Daniel Agger
The Danish centre-back is still only 25 and, with Jamie Carragher looking like he is slowly on the
way out, Agger is perfectly primed to make himself the defensive main man at Anfield for many
years. Now the Slovakian Martin Skrtel needs to get up to scratch alongside Agger, just as Agger
has done alongside Carragher and Sami Hyypia in the past.

A
very very
hectic few weeks here at work and so I won't be able to go into the depth I'd like to with this
midweek Fantasy Premier League preview, but I'll give you a taste of my thinking and hope it goes a
long way to inspire some decision making on your part.

The Team: Some people call Denmark's national football team "Danish Dynamite."
I on the other hand think that moniker sounds more appropriate for some strange shot of liquor than
a soccer squad. The fan in the pic has apparently had a few too many such concoctions, and now he
is physically ill.

Dominated, embarrassed, humiliated. Tactically out-classed, overrun in midfield, passed to death,
and toothless in attack.
Normally, Soccernet's graphics are infuriating, often incorrect or unhelpful. But comparing the
average position of Liverpool's starting XI in Saturday's match to last March's 3-0 win is a
perfect encapsulation of the tactical differences between last season's team and the current
version.

Ladies and Gents, Following the big success that was Chelseanazionale (I'm talking about the
post, not the Oh so wonderful result that was Chelsea getting eliminated) we figured we might as
well give BBC a run for their money with a Live Feed in what we like to call BigFourZa's inimitable
style. What we're going to do here today is put a Scouse and a Red Devil in the same space and
watch as the fireworks fly.

In the last two days, following the incredibly depressing sale of Insua, we've seen Joe Cole sign,
Gerrard commit to the club, and now the Danny Wilson transfer finally near completion (news broken
by Robbo Huyton of Well Red and confirmed by the Telegraph's Rory Smith – yes, Twitter links, but
Twitter links from those two equal confirmation in my book).

By Amy Quinn, writing from Dublin
Liverpool were forced to come back from a deficit once again in Turkey, as they recorded
only their second ever win in the country against Trabzonspor in the Europa League third round
qualifiers.
From the outset, it looked as if Liverpool fans' week was about to get significantly worse.
Liverpool lead 1-0 on aggregate.

The traveling party, announced this morning, seemingly tells the world where Liverpool's priorities
lie.
Liverpool bought six players in the summer of 2008 for a total of roughly £39m. With the sale of
Dossena to Napoli, two of those – the first and third most expensive – are no longer with the
club. The other four – Riera, Cavalieri, Ngog, and Degen – have made a combined 64 league
appearances (100 games in total) in a season and a half, with Riera accounting for 37 (58%) of
those.

Comical. Unfortunate. Deserved. Typical. And no, there's no acronym there.
It looked like Liverpool would hold onto the one slice of luck received – a chance deflection in
the last minute of the first half – but not this season.

If it ain't (that) broke, don't fix it.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has alluded to the possibility that the club will be unable to add
to the signing of Maxi Rodriguez during the current transfer window, but believes his squad can
still fulfil their ambitions.
The mid-season market ceases trading on Monday, and Liverpool - despite being linked with a
multitude of Europe's big names including Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, David Silva and Milan Jovanovic -
are yet to seal a second deal this month.

Rafa Benitez claims he never doubted Liverpool's potential to produce the kind of football
witnessed against Portsmouth.
The Reds thumped Avram Grant's strugglers 4-1 on Monday with a performance reminiscent of last
year's run-in.
Benitez said: "You know we've had too many injuries to important players this season.

I'm more confused than anything else.
In my last post I asked that we maintain the good form, no matter what the outcome of the
season. I should have added we must cling to clear-headed decision making from now to the end. The
last two outings for Liverpool were derailed by bad judgement by Ryan Babel and (and I rarely say
this in writing) Rafa Benitez.
