Domestically, Liverpool have had a strange season. Their league form has been nothing short of
terrible, however, their performances in the cups have been extremely impressive.
Next season Dalglish (providing he remains in charge) will no doubt look to improve the core of
the Liverpool team, allowing them to challenge for a top four position.
Thiery Henry's short return to Arsenal is pretty much imminent but theres still some question
being raised regarding the necessity of the deal as some doesn't really understand what would the
Gunners gain with Henry's addition aside from a short stop gap solution.
However, the London outfit's keeper, Wojciech Szczesny, shuts down the doubters by stating that
acquiring the club's legend even for only two months is very important indeed.

It's the FA Cup weekend, so you'd be forgiven for finally creeping out from
under your blankets and rubbing your eyes... except it's another case of 'Back to the
Future' and Thierry Henry has returned for Arsenal!
Although you'd all like to believe this is one of monsieur Arsène's secret
master plans, his arrival is meant to support the loss of Fútbolitos
Gervinho and Chamakh Challo to the three-week long
African Nations Cup, which kicks off on January 21st!

Coupe de France greets us on the other side of the winter break, and OL travels to, well, Lyon.

Not a surprise that the FA has turned down Vincent Kompany's appeal for the straight red card
that he picked up in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
The Man City captain will now miss City's next four games (its four games and not three as this
is his second red card of the season).
Kompany, who has arguably City's best player over the last two seasons, will miss tomorrow
night's Carling Cup semi-final first-leg with Liverpool.

Manchester City slumped to their second home defeat in four days as Steven Gerrard's early penalty
moved Liverpool to within 90 minutes of their first Wembley appearance since 1996.

four-match ban, and drained by the energy exerted at having to play for 78 minutes with 10 men
against Manchester United at the weekend, City were a shadow of their usual selves.

Didn't catch the game live, but after watching the highlights, I wish I had. In the 5th minute of
stoppage time, Gabon's Bruno-Zita Mbanangoye hit a spectacular free kick (probably a goal of the
tourney) that earned the co-hosts a berth in the quaterfinals, knocking out one of the favorites to
win it all.
Asamoah Gyan's superb free-kick helped Ghana into the African Nations Cup quarter-finals, as
they beat Mali 2-0 today. Andre Ayew scored their second securing their last 16 spot.
