friend hadn't
given Jay Spearing a questionable red card or if only he had awarded a penalty and not a free-kick
when Charlie Adam was felled as he entered the sixteen-yard box.
Jay Spearing, Jordan Henderson and Jonjo Shelvey are the obvious candidates to cover Lucas Leiva
whilst he recovers from his cruciate ligament injury, but Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes
that Kenny Dalglish should look to his defenders for a viable solution. Is he right? In his column
for the Liverpool Echo, Aldo argued:"Kenny also has other options which people may not have
considered
Liverpool have lost out on many great players over the years for a variety of reasons but there is
one player most fans - including Daniel Agger - would would've loved to have seen at Anfield.Agger
has been in great form for Liverpool recently, and if he could choose one player to come to
Anfield, who would it?
Kenny Dalglish seems determined to stop the *proven* combination of Luis Suarez, Craig Bellamy and
Maxi Rodrigues playing in the same team, and has named a side with Maxi and Suarez starting, and
Bellamy on the bench. The full team:Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Adam, Henderson,
Downing, Maxi, Kuyt, Suarez.
Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger are doing a great job in defence for Liverpool at the moment, but
former Anfield defender Mark Wright insists that the club is not currently playing its best
defensive pairing. Speaking on the Official LFC Site, Wright was put on the spot and asked to name
Liverpool's best current defensive partnership.
Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger have proved to be a superb defensive partnership for Liverpool over
the last month, and their excellent performances have helped the club achieve the best defensive
record in the league.Liverpool legend John Aldridge recently described Skrtel as an 'accident
waiting to happen', but in his weekly column for the Liverpool Echo, the former striker seemed to
have

Here is the the Liverpool line-up for today's game against Aston Villa. You heard it here
first!Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Downing, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey, Bellamy SuarezIt
will be interesting to see where Shelvey lines up; he'll probably be shunted out to the right to
accommodate Henderson in the centre.

Aston Villa v Liverpool – as it happened
Liverpool scored from two early corners and strolled to victory against a poor, pretty much
attack-free Aston Villa side Preamble: Aston Villa must carry particularly good memories for
Liverpool fans. I'm not even a Liverpool fan, but I can remember half a dozen stonking moments
between these two clubs.
Goals:Bellamy 11'
Skrtel 15'
Winning with ease when not on top form is far more fun than frustrating draws or defeats when
dominant. Still, if not for converting the first two corners within 15 minutes, Liverpool could
well be ruing more missed chances and more effort rebounding off wider-than-normal goal posts.
Wigan v Liverpool: Solidarity on show as Suarez starts.
The Liverpool team for tonight's visit to the DW Stadium includes Luis Suarez and is solidly
behind Luis Suarez. Maxi and Kuyt for Bellamy and Shelvey are the only changes. This is the
statement the squad released collectively this evening: Luis Suarez is our teammate and our friend
and as a group of players we are shocked and angered that he has been found guilty by the FA.
Last month, Pepe Reina expressed the view that Andy Carroll was Liverpool's 'worst trainer', saying
that 'he doesn't run too many yards'. Well, according to Daniel Agger, another one of the club's
forwards is also pretty lazy on the training ground, and you'll probably be surprised about who it
is.
Daniel Agger is in a rich vein of form for Liverpool at the moment, and he's been integral to
helping the club achieve the best defensive record in the league. It's hardly surprising that Agger
has developed into such a great defender; he's has had great role models at Anfield, and the Dane
credits one player in particular with having a massive impact on his career.
Kickoff from Anfield at 3:00PM GMT/10:00AM EST

Liverpool v Blackburn – Stevie on the bench
Boxing day sees Blackburn visit Anfield and Reds captain Steven Gerrard is fit enough for a
place on the bench after his injury lay-off. Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll both start for the hosts,
Kuyt and Bellamy joining the captain on the bench alongside vice-captain Jamie Carragher.

With all the furore over Luis Suarez getting another ban, Liverpool getting a £20,000 fine over
Jay Spearing getting sent off and all the dismal draws instead of wins as we slide down the table,
it is the same old story with Liverpool FC, failure to beat lower league opposition, failure to
stay in touch with the Manchester teams and now Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite scoring in the last league game, Maxi Rodrigues has been dropped AGAIN for tonight's game
against Newcastle. Full Liverpool line-up:Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Adam, Henderson,

Two goals from Craig Bellamy and one from Steven Gerrard was enough for Liverpool tonight, as
they beat Newcastle 3-1 in a tight match at Anfield tonight.
It was the first time Liverpool had scored three goals in a match since the August 27 win over
Bolton and ended a spell where Liverpool had drawn four of its previous five home matches.

Highlights of the game: First came an own goal by Agger for Newcastle, which looked more like a
Cabaye goal really. Then however Liverpool struck back with three goals, the first two goals from
ex Newcastle United striker Craig Bellamy, and finally, a goal off the bench from substitute Steven
Gerrard.
